Jewel Gibson

MADISONVILLE — Jewel Gibson, 84, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center.

He retired after 35 years with Peabody Coal Co. and was a member of the United Mine Workers.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Barracus Sunday school class.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Nell; a daughter, Vickie Robertson of Kingston Springs, Tenn.; a son, Rodney of Manitou; a brother, Cleadus of Evansville; and two grandsons, Buddy and Ben Cox.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with burial in Grapevine cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Sybil Case

LIVERMORE — Sybil Marie Peveler Case, 68, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center of an apparent heart attack.

She was a member of Vine Grove Baptist Church in Greenville and attended the Livermore General Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Joanie Frizell and Donna McCoy, both of Livermore; four sons, Dennis, Larry and Jeff Case, all of Livermore; three sisters, Alma Taylor and Mary Wedding, both of Madisonville and Debra Abney of Rumsey; three brothers, Edsil Peveler of Sebree, Wayne Peveler of Owensboro and Norman Peveler of Livermore; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Elmer Ray “Sluggo” died in 1988.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Muster Funeral Home Livermore Chapel, with burial in Island Methodist cemetery.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Margaret Russell

OWENSBORO — Margaret E. Russell, 76, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy health Systems.

She was a member of Audubon Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Cecil S.; three daughters, Beverly Wayne and Brenda Freels, both of Owensboro, and Dianne Payne of Knottsville; a son, Robert W. of Owensboro; three sisters, Carrie Midkiff of Oxford Ala., and Peggy Wilhite and Mary Rose Carlisle, both of Owensboro; three brothers, Miles Simmons of Philpot, Gilbert Simmons of Evansville and Dennis Simmons of Amarillo, Texas; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Church of the Nazarene, with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 1 to service time at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

William Drury

HENDERSON — William B. Drury, 55, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg,

Miss., of cancer.

He was an assistant professor at the University of Southern Mississippi and a Kentucky Colonel.

Surviving are his parents, William and Carolyn Drury of Henderson.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Temple or the American Cancer Society.

Teri Tillotson

HENDERSON — Teri Ann Tillotson, 42, of Crystal River, Fla., daughter of Jim and Nyla (Myers) Tillotson of Henderson, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at Garden Park Medical Center in Gulfport, Miss., of congestive heart failure.

She received her degree in physiology from Florida State University.

Also surviving are a sister, Sheri L. Palmer of Kemp, Texas; and her companion, John Eric Bonner of Crystal Lake, Fla.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Sugarland Memory Gardens Chapel north of Washington, Ind.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Friends of Homosassa State Wildlife Preserve in Homosassa, Fla.

Glenn Dyke Jr.

CLAY — Glenn Edward Dyke Jr., 48, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at Doctors Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo., of a heart condition.

Surviving are a daughter, Melissa Dyke of Tallahassee, Fla.; his mother, Sarah Dyke of Blackford, Ky.; two sisters, Pattie Dolges of Orrville, Ohio, and Pam Glaysbrook of Newburgh, Ind.; and nieces and a nephew.

Services will be at 2 pm. Sunday, at Vanover Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery in Webster County.

Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity or Kentucky Baptist Children’s Home.

Clarence Ebelhar

OWENSBORO — Clarence “Bunny” Ebelhar, 69, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System of an apparent heart attack.

He retired from Bell South Communications and was a member of the board of Telephone Pioneers..

He was a Korean War Navy veteran.

He was a graduate of Brescia University and a member of the the alumni board.

He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and charter member of the Men’s Club. He was hospitality minister, member of the Over 50’s Club, eucharist minister of the sick, McCauley Ministry volunteer, former lay director of Cursillo Movement, active with Owensboro Youth Hockey, Boy Scouts and Little League.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Sidney (Riney); a daughter, Beth Miller of Marietta, Ga.; four sons, Ron of Cincinnati and Rick, Rob and David, all of Owensboro; his mother, Helen Russell Ebelhar of Owensboro; six sisters, Mary Guinn, Beverly Ebelhar and Sister Helen Leo, all of Owensboro, Pat Mearkle of Hartford, Conn., Helen Reinstedler of Louisville and Barbara Ann Powers of Bowling Green; two brothers, Russell of Owensboro and Doug of Hendersonville, Tenn.; and 12 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Immaculate Catholic Church, with burial in Mater Dolorosa cemetery.

Friends may call from 8 to 10 a.m. today at Haley-McGinnis & owensboro Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society at the church or the Telephone Pioneers Charitable Activities.

Ronald Cardwell

MADISONVILLE — Ronald Howard Cardwell, 46, died Wednesday, June 15, 2000, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center of an apparent heart attack.

He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Hanson.

Surviving are his wife, Thalia; two daughters, Jennifer Gibbs of Madisonville and Tonya Francis of Elkton; two sons, Justin and Heath, both of Madisonville; three sisters, Brenda Melton of Slaughters, Ann Gibson of Dixon and Linda Smith of Eddyville; and two brothers, Donnie of Slaughters and Tommy of White Plains.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with burial in Hanson cemetery.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Brenda Burlingame

OWENSBORO — Brenda Burlingame, 53, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System of complications of surgery.

She worked for Caretenders and had been a home health care nurse for 20 years.

She was Baptist and member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Surviving are two sons, Gary and Troy, both of Owensboro; her parents, William Henry and Mary Ann Board of Hardinsburg; four sisters, Peggy Rose of Owensboro, Donna Snodgrass of Cromwell and Beverly Mattingly and Shelia Henning, both of Hardinsburg; a brother, Danny Board of Hardinsburg; and a granddaughter, Brittany McCoy.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home, with burial in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sorgho.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Frances Guill

HENDERSON — Frances Laverne Beck Guill, 75, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at her home.

Surviving are her husband, Owen; two daughters, Rosemary Yeager and Jenny Greenwell, both of Henderson; a son, Paul of Henderson; seven sisters, Bea Wilke, Hazel Byrd, Lois Beck, Anna Inglehart and Cecelia Sutton, all of Henderson, Margaret Clouse of Beaver Dam and Helen Blankenship of Crawfordsville, Ind.; two brothers, Richard Beck of Henderson and Kenneth Beck of Texas; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Tapp Funeral Home, with burial in Fairmont cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm. today, from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to service

time at Tapp Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Gerald Bean

STURGIS — Gerald Bean, 90, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Morganfield.

He had been a coal miner and was a deacon of the First Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Pat Travis of Sturgis; a granddaughter, Helen Boyce Ashby of Bluffton, S.C.; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

His wife, Olive, died in 1999.

Arrangements are pending at Whitsell Funeral Home.
