GREENVILLE -- Melvia Elaine Ford, 79, of Greenville died there Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. The Herrin, Ill., native was a homemaker and member of Church of God in Central City.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Ford of Central City and Norris Wayne Ford of Dixon; four daughters, Connie Gibson of Old Hickory, Tenn., Judith Dunning of Greenville, Nancy Gail Lott of Dresden, Tenn., and Cindy Ford of Nashville; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul McNeill of Texas; and a sister, Mazo Hale of Texas.
Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
George Edward Grant

HARTFORD -- George Edward Grant, 85, of Hartford died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Central City native was a World War II Army veteran, received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart and was a nondenominational church member. He owned Dockerys Slaughter House and Sunshine Cleaners in Hartford and served on the Hartford Volunteer Fire Department as a truck driver and secretary-treasurer for 35 years. His daughter, Sue Grant, died in 1995.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy R. Grant; a son, Mike Grant of Centertown; a daughter, Dottie Coy of Hartford; and a sister, Mary Hill of Sebring, Fla.
Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will be in Dockery Family cemetery near Beaver Dam. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Dewey L. Myers

OLATON -- Dewey L. Myers, 84, of Olaton died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Ohio County native retired from Whirlpool Co. in Evansville, was a member and deacon of Olaton Missionary Baptist Church and a member of Dundee Masonic Lodge 733. He was a member of Gideon's International and a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Stella "Midge" Cundiff Myers; three sons, William L. Myers and Donald R. Myers, both of Hartford, and Frederick L. Myers of Olaton; two daughters, Mary Ann Casteel of Olaton and Phyllis J. Hackbarth of Honolulu; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in Olaton. Burial will be in McCord cemetery in Olaton. Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Danks Funeral Home and after noon Wednesday at the church.
Louise P. Reichenbach

LOUISVILLE -- Louise P. Reichenbach, 80, of Louisville died there Saturday, May 26, 2001, at her home. The Owensboro native was a school cafeteria manager for St. Ignatius School in Louisville. She was a member of St. Martha Senior Citizens Club and Eagle Creek Bunco Club.
Survivors include her husband, Walter R. Reichenbach Sr.; three sons, Walter R. Reichenbach Jr. of Dale City, Va., and Mike Reichenbach and Steve Reichenbach, both of Louisville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Powell of Louisville; and a sister, Lena Hubbuch of Mount Washington.
Services are at 10 a.m. EDT Wednesday at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church in Louisville. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs cemetery in Stanford. LEWISPORT -- Katie Moore, 91, of Lewisport died there Friday, May 25, 2001, at her home. The Lewisport native was a member of Lewisport United Methodist Church. Her husband, Gus E. Moore, died in 1983.
Survivors include several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport. Burial will be in Lewisport cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

HARDINSBURG -- Jesse Taylor Beard Jr., 41, of Hardinsburg died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. The Breckinridge County native was owner of Pro-Golf in Louisville and a member of Hardinsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include his companion, Lana Beard; two stepdaughters, Kenda Cox of Hardinsburg and Dannielle Decker of Brandenburg; two stepgrandchildren; his mother, Brucie Beard of Irvington; and four sisters, Sylvia Ann Beard of Owensboro, Martha Bruce Beard and Nancy Lou Beard, both of Hardinsburg, and Sally Storms of Westview.
Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial will be in Ivy Hill cemetery in Hardinsburg. Survivors include her husband, John Girten; five daughters, Aretha Morris of Owensboro, Lena Massey of Temple, Ga., Lisa Payne of Central City, Vicki Reed of Beaver Dam and Carolyn Girten of Central City; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Lawerence Pierce of Owensboro; and two sisters, Mary Daugherty and Nellie Smith, both of Owensboro.

Survivors include her husband, Odus Mefford; two sons, Eldon Reynolds of Russellville and Leymond Reynolds of Glasford, Ill.; three daughters, Virginia Cartwright of Belton, Dimple Stahl of Hammond, Ind., and Linda Stewart of Washington, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gertrude Bohelski of New Jersey, Bertha Hott of Indianapolis and Glendean Gilmore of Oklahoma; and two half brothers, Eldon Pendley and Bennett Pendley, both of Rosewood.

ISLAND -- Flora May Davis, 89, of Island died there Saturday, May 26, 2001. The Island native was a homemaker, a member of Buttonsberry Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting, singing and spending time with family. Her husband, John William Davis, died July 11, 1966.
Survivors include a son, Johnny Eugene Davis of Ionia, Mich.; five daughters, Jewell Boyken of Island, Carol Smith of Bremen, Dorothy Stevens of Atlanta, Mich., Linda Coffman of Crofton and Donna Howard of Winterville, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

LEWISPORT -- William Earl "Dutch" Horrell, 84, of Lewisport died there Thursday, May 17, 2001, at his home. The Breckinridge County native was a member of St. Columba and a lifelong farmer.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy E. Rhinerson Horrell; four daughters, Alice Bland, Jo Ann Mattingly and Sue Carol Henning, all of Hardinsburg, and Shelia Ogle of Hawesville; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pearl Brickney of Lewisport.
Services are at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Columba in Lewisport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary cemetery in Hawesville. Visitation is after 3 p.m. today and until 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Esther "Sis" Wright, 75, of Utica died Monday, May 21, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Breckinridge County native retired from General Electric Co. in Owensboro and was a member of Masonville Baptist Church. Her husband, Kenneth F. Wright, died March 21, 1991.
Survivors include two sons, Ken Wright of San Antonio and James Wright of Utica; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Preston of Philpot; and two sisters, Effie Edge of Philpot and Hattie McMahan of Utica.
Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in Richland Baptist cemetery in McLean County.
