Thomas Dockery
DAWSON SPRING Thomas H. Dockery, 79, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at the National Health Care Center.
He had owned Dockery Auto Sales.
He was a World War II Army veteran and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5159.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a Mason for more than 50 years and a Kentucky Colonel.
Surviving are his wife, Doris R.; two daughters, Linda Jones and Barbara Kinsolving, both of Princeton, Ky.; two sisters, Bonnie Blair and Margaret Sisk, both of Dawson Springs; a brother, James of Toledo, Ohio; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Beshear Funeral Home, with burial in Rosedale cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Emma Gardner
HENDERSON Emma Julia Pfingston Gardner, 82, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Methodist Hospital.
She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Temple.
Surviving are a daughter, Dannye Gardner of Henderson; three sisters, Ruth Pfingston Yoes of Henderson, Betty Pfingston Meredith Foster of Lafayette, Tenn., and Anna Pfingston Hallenbrook of Pickrington, Ohio; three brothers, Robert Pfingston of Morganfield, Paul Roger Skeeter Pfingston of Corydon and Eddie Pfingston of Sturgis; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Daniel Harris Gardner, died in 1977.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, with burial in Fairmont cemetery.

Edith Hoffius
MADISONVILLE Edith Elizabeth Hoffius, 88, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of Madisonville First United Methodist Church and the A.B.C. Choir.
Surviving are a daughter, Myra Powell of Madisonville; two sons, Edwin of Winter Springs, Fla., and James of North Kingston, R.I.; a sister, Hallie Lowder of Martinsville, Ind.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband, Elmer, died in 1968,
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with graveside services at 3 p.m. Friday at Halls cemetery in Halls, Tenn.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and 8 a.m. to service time.

MADISONVILLE Hewlett Marlin Curry, 61, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, Ill., of cancer.
He was a truck driver for Ligons & Three I Trucking Co.
He was an Army veteran, serving during the Cuban crisis.
He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Dalton.
Surviving are a daughter, Angelia Starks Hillman of Madisonville; a brother, Sammie Wyatt of Madisonville; four grandchildren, Lehia and Alex Curry and Sarah and Timmy Hillman; and nieces.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home, with burial in Pleasant Valley cemetery in Providence, with military rites.

Edward Cohron
HENDERSON Edward Bethel Cohron, 91, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Methodist Hospital.
He retired from Swift Packing Co. in 1964 and from Methodist Hospital in 1974 as a security guard.
He was a member of Bennett Memorial United Methodist Church and a 50-year Mason.
Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Nina; a daughter, Joyce Bingemer of Henderson; two sons, James E. Sr. of Winder, Ga., and Ronald L. of Ocala, Fla.; a sister, Mae Jacobs of Henderson; a brother, Herbert O. Jr. of Henderson; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, with burial in Fairmont cemetery.

Drucilla Hancock
HENDERSON Drucilla Dixon Hancock, 86, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at Methodist Hospital.
She was a graduate of Douglass High School and member of the Greater Norris Chapel Baptist Church and the senior choir.
Surviving are a son, Frankie Moore of Henderson; two granddaughters, Kimberly and Mesia Moore, both of Louisville; a great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel, with burial in Fernwood cemetery.

Michael Foster
MADISONVILLE Michael O. Foster, 56, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center. He had a heart condition.
He was a member of the Moose and past member of Eagles.
Surviving are his mother, Avis Foster Boze of Madisonville; two sisters, Joyce Foster Bush and Shirley Jones Appleby, both of Madisonville; a brother, Daniel Rogers of Madisonville; and a niece and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with burial in New Salem cemetery in Nortonville.

Virgil Rearden
HAWESVILLE Virgil M. Rearden, 57, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at his home of cancer.
He retired from National Southwire Aluminum in 1983.
He was Baptist.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Glenda (Haycraft); a daughter, Angela DeWitt of Hawesville; a son, Gordon Allan of Hawesville; his mother, Beulah Boling Rearden of Tell City, Ind.; a sister, Wanda Faye Stowe of Cannelton, Ind.; four grandchildren, Joshua Poole, Lucian DeWitt and Jordon and Allison Rearden; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Serenity Hills cemetery.

John Cheatham
MORGANFIELD John H. Cheatham, 73, of Sturgis, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Union County of an apparent heart attack.
He had worked at the Ford Garage in Morganfield.
Surviving are his wife, Helen; two daughters, Terri Moman and Rose Thompson, both of Sturgis; a son, Jerry of Morganfield; two brothers, Charles of California and Ollie of Nashville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and two step grandchildren.
A son, John Earl, died in 1955.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Whitsell Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Lillie Wilson
NEBO Lillie M. Wilson, 85, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Surviving are two daughters, Marie Wilson of Nebo and Linda Woods of New Medford, Conn.; three sons, Anthony and W.C., both of Nebo, and Theodore Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Opal Frederick of Florence, Ala., and Dorothy Quinn of Chamblee, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Farliss Wilson, in 1992, and by a daughter and a son.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville, with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Madisonville.

Kandarpa Rao
MADISONVILLE Kandarpa Narahari Rao, 78, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at NHC Nursing Home in Madisonville.
He was a professor emeritus of physics at Ohio State University and recipient of numerous awards from various spectroscopy societies.
He was a former advisor for the U.S. Department of Defense and a consultant to NASA and the Department of Commerce. He was also editor of the International Journal of Molecular Spectroscopy and director of the International Symposium of Spectroscopy.
He was the author of more than 300 scientific publications and books on spectroscopy and was advisor to more than 50 doctoral and post doctoral candidates.
He was a 1950 graduate of the University of Chicago.
Surviving are his wife, Dr. Syamala K. Rao; a son, Dr. Mohan K. Rao of Madisonville; a sister, Janaki Kalavakolanu of India; three brothers, Timmaraju Kandarpa and K.V. Chalapathi Rao, both of India, and Vivekananda Kandarpa of Detroit; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.
