Fanny Ernestine Nelson, 85, of Owensboro died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Wellington Parc of Owensboro. She was born on May 22, 1919, in Hancock County and retired from General Electric Co. as an inspector after 40 years. She was a wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of more than 60 years, Beverly Nelson of Owensboro; a son, Gary and his wife, Kathy Nelson, of Somerset; a daughter, Sue Trautwein of Owensboro; four grandchildren, Dr. Kelly Nelson Quaglia and her husband, Ray, of Philadelphia, Gary Nelson and his wife, Brittany, of Louisville, Nicholas Nelson of Somerset and Susan Campbell and her husband, Brian, of Lexington; three great-grandchildren, Adam, Sophia and Brittany Sue; a sister, Dorothy Sweeney of Hancock; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home chapel. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Alzheimer's Association, 4770 Covert Ave., Suite 211, Evansville, IN 47714.

Mary Pearl Stuart, 91, of 6871 Kentucky 405, Owensboro, passed away Monday, April 18, 2005, at Leisure Years Nursing Home. She was born in Daviess County and was a member of Thruston United Methodist Church. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Rodger William Lamar, Kenneth Carl Lamar and John Eddie Lamar; and a sister, Bertha Sue Lamar.

Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Robert M. Stuart Jr.; two daughters, Janice Ambrose and Sue Napper and her husband, Stewart; a son, Robert S. Stuart and his wife, Ann, all of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Ron Blair Jr. of Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and Michelle Westerfield, Drew and Kelsey Napper and Madison Stuart, all of Owensboro; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary Blair of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Ashley and Alicia Westerfield, both of Owensboro.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Thruston United Methodist Church or to Alzheimer's Association, Evansville Region, 4770 Covert Ave., Suite No. 211, Evansville, IN 47714.

Raymond E. Gray Sr.

CLOVERPORT - Raymond E. Gray Sr., 65, of Cloverport died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Kindred Hospital. He retired from Commonwealth Aluminum as a factory worker.

Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Gray; three sons, David Gray, Raymond Gray Jr. and Tony Gray; three daughters, Michelle Carmen, Bridgett Gray and Crystal Harper; a brother, Glen Gray; and two sisters, Anna Adams and Mary Doyle.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at St. Rose Catholic Church. Burial: St. Rose cemetery in Cloverport. Visitation: From 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wallace-Burns Funeral Home in Cloverport.

James Earl Morris

James Earl Morris, 86, of One Park Place, Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005. He was born in Thruston on July 14, 1918, to the late Henry L. and Nellie Christian Morris. He graduated from Lewisport High School in 1936 and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He had worked for the A&P Grocery Stores for 37 years. During that period, he managed A&P stores in Nashville, Central City and Memphis before retiring from the store in Hopkinsville.

Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Edna Mae Carr Morris; a son and his wife, Jerry and Sharon (KoKo) Morris of Owensboro; a daughter and her husband, Charlotte and Buddy Adams of Louisville; a grandson and his wife, David and Laura Sims of Hopkinsville; two granddaughters, Lacey Morris and Rachel Morris, both of Owensboro; and two great-grandchildren, Mason and Victoria Sims, both of Hopkinsville.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel, with burial following in Yellow Creek cemetery in Thruston. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today and after 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. William Roger 'Sonny' Potter

HARTFORD - William Roger "Sonny" Potter, 72, of Hartford died Monday, April 18, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born Nov. 18, 1932, in Daviess County to the late Roger and Frances Hall Potter. He was a retired farmer and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church near Beaver Dam. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Potter.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Potter of Hartford; a daughter, Sheila Raley and husband, Gary, of Beaver Dam; a brother, Albert Potter and wife, Nancy, of Owensboro; and a granddaughter, Krista Leisure and husband, Corey, of Beaver Dam.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with the Rev. Conard Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam with military rites. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Ralph Ringham

Ralph Ringham, 70, of 530 Yale Place, Owensboro, died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born July 28, 1934, in Perry County, Ind., and was the former owner of the Carpet Barn. He was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God, Eagles Club and Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ringham, in 2001; his parents, Burless and Beulah Cronin Ringham; and a sister, Ruth Knight.

Survivors include a son, James Ringham and his wife, Cheryl, of Owensboro; a daughter, Rhonda Ringham Allen and her husband, Jeffrey, of Flora, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Jeanna Bozell and her husband, Jerry, of Muncie, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, Robyn Johnson, Toni Johnson, Noah Allen, Elesha Ringham, Kendell Roberts, Katlyn Roberts, Taylor Roberts, Madison Roberts, Robin Baker, Shawnee Baker and Brandon Baker; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Ray Ringham and his wife, Carol, of Bowling Green; and a sister, Susan Newton and her husband, Eddie, of Owensboro.

Services are at 2 p.m. today at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home in Owensboro, with the Rev. Lewis Nall officiating. Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Ralph Ringham Memorial Fund.

Ruby Falls Couty

HAWESVILLE - Ruby Falls Couty, 86, formerly of Hawesville, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, from a lengthy illness at the home of her daughter, Judy Gore of Owensboro. Ruby was the youngest of nine children born to the late James and America Emma Easton Falls. She was born Nov. 10, 1918, in Easton. She was a member of the Hawesville Baptist Church and a housewife. Ruby married John Bertice Couty on March 21, 1942, and they were married for 60 years. They made their home at their farm on Happy Hollow Road outside Hawesville until John's death in March 2003. Ruby loved to quilt and garden. She took pride in her cooking and loved to spend time with her family. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, John Bertice Couty, on March 5, 2003; and a son, Michael B. Couty, on Dec. 15, 1975.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley A. and Harold Keown of Crestview, Fla., Debra and Jimmy Owens of Lewisport and Judy and Mike Gore of Owensboro; grandchildren, Jesse Morris of Evansville, Karen Morris of Fort Myers, Fla., Kathy Brown of Philpot and Kaitlyn Gore and John M. Gore of Owensboro; four stepgrandchildren, Dana Eaton of Panama Beach, Fla., Shannon Boyd of Statesville, N.C., Shane Owens of Cleveland, N.C., and Kellie Gore of Grandview, Ind.; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bills Falls of Tell City, Ind.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Hawesville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Roberts and the Rev. Steve Ross officiating. Burial will be in Mount Eden Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville. The family requests that donations be made to Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Hobart Chancellor Jr.

FORDSVILLE - Hobart Chancellor Jr., 72, of Fordsville died Sunday, May 1, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System after a long illness. He was born in Hancock Count on Oct. 4, 1932, the son of the late Hobart and Irene Chancellor. He was a retired farmer and member and deacon of Pisgah Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Corley.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Nancy Hurst Chancellor of Fordsville; a daughter, Sharon McCarthy of Owensboro; a grandson, Eric Colburn of Owensboro; a granddaughter, Kalen Howard of Owensboro; a sister, Betty Davis of Newburgh, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville, with Brother James Jackson and Brother Ray Estes officiating. Burial will be in Beatty cemetery in Hancock County. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Wavie Bartley

BEECH GROVE - Wavie Bartley, 57, of Beech Grove died Saturday, April 30, 2005, in a fishing accident near Beech Grove. Wavie Bartley Jr. was born Nov. 11, 1947, in McLean County to the late Wavie and Laura Bush Bartley. Wavie was a member of the 1965 class of the former Calhoun High School and was married to the former Maggie Lee Dukes on June 28, 1966. He was a lineman for the Kenergy Electrical Corp. and also served as a volunteer for the Beech Grove Fire Department. Wavie also enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and caring for his birds.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Maggie; two sons and their wives, Brian "Earl" and Cindy Bartley and Kelly "Fred" and Della Bartley, all of Beech Grove; a daughter and her husband, Wavina and Mike Cecil of Owensboro; eight grandchildren, Luke Cecil, Rusty Cook, Myles Sweat, Kayla Bartley, Niel Bartley, Alex Colburn, Jenna Bartley and Gatlin Cecil; three brothers, James Robert Bartley of Indianapolis; Otis Bartley of Sacramento and Dale Bartley of Beech Grove; two sisters, Fannie Harrington of Day Light, Ind., and Virginia Wright of Bremen; and several nieces and nephews.

Joint funeral services for Wavie and his son, Sam Bartley, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Midkiff and the Rev. Guy Haddock officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun cemetery. Friends may visit with the Bartley family from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Musters in Calhoun.

The Bartley family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Beech Grove Fire Department, P.O. Box 65, Beech Grove, KY 42322. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.

Ernest Lucky Staples Sr.

LOUISVILLE - Ernest Lucky Staples Sr., 60, of 1642 Longfield Ave., Louisville, went to his Heavenly Father on Monday, May 2, 2005, following a battle with cancer at his home. He was born Aug. 1, 1944, in Muhlenberg County. He was a self-employed building contractor and a member of Free Will Baptist Church in Louisville.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Pauline Staples of Louisville; a son, Ernest Jr. and Kristy Staples of Louisville; a daughter, Stacy and David Foley of Louisville; two stepdaughters, Vickie and Phil Stevens of Somerset and Rita and Sorb Chaharlang of Albuquerque, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; five sisters, Shirley and Mike Carver and Sue and Ray Piper, all of Belton, Dorothy and P.J. Piper of Beech Creek, Lois Toomey of Huntsville and Myrtle Dennis of Utica; and two brothers, Jimmy and Hilda Staples of Drakesboro and Rondal and Ruth Staples of Utica.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home, with the Rev. Billy J. Maynard presiding. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery in Butler County. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
