Henry Hobbs
TOLU - Henry J. 'Doc' Hobbs, 68, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at his home of heart failure.
He was an Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Nellie Hobbs; a daughter, Carla D. Tinsley of Crayne; a son, Rodney Hobs, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; three stepdaughters, Patricia Diane Leatherwood of Bessmer, Ala., Gloria Jean Waters of Evergreen, Ala., and Michelle Brown of Madisonville; three stepsons, Phillip McFerrin of Evergreen, Bobby Joe Hollman of Navarre, Fla., and James Hollman of Brickwood, Ala.; three sisters, Stella Mae Kinsey of Hobart, Ind., Lavine Morrison of Elko, Nev., and Ruby Tinsley of Tolu; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Fern S. Hobbs.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Hurricane cemetery, with military rites.

Agnes Reid
MORTONS GAP - Agnes Uleva (Shoaf) Reid, 96, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Ellen Earle Hinton of Winter Park, Fla., and Rosalyn Jean Cissne and Peggy Reid Newcomer, both of Mortons Gap; a sister, Faye Evelyn Painter of Lewiston, Idaho; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Elmo Reid, who founded Reid Funeral Home with his father and brother, in 1979; a daughter, Barbara Ann (Reid) Bowers; and a son, Lewis Elmo Reid II.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, with burial in Salem cemetery.

Hattie Ball
BEECH GROVE - Hattie Ree Riggs Ball, 75, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at her home of an apparent heart attack.
She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Surviving are a daughter, Martha Henderson of Beech Grove; a son, Gary Ball of Owensboro; two sisters, Mary E. Riggs of Owensboro and Louise Iglehart of Memphis, Tenn.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James K. Ball, last year.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes Calhoun Chapel, with burial in Bethel Baptist cemetery.

Debbie English
PHILPOT - Debbie English, 49, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health Systems of heart failure.
She had been employed as a licensed practical nurse in the nursery at Owensboro Mercy Health Systems for 20 years.
She was a graduate of Greensburg High School and the Glasgow School of Practical Nursing.
She was a member of South Hampton Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 29 years, Wayne English; a daughter, Amy English; a son, Adam English; a stepdaughter, Tina Albritton of Hartford, Wis.; her mother, Doris Morris of Owensboro; a brother, Robert Lee 'Bobby' Morris of Owensboro; and two stepgrandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home, with burial in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro.

Ruby Revlett
BUCK CREEK - Ruby J. Revlett, 64, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health Systems of cancer.
She was a member of Livermore General Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Louis R. 'Farmer' Revlett; two daughters, Debbie Lloyd of Beech Grove and Diana Martin of Buck Creek; two sons, Dennis Revlett of Livermore and Danny Revlett of Rumsey; three sisters, Dorothy Bowlds and Patsy Shock, both of Buck Creek, and Cleta Camplin of Livermore; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m Monday at Muster Funeral Home Livermore Chapel, with burial in Green River Memorial Gardens.

Lovel Shields
HENDERSON - Lovel Lee Shields, 96, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Methodist Hospital.
He was a farmer in Webster County for more than 50 years.
He was a member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 76 years, Verna Shields; three grandchildren, Dane Shields of Henderson, Carolyn Hammonds of Paducah and Trina Burch of Louisville; five great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Langley Shields, in 1998.
Services will be at will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Richard Denton Jr.
HENDERSON - Richard Denton Jr., 65, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Methodist Hospital of apparent heart failure.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Geneva Denton; three sisters, Irene Harley and Wanda Brown, both of Henderson, and Lynn Billings of Owensboro; and nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are pending at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.
Geneva Arnold
MADISONVILLE - Geneva Estelle (Brown) Arnold, 88, formerly of Madisonville, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.
She graduated from Madisonville High School.
She and her late husband owned and operated Arnold's IGA from 1946 until their retirement.
She was a member of Women's Missionary Union for more than 60 years and Madisonville First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school.
Surviving are two daughters, Sue Evelyn Dorsett of Charlotte, N.C., and Barbara Anna Simms of Louisville; a half sister, Elaine Brown Armstrong of Beaver Dam; four grandchildren, Lea Evelyn Tatich, Ann Carlisle McCamy, Cherie Carlisle Rood and Mark Arnold Dorsett; a stepgrandson, Jason Stuart Simms; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. 'Tommie' Arnold, in 1988.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Wallace Couty
OWENSBORO - Wallace Couty, 89, died Monday, July 30, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
He retired in 1977 as a metal inspector for Martin Marietta.
He was a deacon and former trustee chairman at Hall Street Baptist Church and member of the Co-op Sunday school.
Surviving are four daughters, Rovella Mosley, Lula Campbell and Enola Louise Couty, all of Owensboro, and Catherine Gwaltney of Indianapolis; a son, Wallace Ray of Columbus, Ga.; three brothers, John B. of Hawesville, Virgil of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Eugene of Arkansas; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. His wife, Rachel (Butler), died in 1991.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Wilma Hudson
LIVERMORE - Wilma F. Hudson, 72, of Lumberton, N.J., formerly of McLean County, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, in New Jersey of cancer.
Surviving are her husband, E. Carson Hudson; four daughters, Sue Marmino and Mandy Hoffner, both of Medford, N.J.; Bonnie Sereduk of Delran, N.J., and Cindy Hudson of Northfield, N.J.; three sisters, Maxine Davis of Bloomington, Ind., Liz Searcy of Livermore and Carolyn Eaton of Rockport, Ind.; two brothers, Billy and Larry Hudson, both of Calhoun; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes Livermore Chapel, burial pending.
