Jonas Michael Sowders, infant son of Mike and Kristi Sowders of 1211 Hutch Lane, Owensboro, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Daviess County.
Other survivors include a brother, Rivers Wilson Sowders at home; his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Janice Durbin of Utica; his paternal grandfather, Charles Sowders of Ohio County; his maternal great-grandmother, Mary Durbin of Utica; three uncles; four aunts; and one cousin.
Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Resurrection cemetery in Philpot. Visitation is from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro.
Violet Tucker

Violet Tucker, 75, of Morganfield died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at her home. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Uniontown.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, the Rev. Robert Tucker; a son, Raymond Tucker of Mount Vernon, Ind.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Jewell Taylor of Utica; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home in Henderson. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Livermore. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Floy Vernon Miller

HARTFORD - Floy Vernon Miller, 89, of Hartford died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Beaver Dam Health Care Manor. She was born in Butler County, was a homemaker and was a member of Humble Valley General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charlie Herbert Miller, in 1991; and two sons, Bobby Miller in 1985 and Wesley Miller in 1989.
Survivors include four sons, Willard Miller and Charles Miller, both of Morgantown, Johnnie Miller of Dundee and Douglas Miller of Owensboro; a daughter, Mary Jane Lee of Blackoak, Ind.; 26 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wavy Finley and Wady Finley, both of Morgantown, and Lonnie Finley of Caneyville; two sisters, Alma Burden of Shepherdsville and Lannie Burden of Beaver Dam; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will be in Sunnydale cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
William 'Dub' Smith

HAWESVILLE - William P. "Dub" Smith, 72, of Hawesville died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City, Ind. He was born in Hancock County, was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline; two sons, Jeff Smith and Pascal Smith, both of Hawesville; two daughters, Gwynda Litherland of Tell City, and Rebecca Payton of Hawesville; four sisters, Daisy Carroll, Lillian Mayfield and Ella Bruner, all of Owensboro, and Lena Bell of Whitesville; seven grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville were in charge of arrangements.
Daniel P. Fleming

Daniel P. Fleming, 60, of 5906 Old State Road, Philpot, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Dallas and was an Army veteran where he was with the 101st Airborne stationed at Fort Campbell. He retired from Alcoa after 26 years of service, was employed at Kimberly-Clark Corp. and enjoyed horseback riding and hunting.
Survivors include his companion, Ann Fleming; two sons, Daniel G. Fleming of Crestwood and Brad Humphrey of Indianapolis; four grandchildren; his mother, Nellie Fleming of Wichita, Kan.; five brothers, David Fleming, John Fleming, Paul Fleming, Phillip Fleming and Mark Fleming, all of Wichita; and three sisters, Patricia Bond, Dana Adkins and Nancy Koob, all of Wichita.
Services are at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Centertown cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Lawrence R. 'Red' Darnell

SPOTTSVILLE - Lawrence R. "Red" Darnell, 78, of Spottsville died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at Methodist Hospital. He was a member of First Assembly of God and Operating Engineers Local 181. He was preceded in death by his wife, Addie Mae Darnell, in 1997.
Survivors include five sons, Ray Darnell, Darrell Darnell and J.D. Darnell, all of Spottsville, Orvis Darnell of Reed and Wilburn Darnell of Henderson; a daughter, Marion Darnell Alstadt of Henderson; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Aleen Eli of Empire and Dottie Yonts of Owensboro.

FAIRDALE - Edward Ted Younger, 84, of Fairdale died Sunday, April 18, 1999, at his home. He was an Army veteran of World War II, retired as a maintenance mechanic from Du Pont De Nemours E I & Co. in Louisville and was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Fairdale.
Survivors include two sons, Patrick "Doc" Younger and Larry Younger of Owensboro; a daughter, Connie Younger-Roach; three grandchildren; a brother, Buck Younger; and two sisters, Kit Riley and Margaret Sostraich.
Services are at 1 p.m. EDT Wednesday at Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd., Louisville, and at 2 p.m. EDT Wednesday at St. Jerome Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Holly cemetery in Fairdale. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. EDT Tuesday at the funeral home. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Clyde Trodglen; a son, James Anthony "Sonny" Trodglen of Owensboro; two daughters, Peggy James and Debbie Hatcher, both of Philpot; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Ruth Conkright, Betty Jo Thompson, Anna Lee Barr and Virginia Hawkins, all of Owensboro.

Barbara Greer Gatewood, 60, of 3229 Ridgewood St., Owensboro, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at her home. She was born in Owensboro, was a member of Church of God of Prophecy and was employed at Stallings Chiropractic Center. She was preceded in death by her son, William Gary Bellamy, in 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Bellamy of Owensboro; two grandchildren; and her mother, Anna Kyle Greer of Owensboro.

Costello of Brownsburg, Ind.; and two sisters, Bessie Garner and Hazel Wilson, both of Brownsville.
