Joe Troutman
LIVERMORE - Joe F. Troutman, 95, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at his daughter's home.
He was a farmer and had retired from the State Highway Department.
He was a member and church deacon of Old Buck Creek Baptist Church.
He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
Surviving are two daughters, Ann Mauzy and Pat Hyde, both of Livermore; a brother, A. Roy Troutman of Calhoun; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearlie D. Troutman, in 1974; a daughter, Beatrice Stallings, in 1996; and a son, Kenneth E. Troutman, in 1998.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Muster Funeral Home Livermore Chapel, with burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery in McLean County.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to his great-grandson, the Jacob Whitt Fund.
Bernard Clark
HENDERSON - Bernard C. Clark, 87, formerly of Henderson, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
He worked at an auto dealership in Russellville for three years, Scruggs Motor Co. in Henderson for several years before World War II and Lester Motors from 1958 to 1986.
He was a World War II veteran. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Stovall Clark; a son, Dr. Steven J. Clark of Louisville; a grandson, Barry Clark; a sister, Emma Woods of Durham, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 3 p.m Sunday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville, with burial in Evergreen cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Silas Lee
MORGANFIELD - Silas Lee, 87, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at his home.
Surviving are his wife, Cora; a daughter, Sue Updike of Indianapolis; four sisters, Nancy Jenkins of Henderson, Mildred Springer of Morganfield, Rebecca Higginson of Alva, Fla., and Virginia Floyd of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Walnut Grove Church of Christ, with burial in the church cemetery.

Ethel Williams
HENDERSON - Ethel Loney Williams, 86, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Redbanks Nursing Home.
She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
Surviving are six sons, James Jr., Robert L., Norman G., Darrell W. 'Pokie, - and Steve L., all of Henderson, and Jack E. of St. Louis; 20 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, James F., died in 1981 and a son, Ralph G., died in 1938.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, burial in St. Louis cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m., and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.

Mary Partridge
HENDERSON - Mary Agnes Partridge, 85, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Redbanks Nursing Home. She retired from Klutey's Jewelry Store and was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Martha Foster of Old Town, Fla.; a sister, Mae Elizabeth Dowell of Owensboro; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at noon Friday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, with entombment in Fairmont cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Tapp Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m.
Clayton Faulkner
SEBREE - Clayton 'Shorty' Faulkner, 84, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Senior Citizens Nursing Home in Madisonville.
He retired as a truck driver.
He was an Army veteran.
Surviving are three sisters, Rita Preston and Helen Sohmer, both of Bluefield, W.Va., and Marion Lane of Princeton, W.Va.; and two brothers, Glenzil and Edgel, both of Richwood, W.Va.
The body was cremated. There will be no services or visitation at Tompkins Funeral Homes Sebree-Poole Chapel.
John Strayn
MADISONVILLE - John Ray Strayn, 85, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center.
He retired as a coal miner from the Fies 11 Mines and was a member of the United Mine Workers Local 9653.
He was a member of East Union Baptist Church in Graham.
Surviving are a daughter, Carrell Hughes of Auburn; a son, Donald Lee of Owensboro; three sisters, Omanell Drake of Griffith, Ind., Frances Abney and Billie Gabbert, both of Owensboro; a brother, Lenard of Dunmor; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville, with graveside service at 3:30 p.m. Friday at New Friendship Baptist Church cemetery in Auburn.

Lois Scheffer
HENDERSON - Lois Scheffer, 79, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Methodist Hospital.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Amberson; two daughters, Rita Alexander and Terry Bowling, both of Henderson; a son, Kenny Crowley of Evansville; a sister, Ruth Ray Whitledge of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Walter Kenneth Ray of Claire Shores, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Tapp Funeral Home, with burial in Fernwood cemetery.

Evelyn Orton
MADISONVILLE - Evelyn (Harden) Orton, 87, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the ABC Choir, Upper Room Sunday school class and Eastern Star.
Surviving are two daughters, Jeanette Browning of Madisonville and Patricia Gooding of Richmond, Va.; a son, Bailey of Hermitage, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and seven great-granddaughters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with burial in Hicklin cemetery in Anton.

Mary Gayles
PROVIDENCE - Mary ArtLee Gayles, 86, of Cincinnati, formerly of Providence, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati.
Surviving are nieces and nephews. Her husband preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Townsend-Jones Funeral Home, with burial in Cumberland Hill cemetery. Friends may call from noon to service time.
Pauline Shelton
STURGIS - Pauline Ramona Shelton, 96, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at the home of a daughter in Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was a member of Phillips Chapel CME Church and served on the stewardess board, missionary society and was in the choir.
She was a member of Eastern Star.
Surviving are three daughters, Marian Johnson of Hampton, Va., and Elaine Rencher and Gloria Wilson, both of Fort Wayne; a stepson, LaChester of Indianapolis; a sister, Geneva Scott of Peoria, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tarvin, and three sons, Lloyd James, Seque and Douglas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Chapel CME Church in Sturgis, with burial in Pythian Ridge cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel in Evansville is handling arrangements.
