Jeffrey L. Flint

Jeffrey L. Flint, 53, of 136 Boothfield Road, Owensboro, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born May 15, 1951, in Newfane, N.Y., and graduated from Hilton High School in Hilton. He received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Houghton College in Houghton, N.Y. He entered the U.S. Army in 1975 and worked in White House communications along with the Secret Service under presidents Ford, Carter and Reagan. He worked in military intelligence while serving in Germany, Korea and many locations in the United States. He was awarded numerous medals and commendations, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Service Badge, Army Achievement Medal and several others. He retired from the National Security Agency in 1996. He was property manager at the Owensboro YMCA and a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Valorie Young Flint; four daughters, Angela Flint Edmonson, Tiffany Flint, Kristi Flint and Whitney Flint; and a grandson, Javin Flint, all of Owensboro; his father and mother, Clyde and Grace Flint of Hendersonville, N.C.; a brother, Mark Flint of Hollie, N.Y.; a sister, Nancy Burns of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and his father- and mother-in-law, Robert and Jane Young of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Walnut Memorial Baptist Church, and burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery with military honors conducted by VFW No. 696. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, and from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home. The family requests donations be made to Walnut Memorial Baptist Church, 3300 Frederica St., Owensboro, KY 42301.

BREMEN - Ethel E. Hancock, 101, of Bremen died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Brighton Corner Stone Health Care in Madisonville. She retired as head cook from Bremen School and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bremen.
Survivors include a son, Robert Hancock; and a daughter, Ola Mae Clark.
Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bremen. Burial: Odd Fellow cemetery in Madisonville. Visitation: From 5 to 8 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Lie-in-state: From 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Edward M. Hauser Sr.

TELL CITY, Ind. - Edward M. Hauser Sr., 80, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at 8:55 p.m. at Beverly Health Care in Tell City. He was born Oct. 16, 1924, in Tell City. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma (Linne) Hauser; three brothers, Bob, Walter and Albert Hauser; and four sisters, Anna Frieler, Stella Kieser, Hilda Schriefer and Theresa Stroud.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Faye (Kelly) Hauser of Tell City; six sons, Larry of Tell City, Ron of Washington, Ind., Danny of Cannelton, Ind., Pat of Tell City, Edward of Owensboro and Charles Gray of Cannelton; seven daughters, Janice Weaver of Mooresville, Ind., Janet Kitchen of Ten Mile, Tenn., and Mary Noble, Rose Parker, Melissia Stinogel, Theresa Gronguist and Rachel Doogs, all of Tell City; 28 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Hauser of Sun City West, Ariz.; and a sister, Wilma Jean Bledsoe of Springfield, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. EST Tuesday, March 15, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, 920 10th St., in Tell City. Burial will take place in Greenwood cemetery in Tell City. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. EST today and from 9 to 11 a.m. EST at the funeral home.
Glenda Sumner Morcz

Glenda Sumner Morcz, 63, of 1600 Mayo Ave., Owensboro, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at her home. She was born on Feb. 10, 1942, in Daviess County to the late Arvin and Flora (Roberts) Sumner. She was a member of the Pentecostal faith. She retired as an assistant supervisor for the Executive Inn Rivermont. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laszlo "Lester" Morcz on May 11, 2004.
She is survived by two sons, Gabor Steven Morcz and Geza Shaun Morcz, both of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Ashton B. Morcz and Garrett W. Morcz, both of Owensboro; and by two sisters, Bettie Sato of Pocatello, Idaho, and Terrie Taylor of Arizona.
Services are at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sorgho. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home.
Catherine H. King

Catherine H. King, 94, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 11, 2005, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. She was born March 30, 1910, in Daviess County and was a homemaker. She was a member of Third Baptist Church and enjoyed bowling, was a University of Kentucky basketball fan and an animal lover, especially of her black cat. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forest Morgan King in 1962; a son, Jon Byron King in 1965; her brothers, Sam and Harold Harrington; two sisters, Ruth Von Ashton and Louise Pennington; and a half sister, Elsie Garvin.
Survivors include three sons, Bruce E. King of Beaver Dam, Forest M. King II of Louisville and Roger King of Owensboro; a daughter, Jonell Maxon of Overland Park, Kan.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Williams of Owensboro, JoAnn Fischer of Tell City, Ind., and Margie Gentilcore of Manchester, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Byrd, the pastor of Third Baptist, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis. The family would like to thank everyone at Hillcrest who cared for her over the last year.
Winnie Webb Duffee

HAWESVILLE - Winnie Webb Duffee, 83, of Heartland Villa, formerly of Hawesville, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in Hancock County on June 5, 1921, to the late Leslie and Lannie Jackson Best. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and worked at Woodcrafters and Curry Farms. She enjoyed flowers, quilting, her grandkids and working in the garden. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hazel Webb.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Charles Duffee; two daughters, Debbie Simpson of Lewisport and Sue Nell Cambron of Hawesville; a son, Raymond Webb of Tell City, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Jill Duffee of Orlando, Fla., and Jan Barron of Lakeland, Fla.; two stepsons, Chuck Duffee of Fort Knox and Jack Duffee of Orlando; two sisters, Patty Shock of Owensboro and Maggie Mattingly of Tampa, Fla.; five grandchildren, Kathy Birchler, Theresa Sanders, Melissa Shearn, Angela Simpson and Phillip Cambron; nine great-grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday, March 14 at Union Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Jim McDaniel and the Rev. Ray Estes. Burial will be in Serenity Hills. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
James A. 'Abbie' Covetts

James A. "Abbie" Covetts, 74, of Lewisport died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Leisure Years Health Center in Owensboro. He was born June 6, 1930, in Lewisport the son of the late Allen and Mary Sipes Covetts. He was a member of Lewisport Baptist Church and served during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Army. He was an honorary Lion and a Kentucky Colonel. He assisted in the construction of the Lewisport Lions Club Community Center and was one of the original barbecue chicken fund-raiser cooks in the community. He coached Lewisport Little League and enjoyed gardening, flowers and woodworking. He was retired from National Southwire Aluminum.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Mark Covetts in 1999; a grandson, Joshua Morris in 2001; and a special niece, Marcia Kay Moorehead.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Iris Fay Covetts of Lewisport; a son, Brad Covetts of Lewisport; a daughter, Debbie and her husband, Roger Morris of Lewisport; a daughter-in-law, Beth Covetts of Lewisport; a brother, Billy and his wife, Joyce Covetts of Lewisport; six sisters, Faye Bittle of Lewisport, Louise and her husband, Wallace Cohron of Morgantown, Dorothy Emmick of Lewisport, Betty and her husband, Paul Voyles of Lewisport, Mary Covetts of Lewisport and Sue Allen of Lewisport; and grandchildren, Jordan Morris and Rachel and Tyler Covetts; and a stepgrandson, Charlie and his wife, Laura Beth McCaslin.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 14 at 2 p.m. at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport with the Rev. Curtis Barnes and the Rev. David Voyles officiating. Burial will be in Lewisport cemetery. Visitation is today after 2 p.m. and from 8 a.m. until service time Monday at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home. Gordon S. Fieldon

Gordon S. Fieldon, 83, of 3610 Forward Pass, Owensboro, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Ohio County on April 23, 1921, to the late Fount Smith Fieldon and Lola Leva (Westerfield) Fieldon. He retired as an engineer for Felmont Oil Corp. He was a member of First Baptist Church and an Air Force veteran of World War II, having served as a bombardier.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Opal Lee Melhizer Fieldon; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and David Altom of Frankfort; a grandson, Sean Altom; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Reba and Vernon Cole of Hartford and Peggy and Milton Daugherty of Owensboro.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel. Burial is in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Carl Frederic 'Fred' Walz Sr.

EVANSVILLE - Carl Frederic "Fred" Walz Sr., 87, of Evansville passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Deaconess Hospital. Fred was born on January 27, 1918, in Evansville. He graduated from Holy Trinity Grade School in 1931, graduated from Central High School in 1935 and attended evening classes at Evansville College. Fred and his late wife, Jayne, resided on Feltman Drive for more than 50 years. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946, and he was stationed at the Naval Supply Depot in Oakland, Calif. While in the Navy, Fred completed courses and passed exams ranking to chief petty officer. He was an assistant in the initial set-ups for the advance bases in the Pacific Theater. Fred retired in 1983 from International Steel Co. as director of purchases after 47 years of service. He was the past president and director for the National Purchasing Association from 1966 to 1967. Fred was the founding president of the Stringtown Community Men's Club in 1951, past director of the Evansville Foreman's Club and loan executive for the United Way in 1981. Fred was a longtime member of Old North United Methodist Church, where he served as the chairman of the board of trustees, official board, commission of finance and social concerns. He was also on the building committee of the Boy Scout cabin and the Sunday school building and was co-chairman of the building committee for the New Sanctuary in 1953. Fred was a Sunday school teacher at Old North UMC for 12 years. Fred also was the Boy Scout institutional representative for 15 years. After retirement, Fred became an avid golfer. He enjoyed playing the piano, spending time with his family and friends and was loved by all. Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jayne Hardy (Welsh) Walz, on March 28, 2004.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Frederic and Tammy Walz of Dale, Ind., Donald Joseph and Kathy Walz of Evansville and Jonathan David and Joan Walz of Lynnville, Ind.; grandchildren, Amy (Walz) Ancheta, Andrew F. Walz and Anne Walz, Tracy Walz, Tiffany Walz and Joseph Walz, Justin Walz and Katherine Walz.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., with the Rev. Jeff Buck officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park cemetery, where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Browning Funeral Home. John William Millay

John William Millay, 75, of 525 Bolivar St., Owensboro, died March 10, 2005, at his home. He was born Sept. 17, 1929, in Daviess County and retired from Kelley Wilmore as a telephone construction worker. He was a member of SS. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed bicycling and trading. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Millay on May 4, 1981, and Catherine Bea Mattingly Millay on Dec. 19, 2001; and a daughter, Delphine Roby, on Jan. 1, 2004.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary Millay; two sons, Rick Millay and his wife, Imelda, of Sorgho and Larry Millay and his wife, Diana, of Masonville; three daughters, Margaret "Maggie" McNeely and her husband, John, of Owensboro, Brenda Simmons and her husband, Gene, of Owensboro and Vickie Woods and her husband, Ricky, of Versailles; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five brothers, Claudie Millay of Knottsville, Buck Millay of Owensboro, Herbert Millay of Hartford, Tommy Millay of Owensboro and Mike Millay of Owensboro; six sisters, Agnes Harley of Owensboro, Clara Brown of Knottsville, Betty Payne of Knottsville, Rosie Merserve of Knottsville, Stella Higdon of Knottsville and Marguarite Lanham of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at SS. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Brian Roby officiating. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Mary 'Naomi' Heaverin Jenkins

Mary "Naomi" Heaverin Jenkins, 90, of 530 Yale Place, Roosevelt House II, Owensboro, went to be with our Lord after a long illness on Thursday, March 10, 2005. She was born Feb. 18, 1915, to the late Nettie Ellen Keeton and Isadore Heaverin in Leitchfield. She was a member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church, worked for many years at Remnant House in Owensboro and enjoyed being a Kentucky Colonel. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.N. Jenkins Sr.; and four siblings, Juanita Keeton, Agnes Krawinkle, Paul Heaverin and Isadore Heaverin Jr.
Survivors include two sons, L.N. Jenkins Jr. of North Carolina and Philip H. Jenkins of Lewisport; a daughter, Sally Richardson of Lewisport; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Kenneth Keeton of Florida; and two sisters, Dorothy Keeton Hindmon of Russellville and Mae Heaverin McGrew of Fordsville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2005, at Lewis Lane Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Monday. Estle S. 'Junior' Isbell

Estle S. "Junior" Isbell, 78, of Smyrna, Tenn., formerly of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville. Born April 22, 1926, in Daviess County, Mr. Isbell was the son of the late Estle James Isbell and Veva Hancock Isbell. He was retired from Bowen Tire Co. and was a member of the Crabtree Avenue Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 696. He enjoyed music and outdoor activities and was a real people person.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nina Taylor Isbell; three sons, Dan Isbell of Huntsville, Ala., Jimmy Jarboe of Owensboro and John Isbell of Smyrna; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Winchester of Highland, Ind.; and a brother, Carroll Ray Isbell of Owensboro.
Funeral services are private with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation. Glenn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
