Rulith Morse Jr.
PROVIDENCE — Rulith L. “Boots” Morse Jr., 60, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at his home in Lebanon, Mo., of an apparent heart attack.
He had been a postal carrier.
Surviving are his mother, Irene Morse of Providence; a brother, Mickey R. of Providence; nephews; and his fiancee, Linda Basnett of Lebanon.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Melton Funeral Home, with burial in Lakeview cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Martha Denton
HENDERSON — Martha Ellen Hayes Denton, 54, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at her home of cancer.
She taught elementary school for 27 years, retiring in 1998 from the Bend Gate Elementary School after 20 years.
She was one of the first teachers to serve on the Bend Gate Site Based Decision Making Council and appeared in an instructional video on the functions of the council. She served as a resource mentor for student teachers and was a member of the Kentucky Education Association.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 33 years, Barry; a sister, Linda McCool of Evansville; and a nephew.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, with entombment in Fairmont Mausoleum.

Delpha Phelps
MADISONVILLE — Delpha Phelps, 83, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at National Health Care Nursing Home.
She was a member of the St. Charles Methodist Church in St. Charles and attended Suthards Christian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Dutton and Cindy Mason, both of Madisonville; a brother, James Creasey of Princeton; two grandsons, Robert and David Mason; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, James, died in 1962.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, with burial in Christian Privilege cemetery in St. Charles.

Elmer Blakeman
HENDERSON — Elmer Blakeman, 89, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Community Methodist Hospital.
He was a farmer and owned Blakeman Seed Farm.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Mary; a daughter, Gail Hahn of Henderson; a son, Eric of Henderson; a sister, Christine Hall of LaGrange; a brother, W.C. of Garrard County; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Hershel Rightmyer
LIVERMORE — Hershel L. Rightmyer, 72, of Buck Creek, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at the Owensboro Mercy Health System. He had a heart condition.
He retired after 34 years with the former Western Electric Corp. of Indianapolis.
He was a Army veteran and member of the Buck Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Betty J. (Conrad); a daughter, Shirley A. Stewart of Indianapolis; a son, Louis L. of Indianapolis; a sister, Mary Floyd of Calhoun; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Buck Creek Baptist Church, with burial in St. Charles cemetery in Livermore. Muster Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Donald Mayes Jr.
CALHOUN — Donald E. “Donnie” Mayes Jr., 50, of Bardstown, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Norton-Audubon Hospital in Louisville of congestive heart failure.
He worked at the Ford Motor Co. Truck Division in Louisville.
He was a Vietnam Army veteran.
Surviving is a brother, Joseph W. of Benicia, Calif.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Home Calhoun Chapel, with burial in Calhoun cemetery.

Infant Alexis White
MARION — Alexis Paige White, daughter of Miranda and Ricky White of Marion, was stillborn Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Also surviving are her grandparents, Wanda and Bobby Hamby and Gail and David McDowell; and great-grandparents.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Union cemetery. There will be no visitation at Gilbert Funeral Home.
Milburn Watkins
REED — Milburn Ray Watkins, 68, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at his home of cancer.
He retired as a contractor. He was a Kentucky Colonel.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Delorse; three daughters, Cinda Cooper of Benton Harbor, Mich., Linda Barger of Owensboro and Glenda Watkins-Morris of Reed; a sister, Katherine Skaggs of Henderson; three brothers, Thomas, Sanford and Leo, all of Henderson; two grandsons, Chad Goldsberry and Drew Sandefur; a great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, with burial in Mount Zion cemetery.

Thomas Beck
HENDERSON — Thomas Larry Beck, 61, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Methodist Hospital.
He was Navy veteran and member of American Legion Post 40.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Moose, Honorary Admiral of the Waterways and was a Kentucky Colonel.
He coached Little League football in the 70s.
Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Melva L.; three stepdaughters, Debra Burbon of Henderson, Natasha Bowman of Dayton, Texas, and B.J. Tomberlin of Nauvoo, Ala.; three sons, Thomas Larry Jr., Michael Craig and Edward Neal, all of Henderson; four sisters, Catherine Gaines, Scarlett Herron and Linda Fulkerson, all of Henderson, and Naomi Harris of Indianapolis; three brothers, Pete, Calvin and Alvin, all of Henderson; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Tapp Funeral Home, with burial in Smith Mills cemetery.

Nicholas Varner
OWENSBORO — Nicholas J. Varner, 72, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at his home from congestive heart failure.
He was the owner of Rack ’N Cue Billiards. He had been a farmer. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church and past exotic ruler of the Elks.
Surviving are three sons, Nick and Steve, both of Owensboro, and Mike of Edmond, Okla.; a sister, Florine Spencer of Owensboro; a half sister, Mary Jane Smith of Walton, Ky.; two brothers, Ben of Tell City, Ind., and Frank of Louisville; a half brother, William Rice of Tell City; and four grandchildren.
His wife, Betty, died in 1983.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. John United Methodist Church, with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home.

Martine Ebelhar
OWENSBORO — Martine Payne Ebelhar, 65, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was a hospice patient.
She was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral.
Surviving are four daughters, Karen Miller and Lee Ann Norris, both of Owensboro, Kathy Bivins of Sugarland, Texas, and Judy Wethington of Houston; three sisters, Magdalene Clements of Gilbert, Ariz., Mary Frances Crichton of Elgin, Ill., and Hilda Kopp Wheeler of Newburgh; a brother, Thomas L. Payne of Owensboro; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Stephen Cathedral, with entombment in Resurrection cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at James H. Davis Funeral Home.
