Mary Brantley
MARION, Ky. — Mary C. Brantley, 71, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Crittenden County Hospital of heart failure.
She was a member of Marion Christian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Jo Ann Brantley of Smyrna, Tenn., and Mary Fritts of Marion; a son, Bennie of Maine; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Gilbert Funeral Home, with burial in Mapleview cemetery.

Fern Fierst
OWENSBORO, Ky. — Fern Marie Fierst, 81, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
She taught school in Portsmouth, Ohio, Greenville, Ohio, and in Owensboro at the former Washington School.
She attended First Presbyterian Church.
She was a graduate of Oakland City College and Kentucky Wesleyan College.
Surviving are a daughter, Annette Wetzel of Owensboro; a son, Alan of Chicago; and two grandchildren.
Her husband, Thomas, died in 1981.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in White Chapel cemetery in Princeton, Ind.

MARION, Ky. — Dorothy L. Thomas, 73, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Crittenden County Hospital.
Surviving are a daughter, Debra Barnes of Marion; a sister, Magdalene Clark of Troy, Mich.; a brother, Shelby Bridwell of Marion; a granddaughter, Cindy Barnes; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m.Tuesday at Gilbert Funeral Home, with burial in Hurricane cemetery.

Emuel Adkins
OWENSBORO, Ky. — Emuel Spencer “Stubby” Adkins, 77, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at the home of his daughter under hospice care.
He retired from Green River Steel Corp. and was a retired member of United Steelworkers of America Local 4959.
He enjoyed playing music with the Whitesville Hoe Downers at senior centers and nursing homes.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Hazel (Powers); a daughter, Diana Head of Owensboro; a son, Larry David of Mississippi; a brother, J.D. of Hawesville; three grandchildren; a step grandchild; three great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home, with burial in Memorial Gardens.

Eunice Ramsey
CLAY, Ky. — Eunice Hatler Ramsey, 91, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Medco of Morganfield.
She was a member of White Oak General Baptist Church near Providence.
Surviving are a son, Carl T. Hatler of Providence; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Hatler, in 1946; her second husband, Ray Russell Ramsey, in 1985; and by a son, Frank G. Hatler, in 1959.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville, with burial in Pleasant Grove cemetery near Madisonville.

SPOTTSVILLE, Ky. — Amos Odom, 76, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Redbanks Nursing Home.
He was a member of Local 181 Operator.
He attended Spottsville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Wilma M.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home in Henderson, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson.

DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. — Edna Mae Hibbs, 84, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
She was a Christian.
Surviving are two sisters, Mary Dunbar of Dawson Springs and Catherine Bates of Fredonia; and five grandchildren, Debbie Bell, Kim Hammock and Timothy, Robert and Richard Hibbs.
She was preceded in death by two sons.

Her husband, Zimmer Veloise Berry, died in 1992.

CALHOUN, Ky. — Ruby Jewel McLaughlin, 74, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
She retired from General Electric in Owensboro after 38 years.
She was a member of Southside Church of Christ in Owensboro.
Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Walter Clayton McLaughlin; a daughter, Belinda McLaughlin of Calhoun; a sister, Moline Coons of Louisville; two brothers, Comer Coons of Radcliff and Oliver Coons of Bon Ayr; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Muster Funeral Home Calhoun Chapel, with burial in Poplar Grove cemetery in McLean County.

GLENVILLE, Ky. — Louise (Hill) Chochran Ayer, 84, formerly of Beech Grove, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford.
She retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. in Owensboro.
She was a member of Glenville Baptist Church for more than 65 years.
Surviving are three stepsons, Edward, Bobby and Ranny Ayer, all of Calhoun; four brothers, Johnny Sr. and Darrel Hill, both of Glenville, Bill Hill of Columbus, Ga., and Earl Hill of Owensboro; 11 step grandchildren; and 14 step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Stanley Chochran, in 1960, and by her second husband, Adam W. Ayer, in 1977.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Muster Funeral Home Calhoun Chapel, with burial in Glenville Baptist Church cemetery in Daviess County.
