LAMAR, Ind. -- Ursula Louise Neuhoff-Raven, 63, of Lamar died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004.

Survivors include her husband, James Raven; a daughter, Elizabeth Neuhoff; and three sons, Michael, Steve Ludwig and David.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Fuller Funeral Home and Crematory in Dale, Ind. Burial: Little Pigeon cemetery. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Irene Pogue Self

Irene Pogue Self, 74, of 2710 Lewis Lane died at 3:01 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born March 29, 1930, in Beech Creek and was a homemaker and member of the Baptist church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and reading. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lee Self, who died Oct. 19, 2003.

Survivors include a son, Danny Self of Owensboro; a daughter, Becky Simmons of Owensboro; a grandson and his wife, Kevin and Beth Simmons of Maceo; a great-granddaughter, Madeline Simmons of Maceo; a great-grandson, Preston Simmons of Maceo; a niece, Tammy Blanchard of Headland, Fla.; and a nephew, Michael Pogue of Cleveland, Tenn.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home chapel. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery. The Rev. Greg Huguley will officiate. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Ohio Valley, Inc.

Dabney S. Taylor

FORDSVILLE -- Dabney S. Taylor, 57, of Fordsville died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was employed at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Survivors include his brother, James Taylor.

There are no services or visitation. James H. Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John William Helm

John William Helm, 70, of 3819 Lewis Lane, Owensboro, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville. An Owensboro native, born to the late William "Bill" Helm and Mary Hardesty Helm, Mr. Helm retired from OMU after 38 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He was in the first graduating class of Catholic High and scored the first touchdown in the fall of 1951. He had an associate degree from Brescia College in electrical engineering. He drove for the city transit system, GRITS, and later Owensboro School System after retiring. He played bass guitar for the Country Sunshine Band for 40 years. He enjoyed playing music with his friends and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching football and basketball.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty Helm; his son, Chris Helm and wife Linda of Louisville; a daughter, Diana Wall and husband Steve of Owensboro; and granddaughters, Rebecca and Natalie Helm of Louisville and Lori Beth, Christie and Stephanie Wall, all of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be held at noon today at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with entombment in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. today at Glenn Funeral Home.

Marvin E. Gaither

Marvin E. Gaither, 79, of Wesleyan Park Drive, Owensboro, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Alexandria, Ind., to the late Everett and Myrtle (Mann) Gaither. He was retired from Tom's Appliance Sales and was a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Mary Freels Gaither; a son, Scot E. Gaither; two brothers, Russell Gaither of Leesburg, Fla., and Delbert Gaither of Laurel, Fla.; and a sister, Dorothy Wright of Jonesboro, Ind.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Nellie Duncan Oller

BEAVER DAM -- Nellie Duncan Oller, 79, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at her home. She was born in Horse Branch, was a retired factory worker, a caretaker for the elderly for the last 20 years and a clogger who loved to dance. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Oller.

Survivors include a son, Dwight G. Payton Sr. of Horse Branch; a daughter, Jonee Farmer of Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Billy Duncan of Horse Branch and Herbert Duncan of Phenix City, Ala.; and a sister, Faye Coye of Fulton.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. today at St. Francis Community Center in Horse Branch. Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam will be in charge of arrangements.

Ina P. Wahl

Ina P. Wahl, 96, passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Leisure Years Nursing Home. She was born in Daviess County and lived all of her life here. She was one of the oldest members of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church, and she liked reading, walking and visiting family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed watching "her boys" (UK) play basketball. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie A. Wahl, in 1983; a daughter, Mrs. Jean Lindow, in 1983; and a son, David W. Wahl, in 1995.

She is survived by two daughters, Wanda L. Hufnagel and husband Jack, and Suzanne Blandford and husband Bill, all of Owensboro; and two sons, Bob Wahl and wife Shirley, and Gary J. Wahl and wife Linda, all of Owensboro. She has 14 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Walnut Memorial Baptist Church.

Carrie M. Allen

Mrs. Carrie M. Allen, 97, of Owensboro died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Leisure Years Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 10, 1907, to the late Polk and Amanda Hamilton Prewett in Dixon, Mo. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Centralia, Ill., the Order of the White Shrine and Order of the Eastern Star in Centralia. She was a homemaker and loved reading, cooking and being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Allen, who died in 1980.

Survivors include a daughter, Wilma Bredar of Owensboro, two grandchildren, Carrie and her husband, John Oliver, of Owensboro and James and his wife, Sallie Bredar, of Danville; three great-grandchildren, Jamie and John Michael Oliver, both of Owensboro, and Patricia Bredar of Danville; a sister, Hazel Edwards of Hillsboro, Ill.; and a brother, Ralph Prewett of Plant City, Fla.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Hillcrest cemetery in Centralia. Online condolences may be made at https://www.glennfuneralhome.com. Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Frederick 'Fred' Drury

Thomas Frederick "Fred" Drury, 59, of 140 St. Anthony Road, Lot 10, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at his home. He was born May 6, 1945, in Daviess County to Archie Joseph Drury Sr. and Margaret Genevive Stuart and was an Air Force veteran. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, carpentry and reading. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arch J. Drury Jr. in 1999 and Anthony Francis Drury in 1936; and a sister, Mary Beverly Drury in 1952.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Cain Drury and wife, Joy Westerfield Drury, of Owensboro; a daughter, Heather Drury Clemens and husband, Randy, of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Mary Keaton and Cecilia and Nicholas Clemens, all of Owensboro; a brother, John Michael Drury and wife, Linda, of Prospect; and five sisters, Anna Theresa and husband, Jim Cline, of Leesburg, Fla., Mary Margaret Drury of Owensboro, Charlotte Mae Hayden of Owensboro, Rosalia Drury Maddrey and husband, Charles, of Atlanta and Emily Anthonette Winterson of Duxbury, Mass.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Cathedral. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Peters cemetery in Stanley. The Rev. John Vaughn will officiate.
