William Cannon Jr.
SPOTTSVILLE — William “Bill” Cannon Jr., 66, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at his home under hospice care.
He was a retired maintenance worker and a Korean War Army veteran.
He was a member of Spring Grove Baptist Church in Marion.
Surviving are his wife, Betty; six daughters, Karen Austin of Utica, Sheree Evans of Owensboro, Yolanda Seay and Gail Ford, both of Candler, N.C., Stacy Warren of Fletcher, N.C., and Brenda Cannon of Henderson; two stepdaughters, Beverly Price and Mary Jane Breamer, both of Henderson; a son, Wayne of Candler; three stepsons, Michael, Perry and Gary Stone, all of Henderson; two sisters, Pauline Hester of Lineville, Ala., and Rosalie Jenkins of Owensboro; a brother, Robert of St. Louis; 12 grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Tapp Funeral Home, with burial in Fairmont cemetery, with military rites.

Mary Best
DIXON — Mary Akins Russell Best, 69, formerly of Dixon, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at her home in Phoenix.
She was a member of Fairview Church of Christ and Eastern Star Bridgeport Chapter 513 in Bridgeport, Ind.
Surviving are her husband, Charles; a son, Steven Russell of Tennessee; a sister, Wanda Edens of Dixon; a brother, William “Bill” Akins of Dixon; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Townsend Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview cemetery.

Richard Abner
HENDERSON — Richard O. “Jack” Abner, 68, formerly of Corydon, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at his home in Sebring, Fla., of an apparent heart attack.
He was a welder for Alcoa Warrick.
He was a Korean War Army veteran.
He was a Mason, member of Scottish Rite and Rizpah Temple in Madisonville.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Betty; three sons, Dennis Keith of Louisville, Richard Lee of Cairo and William Scott of Henderson; a brother, William H. of Daytona Beach Shores, Fla.; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 pm. Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Garden, with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Martha Walker
STURGIS — Martha M. Walker, 81, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, of cancer at the home of her daughter, Paulanne Stone in Henderson.
She was a life member of Woodland Baptist Church.
Also surviving are a son, David of Sturgis; a sister, Mildred Ware of Morganfield; two grandchildren, Lindsey Stone and Amanda Gantner.
Her husband, Paul, died in 1980.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, with burial in Fairmont cemetery in Henderson.

Hylen Allen
BARNSLEY — Hylen Allen, 74, died Friday, May 11, 2000, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center.
He retired in 1987 from the CSX Railroad after 39 years.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving as a seaman first class and was the recipient of a Bronze Star. He served in the Gunnery Squad of the USS Jesse Applegate in 1944.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Earlington.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Avanell (Bruce); four sons, Anthony of Madisonville, Paul of White Plains, Dwight of Nortonville and Avery of Mortons Gap; two sisters, Elma Wiewel of Madisonville and Mary Lois McMachen of Denver; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by an infant son and a daughter, Judith Hope Allen.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Earlington, with burial in Salem cemetery in Mortons Gap.
Friends may call form 5 to 9 p.m. today at Reid-Walters Funeral Home.

Chiquita Gibson
CLAY — Chiquita Newman Gibson, 71, died Friday, May, 12, 2000, at her home.
She was an Avon Representative and worked in the Webster County school lunch room for 20 years.
She was a member of Walnut Grove Church of Christ and Lady of the Shrine.
Surviving are her husband, Frank “Buddy”; three daughters, Lovica Newman of Clay, Vanessa Schmitt of Owensboro and Yolanda Duncan of Dixon; a stepdaughter, Natalie Moran of Eugene, Ore.; two sons, Kenneth and Phillip Newman, both of Clay; a stepson, Robert Gibson of Murray; two brothers, Charles and James Baker; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Townsend Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the church.
Robert Nall
MADISONVILLE — Robert N. Nall, 78, died Thursday, May 12, 2000, at his home.
He was the former vice president of Peoples Bank & Trust Co. and had worked for 17 years for General Motors Acceptance Corp.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the 819 Quartermaster Corps in Africa and Italy.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Masons, American Legion Post 6 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 735.
Surviving is his wife, Jane (Weatherford).
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Sacramento United Methodist Church cemetery. There will be no visitation at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church outreach or Green River Hospice.
Guy Hendrix
MARION — Guy Davis Hendrix, 86, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Salem Springlake Nursing Center in Salem.
He was a retired rural mail carrier and farmer.
Surviving are a daughter, Joy Wesmoland of Marion; three sons, Carol of Marion, Darrel of Clay and Bruce of Greenville; a sister, Addie Mae Curry of Melbourne, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
His wife, Jewell, died in 1995.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, with burial in Sugar Grove cemetery.

PROVIDENCE — Leonard Tweddell, 77, of Wadesville, Ind., formerly of Providence, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at the home of his son, Tom, in Providence.
He retired from Whirlpool.
He was a World War II veteran.
Surviving are a daughter, Sheila Edwards of Providence; five sons, Edward, John and Terry, all of Lafayette, Ind., and Tom and Steve, both of Providence; a brother, Clyde of Providence; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Melton Funeral Home, with burial in Lakeview cemetery.
