ELDORADO, Ill. -- Gary N. Holt, 54, of Eldorado died Monday, July 30, 2001, at his home. The Milliocket, Maine, native was a truck driver, military veteran and attended Miracle Temple Church in Wasson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Everly Holt, on Sept. 22, 1997; and a stepson, Gene Hooten, on Aug. 18, 1997.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Lee Melton Holt; three sons, Robert Holt, Norman Holt, both of Owensboro, and Brian Holt of Cincinnati; a daughter, DeeAnna Hodges of Owensboro; two stepsons, Conrad McCloskey of Peyton, Colo., and Kelly Melton of Jackson, Mo.; four grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; his parents, Maurice Wayne Holt and Alta Campbell Holt, both of Dummer, N.H.; three brothers, Wayne Holt, Brian Holt, both of Dummer, and Carl Holt of Milan, N.H.; and a sister, Sherry Main of Dummer.
Memorial services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at First General Baptist Church in Owensboro. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Southern Illinois or his wife.

TUCKER, Ga. -- Janet Pirkle Sims, 57, of Tucker, formerly of Owensboro, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001. The Cleveland native was a member of Century Christian Church and actively supported Youth Tennis Tournaments in Kentucky and her children's activities at Apollo High School in Owensboro.
Survivors include her husband, Glenn Sims; a son, Paul Scott Pirkle III of Warner Robins, Ga.; a daughter, Miriam Paige Peterson of Rockwall, Texas; four grandchildren; her mother, Miriam Allen of Sun City, Ariz.; two brothers, Ken Allen of Houston and Gary Allen of Waterloo, Iowa; and a sister, Debbie Renneker of San Antonio.
Memorial services are at 3 p.m. Friday at Chattahoochee Christian Church in Duluth, Ga. Lowndes & McLane Funeral Home in Tucker, Ga., is in charge of arrangements. Mildred Eva Hinton Smiley

HARTFORD -- Mildred Eva Hinton Smiley, 77, of Hartford died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Ohio County Hospital. The Ohio County native was a homemaker and attended Hartford Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam B. Smiley in 1993; and a son, Vernon Smiley, in 1985.
Survivors include two sons, Norris Smiley and Marvin Smiley, both of Hartford; two daughters, Connie Herode of Hartford and Delona Fulkerson of Beaver Dam; two stepsons, A.J. Smiley of Utica and Seldon Smiley of Greenville; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will be in New Bethel cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mary Nola Weaver

BOWLING GREEN -- Mary Nola Weaver, 97, of Bowling Green died there Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Wellington Parc. The Madisonville native was a teacher in the Michigan and Kentucky school systems. She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Weaver.
Survivors include two nieces.
Graveside services are at 10 a.m. EDT Friday at Toledo Memorial Park, Swan Lake chapel, in Sylvania, Ohio. There is no visitation. J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Funeral Chapel in Bowling Green is in charge of arrangements.

HAWESVILLE -- Helen Raley Wetherill, 81, of Hawesville died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. The Hancock County native retired from Tell City Chair Co. and taught Sunday school and held several leadership positions at Hawesville United Methodist Church. She volunteered at the Hancock County Help Office.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Arthur Wetherill; a son, David Matthews Sr. of Birmingham, Ala.; a daughter, Marjorie Wilson of Hawesville; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Gorman of Hawesville; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Hawesville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Serenity Hills cemetery in Hawesville. Visitation is after 3 p.m. today and until 1:30 p.m. Friday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville. Ruby Baggett Miles

Ruby Turner Baggett Miles, 90, formerly of Owensboro, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at The Forum in Louisville. The Clarksville, Tenn., native retired from the Mary Kendall Home in Owensboro as administrator.
Survivors include a daughter, Fran Gordinier; and two granddaughters.
Services are at 10 a.m. EDT Friday at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home in Louisville. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro.
Trudye Y. Windle

Trudye Y. Windle of Owensboro died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The West Virginia native retired from Kaiser Aluminum, was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and its prayer ministry and had been a member of Ravenswood (W.Va.) Planning Commission. She was active in and American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Easter Seal Society and volunteered at Jackson General Hospital.
Survivors include two brothers, Mel Windle and Jim Windle, both of Owensboro; several nephews and nieces; two aunts; and several cousins.
Services are at noon Friday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 7:15 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Blessed Mother Catholic Church or American Cancer Society.
Richard F. 'Dick' Dillman

LISBON, Maine -- Richard F. "Dick" Dillman, 72, of Lisbon died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at his home after a three-year battle with cancer. The Casey, Ill., native graduated from Owensboro High School in 1947 and retired from the Navy in 1967 after 20 years. He worked at Bowdoin College in Maine and the Commissary in Brunswick, Maine, for more than 20 years and retired in the early 1990s. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling and playing cribbage and horseshoes.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Charlotte Dillman; two sons, Rick Dillman of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Eric Dillman of Derry, N.H.; two daughters, Kay Bassett of Conyers, Ga., and Trena Norton of Weymouth, Mass.; three grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Coffey of Owensboro.
Crosman Funeral Home in Lisbon Falls, Maine, is in charge of arrangements.
Wallace Couty

Wallace Couty, 89, of 908 Charles Scott Drive, Owensboro, died Monday, July 30, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Hancock County native retired in 1977 from Martin-Marietta as a metal inspector and was a member of Hall Street Baptist Church. He was a member of the co-op Sunday school class, served on the board of deacons and had served as chairman of the trustees. His wife, Rachel Butler Couty, died Aug. 27, 1991.
Survivors include a son, Wallace Ray Couty of Columbus, Ga.; four daughters, Rovella Mosley, Lula Campbell and Enola Louise Couty, all of Owensboro, and Catherine Gwaltney of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, John B. Couty of Hawesville, Virgil Couty of Oklahoma City and Eugene Couty of Arkansas; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. LIVERMORE -- Belverine Shocklee, 85, of Livermore died Monday, July 9, 2001, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Owensboro. The McLean County native retired from Green River Chair Co. in Livermore after 12 years, was a homemaker and member of Livermore United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her family. Her husband, Boone Shocklee, died March 7, 1986.
Survivors include seven sons, Ronald Shocklee and Allen Shocklee, both of Greenville, Wendell Shocklee of Owensboro, Hilton Shocklee of Livermore, Mike Shocklee of Nebo and Duane Shocklee and David Shocklee, both of Island; six daughters, Janice Deaton, Phyllis Sallee and Sue Shocklee, all of Owensboro, Patricia Miller of Central City, Martha Horn of Greenville and Mary Sonner of Island; 25 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery in McLean County. CENTRAL CITY -- George Addison Forgy, 45, of Central City died Monday, July 30, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Cook County, Ill., native was a clerk at Wal-Mart in Beaver Dam, a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Bremen and an Army veteran.
Survivors include a son, George Aaron Forgy of Providence; his parents, Shirley and Wilbur Fortner of Central City; two brothers, Terry Fortner of White Plains and Larry Fortner of Henryville, Ind.; three sisters, Peggy Crockett of Madisonville, Marilyn Davis of Wilkes Barre, Pa., and Teresa Cobb of Depoy; and several uncles and aunts.
Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
