Charles H. Jackson

Charles H. Jackson, 72, of 4032 Carpenter Drive, Owensboro, died there Thursday, May 10, 2001. The Crittenden County native retired as an electrical engineer from Patton Scaffolding Co. in Chicago after 30 years and attended Harvest Baptist Temple. He was a member of Kelvyn Park-Willing Masonic Lodge 1074 in Chicago and enjoyed bingo, woodworking, gardening and his friends.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Wanda Jackson; two sons, William Gerald Jackson of Franklin Park, Ill., and Charles Keith Jackson of Owensboro; a daughter, Karen Gail Miller of Whithouse, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, John Jackson of Nisswa, Minn.; and two sisters, Helen Damron of Evansville and Nell Lowery of Indianapolis.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Entombment will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Maria Maki

Maria Maki, 91, of 2238 Ponder Place, Owensboro, died there Thursday, May 10, 2001. The Karvia, Finland, native was a Lutheran. Her husband, Toivo Maki, died in 1987.
Survivors include a daughter, Miriam Sliger of Owensboro; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a nephew; and a niece.
Graveside services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in McCool cemetery in Portage, Ind. There is no visitation. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. Edith Mae Cook

GREENVILLE -- Edith Mae Cook, 82, of Greenville, formerly of Owensboro, died Friday, May 4, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Green County native was a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Lee James, in 1945; and her second husband, J. B. Cook, in 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Robert B. James of Philpot and James M. Adwell of Owensboro; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clyde Sharp of Owensboro and Wayne Sharp of La Grange; and three sisters, Phyllis Aull and Emma Vowells, both of Owensboro, and Nora Ferrell of Galion, Ohio.
Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Glasgow Municipal cemetery in Glasgow. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro.
Laurence Kern 'Larry' Meyer

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Laurence Kern "Larry" Meyer, 68, of Elizabethtown died there Thursday, May 10, 2001. The Grand Rapids, Mich., native was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. James Catholic Church. He published the Penny Saver from 1966 to 1997 and enjoyed University of Kentucky athletics. His wife, Jane Meyer, died Aug. 16, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Meyer of Owensboro and Stuart Meyer of Chicago; three daughters, Ann Meyer of Chicago, Laura Fleming of Fort Worth, Texas, and Lisa Platt of Louisville; five grandchildren; two brothers, and David Meyer of Louisville and Paul Stuart Meyer of Rochester, Mich.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown. Burial will be in St. James cemetery in Elizabethtown. Visitation is from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice and Palliative Care of Central Kentucky.
Megan Clark

Megan Clark, 25, of 4120 Brentwood Drive, Owensboro, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. The Evansville native worked in sales for Commonwealth Wine and Spirits, was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and a graduate of Daviess County High School and Kentucky Wesleyan College. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, enjoyed reading, traveling, being with people and her family.
Survivors include her parents, P. Michael and Rose Clark of Owensboro; a brother, Brian Clark of Owensboro; and a sister, Erin Clark of Owensboro.
Services are at noon Friday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro. Entombment is in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. James Earl Gregory

LEWISPORT -- James Earl Gregory, 61, of Lewisport died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. The Lewisport native worked as a conservation officer for the Kentucky State Fish and Wildlife Department, worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for 12 years and was president of Gregory & Associates River Divers Inc. for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Geary Gregory; two sons, Robert C. Gregory of Gary, Ind., and James David Gregory of Bowling Green; a daughter, Katherine Ann Gregory of Barrington, Ill.; four grandchildren; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Gregory of Lewisport.
Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport. Burial will be in Lewisport cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

ISLAND -- Clayton H. Arnold, 77, of Island died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Muhlenberg County native was a retired construction worker. He was a Baptist and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son, Tommy Adkins of Washington; a daughter, Jackie Popwell of Russell Springs; several grandchildren; and a sister, Alta Thomason of Kuttawa.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in Island Methodist cemetery. Mabel R. Bickett, 94, of Owensboro died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Heartland Villa in Lewisport. The Hancock County native was a homemaker and member of West Point Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, Bingo, Whitesville Senior Citizens and her grandchildren. Her husband, Lee Bickett, died May 20, 1975.
Survivors include a son, Joe "Sonny" Bickett of Reynolds Station; four daughters, Helen Brown of Whitesville, Betty Edwards of Statesville, N.C., Ruby Taylor of Lewisport and Mary Rumage of Owensboro; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. TUCSON, Ariz. -- Hazel Wood Hebert, 95, of Tucson, formerly of Owensboro, died April, 9, 2001 in Tuscon. The Henderson native retired from Robinson's May as a retail sales clerk.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Gerald Hayden Jr. of Tucson; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Owensboro Memorial Gardens, Christ Chapel. There is no visitation. Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to TMC Hospice, 5301 E. Grant, Tucson, AZ 85712.
Ethelene Likens

Ethelene Likens, 95, of 1001 W. Parrish Ave., Owensboro, died Friday, May 4, 2001, at Riverside Manor Nursing Home in Calhoun. The Ohio County native retired from Sorgho Elementary School as a cook and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Her husband, William Courtney Likens, died Aug. 31, 1979.
Survivors include several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 2:30 p.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Sorgho cemetery. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
