Denver Ray 'Dee' Moore Sr.

LEWISPORT - Denver Ray "Dee" Moore Sr., 67, of Lewisport died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at his home of a heart attack. He was born June 4, 1937, in Muhlenberg County, the son of the late John B. and Eula J. Moore. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Moore and Drexel Moore. He was retired from Lipton (Unilever Bestfoods North America) and attended Phillip's Chapel Church in Owensboro. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR, University of Kentucky basketball, horses and his dog, Aussie. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Melnita Sacra Moore; two daughters, Galena Moore Brown (Tony) and Marcie Moore Simpson (Kevin); one son, Denver Moore Jr. (Carolyn); five grandchildren, Elizabeth, John Marsh, Denny Ray, Morgan and Emma; three sisters, Townes Gossett, Frances Young and Willie Lou Kidd; and two brothers, John Moore and Gene Wayne Moore.
Services will be Thursday, Aug. 26, at 2 p.m. at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport with the Rev. Alva Sutton officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and from noon until service time Thursday. Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church cemetery in Philpot.
Juanita Pendley

MORGANTOWN - Juanita Pendley, 84, of Morgantown died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. She was born in McLean County and was a housewife and member of Big Muddy Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar H. Pendley; her parents, Azro Dixon Clark and Fannie Ann Floyd; and a son, David Pendley.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Bartlett and husband, Roy, of Hartford and Norma Dean Edmonds and husband, Melvin, of Island; a brother, Granvill Clark and wife, Gladys, of Livermore; six grandchildren, Glen Bartlett of Owensboro, Melissa Drake of Olaton, Troy and Roy Phillips of Sacramento, John Pendley of Scottsville and Robert Pendley of Lafayette, Tenn.; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Smith Funeral Home in Morgantown. Burial will be in Sandy Creek cemetery in Morgantown. Visitation is after 4 p.m. today, Aug. 23, and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Margaret 'Inez' Hundley Roby

Margaret "Inez" Hundley Roby, 84, of 2118 Sunset Drive died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at her home. She was born Feb. 9, 1920, in Daviess County to Jasper Hundley and Caroline McKay and formerly worked at General Electric for 13 years. She was a homemaker and member of Immaculate Catholic Church. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, gardening and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Lafe Roby, who died in 1998.
Survivors include a daughter, Lesa Roby of Evansville; 38 foster children; many beloved nieces and nephews; a brother, Jim Hundley of Owensboro; and a sister, Louise Morris of Stanley.
Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Catholic Church. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Peter cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Vista Care Hospice, 601 S.E. Richard 'Dick' Joseph Haase

SAN ANTONIO - Richard "Dick" Joseph Haase, 1913-2004, passed away on July 28, 2004, after a 10-month battle with cancer, in San Antonio. He was born in Oak Park, Ill., and had roots in Owensboro because of the Taylor family farm. Richard was the second son of Virginia Taylor Haase and Elmer Joseph Haase. He worked for Shell Oil in Houston until his retirement and lived a very active life until recently. He enjoyed traveling, bird watching, skiing and whitewater rafting in the last five years of his life. He had the reputation among family and friends of being able to fix almost anything. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.
Richard is survived by his sister, Eleanor Phillips; his sons, Richard and Robert; his daughters, Virginia and Elizabeth; and his grandchildren, Michael, Kathryn, Patricia, Ricki Lee, Benjamin, Elizabeth and Bernard. He also leaves behind his great-granddaughters, Taylor and Shannyn; his nephews, Kenneth Phillips and David Phillips; and nieces, Sara Fink, Camilla Haase and Eleanor Haase and their children. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert, in 1996.
Richard's ashes will be buried next to those of his beloved wife of 49 years, Lucile Goudy (1918-1988) in the Hawes family cemetery in Maceo on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004. For information, please contact Ben Taylor at 270-264-5270.
Nadine Gillim

NARROWS - Nadine Gillim, 85, of Narrows died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, in Indianapolis. She was born in Breckinridge County and was a homemaker. She was a member of Friendship Church of Christ. Mrs. Gillim was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Peyton Gillim, on April 3, 1991.
She is survived by two sons, Bernard Gillim and wife Charlotte of Elizabethtown and Dale Gillim and wife Gayle of Bowling Green; two daughters, Bernice Higdon and husband Don of Bloomington, Ind., and Sue Taylor and husband Bob of Lexington; one sister, Christine Moxley of Fordsville; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville, with burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Magan. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Opal Long Stevens

LIVERMORE - Opal Long Stevens, 84, formerly of Livermore died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, at her daughter's home in Greenville. Opal was born Jan. 24, 1920, in McLean County to the late William Albert and Pearl Pate Long. She was a homemaker and a member of Richland Baptist Church. Opal enjoyed visiting with her family and friends and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Stevens on March 10, 1972.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Betty and Leo Troutman Jr. of Greenville; a grandson and his wife, Leo and Tracy Troutman III of Greenville; a granddaughter and her husband, Myra Sue and David Stanley of Calhoun; eight great-grandchildren, Jamie Armstrong, Jennifer Armstrong, Laura Armstrong, Karalyn Troutman, Holly Troutman, Steven D. Stanley, Blake Martino and Chad Martino; three great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Hosea Brown of Livermore.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with the Rev. Truman Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery in Livermore. Friends may visit the Stevens family from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of services Sunday at Musters in Livermore.
Willis W. Wilke Jr.

Willis W. Wilke Jr., of Owensboro, formerly of Henderson, age 88, died at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Redbanks Nursing Home in Henderson.
Mr. Wilke was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Henderson. He was president of the men's Bible class for many years. He was a member of 958 F&AM past master. He worked for the L&N and CSX railroads for 42 years. He was a devoted husband and father. He was an avid gardener of roses and he loved hunting and fishing. His granddaughter, Naimeh, said he was the best over all. His sons said he was the best and most loving father one could have.
Mr. Wilke was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Wilke on Nov. 11, 1998; his son, James William Wilke on Jan. 15, 1964; and his two brothers, Henry Lee Wilke and William Bill Wilke.
Survivors include two sons, Lonnie and Stephanie Wilke of Henderson and Michael and Deborah Wilke of Owensboro; eight grandchildren, Scott Wilke, Steve Wilke, Christi Wilke Barrett, Kara Wilke, Brent Taylor, Shaeden Madi, Noor Madi and Naimeh Madi; several nieces and nephews; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Wilke will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home in Henderson. The Rev. John Conn will officiate. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday by Masonic Lodge 958 at the Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fernwood cemetery in Henderson. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and again from 8 a.m. until service time on Monday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Alzheimer's Association.
Frank Charles Ridgeway

Frank Charles Ridgeway, 59, of 615 Dornell St., Owensboro, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on Oct. 25, 1944, in Beaumont, Texas, to the late Waymon W. and Mae (Emberton) Ridgeway. He was formerly the head baker for Dan Dee Bakery. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam era and was a former member of the AMVETS, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two sons, Frank C. Brewer and Michael Stewart, both of Owensboro; several grandchildren; and a brother, Ritter W. "R.W." Ridgeway of Owensboro.
Services are at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday and from noon until 2 p.m. on Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home.
Ruth Ann Shore Payne

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Ruth Ann Shore Payne, 68, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Ind. She was a homemaker and a member of the Evangel Tabernacle in Louisville.
Surviving are her husband, Carl Payne of New Albany; a son, Carl Glenn Payne of Charlestown, Ind.; two daughters, Connie Morgan of Clarksville, Ind., and Sherril Paules of Killien, Texas; a sister, Katherine Wolverton of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, Ind. Funeral services will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Silver Creek cemetery in Sellersburg. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Jeffersonville YMCA.

Sylvia Dale Hall Miller, 67, of Owensboro died there Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. She retired from Montpelier Glove Factory and was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Maceo.
