Faye Brown, 63, of Wilton Manors, Fla., formerly of Bromley, died Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Carl Brown, died in 1976.

Christopher Cavally, 54, of Topeka, Kan., formerly of Cincinnati, died Nov. 15 of cancer. He was a manager of the Minninger Clinic Snack Bar and Grills in Topeka.
Survivors include his stepmother, Joan Harrison Cavally of Cincinnati.

Eileen C. Chell, 70, of Lakeside Park, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired secretary with Henkel Corp., Cincinnati.

Garnet E. "Pete" Fields, 71, of Newport, died at 3:59 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was a retired chef with Green Derby and Barleycorn restaurants, and a member of Rankin-Prout-Carius VFW Post No. 1404, Newport. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Virgil Rice Franks, 78, of Dry Ridge, died Wednesday at Owen County Hospital, Owenton. He was a draftsman supervisor with U.S. Army Engineers Division-Ohio River, Cincinnati. He was a member of Williamstown American Legion Post, and Ludlow Vets. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Kenneth Allen "Sam" Nickerson, 30, of Augusta, died Tuesday at University Hospital, Cincinnati, of injuries suffered in an industrial accident. He was a construction worker with Thomer Construction Co., Campbell County, and a member of Augusta Baptist Church.

August Luersen, man of kindness
August H. "Aug" Luersen couldn't say no to anyone in need.
"He never turned anybody down, whether it was church, neighbors that lived on the street - he never said no to anybody," his son, Paul Luersen of Ft. Thomas, said.
Mr. Luersen, a carpenter since he was 15 years old, used his craft to aid others, helping build homes for his five children.
Mr. Luersen, 83, of Ft. Thomas, died at 8:40 p.m. Thursday at his home.
He was a retired carpenter with Drees Home Builders, Inc., and a member of Carpenters Union Local No. 698. He was a member of the St. Therese Holy Name Society, and the Over 50 Club.
"He was a peaceful, prayerful man," Paul Luersen said. "He went to church every day."
Though he retired at 62, Mr. Luersen stayed active in his union, receiving his 50-year pin in 1996.
But his profession still took a back seat to his family and faith.
"He spent all his time with the family. He loved being around kids. He just adored the grandchildren," Paul Luersen said.
Other survivors include his wife, Mildred Schack Luersen; daughters, Norelyn Springer of Kettering, Ohio, Wilma Luersen of Ft. Thomas and Joan Luersen-Uible of Batavia, Ohio; sons, Thomas and Carl Luersen of Southgate; sisters, Rose Luersen and Armella Roth of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a brother, Harold Luersen of Cold Spring; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Therese Church, Southgate. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Stella M. Conway, 84, of Newport, died Friday at her daughter's home in Vero Beach, Fla.
She was a homemaker.

Christian J. Ebert Sr., 97, of Highland Heights, died at 10:05 p.m. Thursday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights.
He was the retired proprietor of Ebert Meats, Bellevue.

He was a self-employed logger and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Marguerite Blakey Haring, also died in the accident.
