Ruth Rhodes
OWENSBORO - Ruth (Legg) Rhodes, 69, of Evansville, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh of cancer.
She retired in 1998 after 18 years as manager of the JLM Chemical Co. at General Electric Co. in Mount Vernon, Ind., and was president of the Legg Oil Co. in Owensboro.
She was a Kentucky Colonel, member of Bethabara Baptist Church in Philpot, Elks Club, Shriners 2 in Owensboro, Transportation Club, Amvets and a 50-years member of Eastern Star.
Surviving are her daughter, Bonnie R. Newcom of Philpot; two sisters, Stella L. Haynes of Mount Vernon, Ind., and Anna Raye Montgomery of Leitchfield, Ky.; three granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home, with burial in Legg Family cemetery in Campton at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Oda Shewcraft
MARION - Oda Lee Patton Shewcraft, 92, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System of injuries in an automobile accident Sunday in Owensboro.
She retired from food service at the Crittenden County school system.
She was a member and former Sunday school teacher at Mexico Baptist Church, member of the Owensboro chapter of Widowed Persons Services, United Daughters of the Confederacy and a Kentucky Colonel.
Surviving are five daughters, Betty Lou Hodges of Marion and Edna Lee Macon, Dorothy Dean Young, Minnie Nell Martin and Carolyn DeSpain, all of Owensboro; two sons, Keith of Marion and Carlton of Rovalton, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Luther Francis, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Gilbert Funeral Home, with burial in Mexico cemetery.

Harold Stewart
BEECH GROVE - Harold C. 'Uncle' Stewart, 80, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree.
He was a farmer, World War II Army veteran and Baptist.
Surviving are a sister, Cova Tapp of Sebree; a half sister, Mary Griffin of Utica; four half brothers, Edward Earl, Charles, J.C. and Paul Stewart, all of Utica; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes Calhoun Chapel, with burial in Bethel cemetery.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Mary Caudill
PROVIDENCE - Mary Agnes Caudill, 74, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree of complications of cancer.
She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and Eastern Star.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna Villines of Providence; two grandchildren, Darren Villines and Christy Grissom; three great-grandchildren; and nephews. Her husband, Earl, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Townsend-Jones Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery in Clay.

Evelyn Lander
PRINCETON - Evelyn Lander, 93, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Princeton Health Care Manor of heart failure.
She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Earlington.
Surviving are a daughter, Pat Lander of Princeton; a son, Cleveland of Princeton; two sisters, Altavia Mayes of Evansville and Etta Hughes of Indianapolis; a grandson, Dexter Lander; and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. J.T. Lander, in 1991 and a son, Robert Marion.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Morgan's Funeral Home, with burial in Cedar Hill cemetery.

'Ray' Mickle
MADISONVILLE - Raymer 'Ray' Rust Mickle, 88 died Monday, May 28, 2001, at National Health Care Nursing Home.
She retired as a teacher from the Hopkins County school system and had taught in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
She was a graduate of Bowling Green Teachers College.
She was a member of the Madisonville First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving is a niece. Her daughter, Patricia Helen Mickle, died in 1996.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time. Barnett-Strother Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

James Beasley
HENDERSON - James E. Beasley, 57, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville of a stroke.
He was Pentecostal.
Surviving are his wife, Marty; a daughter, Debra Ann Beasley of Henderson; two sons, Brad of Reed and James A. of Dixon; two stepsons, Stewart and Robert Carlisle, both of Reed; four sisters, Mildred Beasley and Lucille Billings, both of Reed, Faye Bush of Henderson and Goldie Haire of Spottsville; three brothers, Frank of Zion, Walter of Beaver Dam and William of Paducah; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, with burial in Zion cemetery in Reed.

Preston Thomas
HENDERSON - Preston Thomas, 84, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Methodist Hospital. He was a member of Finley Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Lorene; four daughters, Wanda Hicks of Spottsville; Betty Turner of Morganfield, Pat Williams of Houston and Shirley Ransom of Henderson; two sisters, Jeralene Dixon Pruitt of Henderson and Lorene Bruce of Spottsville; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Ruby Hendrix
EARLINGTON - Ruby Helen Scisney Hendrix, 58, died Sunday, May 28, 2001, at her home of heart failure.
She had worked for Hopkins County Headstart in Madisonville.
She was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hecla, where she served on many committees including the usher board, local missionary group, treasurer of the Missionary Circle 1 and was former director and assistant director of the youth group.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Minor and Ronalyn Williams, both of Earlington; four sons, Tony and Royce Scisney, both of Earlington, Leo Scisney of Louisville and Ricky Scisney of Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters, Virginia Scisney and Anna Wilson, both of Earlington; a brother, James Scisney of Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Her husband, Herbert, died in 1991 and a son, Jeffrey, died in 1966.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Earlington, with burial in Oakwood cemetery.

Nancy Gant
DIXON - Nancy Gant, 68, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. She had congestive heart failure.
She was known as 'The Produce Woman' in Dixon.
She was a Baptist.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Ray; a daughter, Rosa Belt of Providence; three sons, Robert Page and Lewis Gant of Dixon and Curtis Gant of Erin, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Neomi Gant and Ashley Belt; and nieces and nephews.
Services 11 a.m. Wednesday at Townsend Funeral Home, with burial in Highland cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
