George J. Barton Jr.

George J. Barton Jr., 70, of Yale Place, Owensboro, died Friday, April 23, 1999, in Lebanon. He was born in Daviess County and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was staff director in 1964 at National Jamboree in Valley Forge, Pa.; formerly owned Barton's Young World; and was a former district Boy Scouts executive for which he doubled membership and tripled budget funds in 1958.
Survivors include three daughters, Laurie B. Heckel of Lebanon, Luanne "Lu" Barton of Somerset and Ellen B. Carter of Augusta, Ga.; six grandchildren; a brother, William H. Barton of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and several nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Boy Scouts of America, Blue Grass Council, Lake Cumberland District, 415 N. Broadway, Lexington, KY 40508.
Joyce Bivens Hill

CALHOUN -- Joyce Bivens Hill, 57, of Glenville died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at her home. She was born in Daviess County and was a homemaker. She was a member of Glenville Baptist Church where she was a choir member for several years. She enjoyed cross-stitch, baking and decorating cakes and ceramics.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Johnnie D. Hill Sr.; two sons, Johnnie D. Hill Jr. of Slaughters and Dennis L. Hill of Glenville; a daughter, Melinda Work of Glenville; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Ronnie Bivens and Donnie Bivens, both of Utica; and four sisters, Ann Scott of Glenville, Shirlene Dant of Elba, Sandy Donahoo of Calhoun and Bonnie Bivens of Owensboro.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in Glenville Baptist cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation is after 3 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Boyce Bruce Wright Sr., 70, of 4021 Carpenter Drive, Owensboro, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Hart County and was a retired manager from American National Life Insurance Co. He was a retired farm manager from Ellis Estates and was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Lucille Wright; a son, Bruce Wright Jr. of Dundee; two daughters, Sharleen Schwartz of Owensboro and Renee Ragland of Glendale; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; his mother, Gwendolyn Wright of Greensburg; two brothers, Hubert Wright and Mitchell Wright, both of Greensburg; four sisters, Wilma Branstetter of Horse Cave, Viva Lyden of Worthington, Ohio, Sue Davis of Greensburg and Brenda Maycher of Indiana, Pa.; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Leesville cemetery in Bonnieville. CALHOUN -- William F. Johnson, 78, of Calhoun died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Calhoun, was a retired farmer and a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. He was a Sunday school teacher for several years, was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and enjoyed working with wood, leather and painting.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Wilma W. Johnson, and several cousins.
Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens, Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. PENROD -- Mabel W. Mallory, 96, of Penrod died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville. She was born in Kentucky, was a homemaker and a member of Penrod Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Mallory.
Survivors include two sons, W.R. Mallory of Penrod and Roger Gail Mallory of West Paducah; two daughters, Audrey Fleming and Mildred McPherson, both of Penrod; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Penrod Baptist Church. Burial will be in Penrod Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation is after 6 p.m. today and from 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Martin Hite Cecil

Martin Hite Cecil, 74, of 5305 Sheffield Drive, Owensboro, died Sunday, March 5, 2000. He was born in Daviess County and was a retired electronics technician from General Electric. He worked in maintenance at Owensboro Catholic High School, was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Martin Cecil.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Therese O'Bryan Cecil; six sons, J. Phillip Cecil of Montevallo, Ala., Henry A. Cecil of Mayfield, Dr. Stephen G. Cecil of Goldsboro, N.C., Ronald L. Cecil of Houston, Jude A. Cecil of Richmond and Arthur M. Cecil of Newburgh, Ind.; two daughters, Rose Mary Cecil and Geralyn M. Ceballos, both of Owensboro; 18 grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; a great-grandchild; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Marion Cecil and Tom Cecil, both of West Louisville; and two sisters, Winifred Riney of West Louisville and Sister Mary Irene Cecil of Owensboro.

Roscoe Kenneth "Bill" Barnard, 93, of 1729 Freeman Ave., Owensboro, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Hartford, was retired from Modern Welding after 40 years and was a member of St. John United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Hartford High School, was a 32nd degree mason and was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and University of Kentucky basketball and football.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Gladys Smith Barnard; a son, Kenneth Smith Barnard of Houston; a daughter, Alyce Jean Barnard Morris of Owensboro; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 1 to 4 p.m. today and after 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Bertha S. Noble Feldpausch, 75, of 924 Locust St., Owensboro, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at her home. She was born in Owensboro, was retired from the General Electric Co. in 1985 and was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral in Owensboro.
Survivors include a son, William Earl Sharp of Owensboro; a daughter, Barbara Feldpausch Avery of Pleasant Ridge; a grandchild; and a brother, Jessie Sharp of Owensboro.

Lucy D. Grigsby, 92, of Roosevelt House I, Owensboro, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was born in Hazard and retired from General Electric Co. after 25 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of Owensboro Civitan Club and a volunteer at the Help Office in Owensboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Verda Grigsby, on July 5, 1964; by two sons, Glenn Grigsby in 1967 and Denver Grigsby in 1980; and by a daughter, Jessie Grigsby, in 1946.
Survivors include a son, Johnny Grigsby of La Follette, Tenn.; three daughters, Geraldine Massie and Jeanette Lambrich, both of Philpot, and Betty "Dixie" Westerfield of Owensboro; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Duff of Columbia City, Ind.; and a sister, Sarah Scott of Owensboro.
Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. FORDSVILLE -- Basil Wilson, 94, of Fordsville died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. He was born in Breckinridge County and was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Lois Wilson, and by a son, J.P. Wilson.
Survivors include two brothers, Cecil Wilson of Fordsville and Earl Wilson of Owensboro; and a sister, Girtia Obenchain of Greenville.
Graveside services are at 10 a.m. today at Pleasant Grove cemetery in Ohio County. Harl-Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville is in charge of arrangements.
Louise Stone Ragland

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Louise Stone Ragland, 86, of Memphis, formerly of Thruston, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at St. Francis Hospital of pneumonia. She was a homemaker and a member of Germantown Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarke Ragland.
Survivors include a son, Ty Ragland of Memphis; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Monday at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis. Entombment was in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Bernard McClellan

GREENVILLE -- Bernard McClellan, 89, of Greenville died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville after a brief illness. He was born in Muhlenberg County and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Lone Star General Baptist Church and was a retired auto mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Ermon McClellan; a daughter, Barbara Peveler of Greenville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Bivins Family cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
