Cordie Irene Christian, 96, of Owensboro died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Leisure Years Nursing Home in Owensboro. The Owensboro native was a homemaker and member of Woodlawn Methodist Church. Her husband, Edwin Walter Christian, died June 19, 1975.
Survivors include a son, Robert Earl Christian of Owensboro; six granddaughters; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ann's Chapel at Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Entombment will be in Resurrection cemetery. There will be no visitation. Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville is handling arrangements.
Charles Hosie Graddy

CENTRAL CITY - Charles Hosie Graddy, 70, of Central City died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. The Hopkins County native was a mechanic at Shelby Wheel and Tire in Madisonville, a member of Mount Pisgah Church and a Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Nell Nelson Graddy; a son, Bruce Wayne Graddy of Central City; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Elisha Graddy of Baltimore, J.D. Graddy of Nortonville and Robert Graddy of Lanesville, Ind.; and seven sisters, Lucille Glaysbrook and Nora Dixon, both of Madisonville, Nan Morgan of South Bend, Ind., Elmira Ritter of Merritt Island, Fla., Catherine Pleasant of Goshen, Ind., Doshia Crump of Leitchfield and Mae Priar of Calhoun.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Danny Joel 'Boone' Jackson

Danny Joel "Boone" Jackson, 56, of Whitesville died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Hancock County native was an oil field worker and carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Jackson; two sons, Danny Jackson Jr. and David Allen Jackson, both of Fordsville; two daughters, Stacy Payne of Hartford and Teresa Jackson of Louisville; nine grandchildren; four brothers, Jewell Jackson, Gayle Jackson and Lendall Jackson, all of Owensboro, and Quinton Jackson of Bowling Green; and three sisters, Juanita McManaway of Boling Chapel, Arlene Jarboe of Hawesville and Remonda Pierce of McQuady.
Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville. Burial will be in Bethlehem cemetery in Hancock County. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Vance D. Turner

LEWISPORT - Vance D. Turner, 59, of Lewisport died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at his home. The Owensboro native retired from Alumax Aluminum as a maintenance mechanic and enjoyed antique farm machinery and the outdoors.
Survivors include a son, Terry D. Turner of Vincennes, Ind.; two grandchildren; his father, Vance Lee Turner of Honolulu; and his mother, Myrtle Brown of Owensboro.
There are no services or visitation. Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a favorite charity.
Adam D. Jarvis

Adam D. Jarvis, 19, of 2815 1/2 Veach Road, Owensboro, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System from cardiac arrest. The Owensboro native worked at OMHS as a grill cook, was a member of First Baptist Church and a 2000 graduate of Daviess County High School.
Survivors include his parents, Steve and Sue Jarvis of Owensboro; several uncles and aunts; and several cousins.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sorgho. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Edwina A. Carden

Edwina A. Carden, 77, of 1116 Hickman Ave., Owensboro, died there Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001. The Owensboro native was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, where she played an active part in the Friendship House, and a volunteer for 28 years at the Daviess-McLean Baptist Center. Her husband, Shirley W. Carden, died Aug. 17, 2001.
Survivors include three daughters, Rosetta Guess of Panama City, Fla., Linda Carden of Louisville and Kathi Blanco of Owensboro; three grandchildren; and a brother, James Ziemer of Owensboro.
Services are at 3 p.m. Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. CENTRAL CITY - Eldred Lloyd Pyott, 84, of Central City died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Greenville. The Harriman, Tenn., native retired as an electrician from Tennessee Valley Authority and was a member of Nelson Creek Pentecostal Church. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie Sumner Pyott; a daughter, Patricia Waddell of Central City; two stepsons, David Loney and Eugene Loney, both of Central City; two stepdaughters, Karen June Brandon and Janice Harper, both of Central City; four grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Fred Pyott of Evansville; and four sisters, Jennie Thomas and Margaret Day, both of Evansville, Inell Test of Knoxville, Tenn., and Daisy Laythrum of California.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery in Dawson Springs. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Zella Ruth Shown

HARTFORD - Zella Ruth Shown, 86, of Plattsmouth, Neb., formerly of Hartford, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at NHS Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Neb. The Dawson Springs native retired in 1961 as a licensed practical nurse and was a member of Portway Baptist Church in Brownsville, Texas, and had been a member of Rebecca's Lodge in Plattsmouth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Thomas Shown Sr.; and two sons, Cecil Thomas Shown Jr. and Dennis Reyburn Shown.
Survivors include three sons, Edward Randall Shown of Richmond, Va., James Leonard Shown of Union, Neb., and Joseph Robinson Shown of Stapleton, Neb., three daughters, Dortha Sue Zieman of West Palm Beach, Fla., Zella Marvidene Warwick of Urbandale, Iowa, and Anne Rhea Shown of Brownsville; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will be in Carson cemetery near Hartford. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Sister Mary Janette Bowling

MAPLE MOUNT - Sister Mary Janette Bowling, 83, of Maple Mount died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Mount St. Joseph Motherhouse. The New Haven native taught at St. Mary Magdalene School in Sorgho and was principal of St. Pius X School in Owensboro. She was director of religious education at Fort Knox from 1968 to 1984 and conducted teacher training workshops at military posts in the United States and Germany.
Survivors include four brothers, the Rev. Robert A. Bowling of Reno, Nev., the Rev. George Bowling of Louisville and Martin J. Bowling and William P. Bowling, both of New Haven; and two sisters, Marietta Bowling Blandford and Mary Louise Bowling, both of Louisville.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mount St. Joseph Chapel in Maple Mount. Burial will be in the convent cemetery in Maple Mount. Visitation is after 4 p.m. today at the chapel. Wake services are at 6:30 p.m. today at the chapel. Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. BEAVER DAM - Marjorie Linda Gibbons, 75, of Beaver Dam died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Hendersonville, N.C., native was a homemaker and member of McHenry Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Clifton Gibbons; a son, Thomas Stepp of Morgantown; three daughters, Mary Mills of Michie, Tenn., Kathie Howard of Whitesville and Tammi Johnson of Livermore; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Patti Espinoza of Gary, Ind.
Memorial services are at 5 p.m. today at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
George Lester Bard

GREENVILLE - George Lester Bard, 61, of Greenville died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2001, at his home. The Depoy native retired from Air Gem Coal Mines in Carbondale, Ill. A son, Scottie Bard, died in 1979.
Survivors include his wife, Maxie Louise Bard; six sons, Marcus O'Shay of Central City, Jonathan Kane Bard of Virginia Beach, Va., Aaron Devon Bard and Ulysses Tyrone Bard, both of Greenville, Jeffery Bowling of Chicago and George Lamont Bard of Louisville; seven grandchildren; a brother, Wendell Bard of Lexington; and three sisters, Castella Hawkins and Celestine Bard, both of Greenville, and Ora Lee Parker of Madisonville.
Services are at 3 p.m. Thursday at Bibbs' Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in West End cemetery near Greenville. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Russell S. Hurd

Russell S. Hurd, 87, of Grove City, Pa., formerly of Owensboro, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Grove City Community Hospital. The Sabinsville, Pa., native retired as owner-operator of Hurd's Barber Shop in Owensboro in 1975 and was a former member of Crabtree Avenue Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II, received the Purple Heart and was a coal miner. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alma Lee Hurd, in 1975; and a daughter, Barbara Foster, on Sept., 12, 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Newcomb Hurd; a son, Russell S. Hurd Jr. of Owensboro; a daughter, Betty McLimore of Utica; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; five brothers; and three sisters.
