John Bryant
OWENSBORO — John A. “Bill” Bryant, 81, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
He had worked for Texas Gas & Transmission and as a supervisor in the communications department at Williams Gas.
He was a member of the Third Baptist Church and the Baraca Sunday school class.
He was a member of the Antique Wireless Association, Owensboro Rifle and Pistol Club and a fellow of the Radio Club of America.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Spencer of Wenatchee, Wash., and Sharon Davis of Madisonville; and five grandchildren, Sarah and Scott Massamore, Arron Spencer, Erik Bryant and Holly Green.
He was preceded in death by his wife. Leslie Allin, in 1993, and a son, John Allan Jr., in 1995.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Troy Gish
HENDERSON — Troy Gish, 36, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Methodist Hospital. The Henderson County Coroner is investigating the death.
He attended the United Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are his parents, Kenneth and Margie Gish of Henderson; two sisters, Roxy Majors and Teidra Combest, both of Henderson; his grandmother, Cleo Grossman; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Juanita Kessinger
MORGANFIELD — Juanita Kessinger, 76, died of heart failure Friday, March 30, 2001, at Methodist Hospital.
She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.
Surviving are two sons, John Rebo of Jasper, Ga., and William Kessinger of Morganfield; a sister, Elizabeth Cline of Morganfield; a brother, Joe Alvey of Owensboro; and four grandchildren.
Her husband, Kenneth R., died in 1987.
Service arrangements are pending at Whitsell Funeral Home Morganfield Chapel.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with prayer services at 5:30 p.m.

Carson Jenkins Sr.
MORGANFIELD — Carson Gibson Jenkins Sr., 71, formerly of Morganfield, died of respiratory arrest Friday, March 30, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center in Louisville.
He retired from General Electric Appliance Park. He was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville.
Surviving are his wife, Joann; a daughter, Linda DeFew of Louisville; three sons, Carson Jr., Wayne and Steven, all of Louisville; five brothers, Thomas of Louisville, Pete of Henderson, James of Indianapolis, Bill of Morganfield and Jack of Lawrenceburg; and three grandchildren, Adam Steven and Tiffany Rose Jenkins and Ashley Price.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Whitsell Funeral Home Morganfield Chapel, with burial in Boxville cemetery in Union County.

Virginia Cox
HENDERSON — Virginia Cox, 99, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Community Methodist Hospital.
She was a member of V.D. Kennedy Club and Birthday Club at First Missionary Baptist Church and past matron of Eastern Star Rebekah Chapter 7.
Surviving is Clarence Moss of Henderson, who cared for her.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Mason Brothers Audubon Chapel, with burial in Fernwood cemetery.

Maurice Cockrill
EARLINGTON — Maurice Elwood Cockrill, 82, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Regional Medical Center
He retired as a mechanic in 1980 from East Diamond Mine.
He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was a member of the Assembly of God.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Alice (Overton); two daughters, Sandra Love and Karen Wix of Richland; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Oakwood cemetery .

James Midkiff
OWENSBORO — James Otis Midkiff, 59, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville of heart problems.
He was formerly employed as a steelworker at Youngstown Steel in Indiana.
He was a 1959 graduate of Daviess County High School and a Pentecostalist.
Surviving are his mother, Pauline McCarty of Owensboro; a sister, Cindy Williams of Evansville, Ind.; three brothers, Tommy and Charles and Fred McCarty, all of Owensboro; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at Mount Moriah cemetery in Ohio County.

James Cook
HENDERSON — James Larkin Cook, 78, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Methodist Hospital of cancer.
Survivors are two daughters, Ann McLevain of Henderson, and Wanda Cochran of Harrisburg, Ill.; a son, James Cook of Kattawa; a sister, Helen Tanner of Eldorado, Ill.; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
His first wife Mary Elizabeth, died in 1989 and his second wife Mildred, died in 1997.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, with burial in Lake Grove cemetery in St. Charles.

OWENSBORO — John Joseph Johnston, Jr., 70, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehab Center of Parkinson’s disease.
He retired after 30 years at Green River Steel.
He was aa 1949 graduate of St. Francis Academy and a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. He was an Air Force veteran.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Ann Barnett; a sister, Marguerite Welsh; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel.

HENDERSON — Robert “Bob” Phillips, 69, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson, Ky., of a heart condition.
Surviving are his wife Mary; three daughters, Marsha Peach of Zion, Julie Pillow of St. Joe, Mich., and Donna Case of Florida; two sons, Kenneth Williams of Smith Mills and Bobby Murphy of Henderson;two sisters, Sue Clements of Michigan, and Jerri Taylor of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, with burial in Cash Creek cemetery.

Annabelle Mitchell
OWENSBORO — Annabelle (Bellow) Mitchell, 93, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
She was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral.
Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Steele of Owensboro; two sisters, Catherine Riley of Owensboro and Virginia Goodwin of Evansville; a brother, Albert Bellow; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Her husband, Harlan Lee, died in 1988.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Cathedral, with burial in Elmwood cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at James H. Davis Funeral Home.
