Ruby L. Brown

LIVERMORE - Ruby L. Brown, 82, of Livermore died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at her home. Ruby was born Feb. 19, 1922, in McLean County to the late William Albert and Pearl Pate Long. She was a homemaker and a member of Livermore Baptist Church. Ruby enjoyed gardening and being with her family, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Dean Brown, on Dec. 8, 1974; and a daughter-in-law, Pat Brown, on Dec. 1, 1999.
Survivors include a son, Hosea Brown of Livermore; a granddaughter and her husband, Sherri and Joe Turley of Sacramento; two grandsons, Tim Brown and Patrick Brown, both of Livermore; two great-grandsons, Graydon and Trevor Turley, both of Livermore; a sister, Opal Stevens of Greenville; and a niece and her husband, Betty and Leo Troutman of Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel, with the Rev. Truman Johnson officiating. Friends may visit with the Brown family from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at Musters in Livermore.
The Brown family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Livermore Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o the Rev. Gary Shockley, P.O. Box 8, Livermore, KY 42352. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Livermore.
Leslie Calvin Crick

Leslie Calvin Crick, 82, of Utica died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Greenville to the late John Crick and Mattie Deason Crick. He was retired from Burch Plow Works in Evansville and TVA of Paradise. He loved NASCAR racing and honorably served his country under the command of General Patton of the 3rd Infantry during World War II, where he was wounded and received his Purple Heart.
Survivors include a son, Johnny and Tracy Crick of Greenville; four daughters, Leslie Karen and Ricky Page of Utica, Pamela and Bart Richardson of Vine Grove, Sherry Warren of Henderson and Brenda Jo and Duane Atherton of Utica; 11 grandchildren, Chad, Seth, Brittany, Autumn, Natalie, Misty, Jarred, Clint, Stephanie, Dawn and Jennifer; six great-grandchildren, Sidney, Caris, Hayden, Katie, Chelsey and Madison; and a sister, Irene Pate of Greenville. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Crick of Salem, Ind., and Robert Crick of Greenville; and three sisters, Lorene Crick Johnson, Jimmie Crick Thompson and Nellie Crick, all of Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Hershel Drake officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Woodland cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will be this evening from 5 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Etoy Midkiff Norris

FORDSVILLE - Etoy Midkiff Norris of Fordsville died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. She was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Ray Norris, in August 1965; a son, Orion Ray Norris, in January 1988; and a grandson, Dewayne Norris, in January 1984.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne and Melinda Norris and George and Thelma Norris, all of Reynolds Station; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Fon Midkiff of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cecil Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cates cemetery in Whitesville. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Eva Mae Northerner Wheeler

HARTFORD - Eva Mae Northerner Wheeler, 86, of 1209 Humphrey St., Hartford, died at 1:50 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree. She was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Otwell, Ind., to the late Joseph Northerner and Cordella Smith Northerner. She was a homemaker, floral designer and member of Arthur (Ind.) Baptist Church. Her husband, Paul Raymond Wheeler, died Dec. 30, 1982.
Survivors include two daughters, Gayle McDowell of Big Clifty and Sherry Atherton of Tilden; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 16, and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery in Hartford. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Anthony's Hospice, P.O. Box 305, Dixon, KY 42409.

James Brank 'Red' Slaughter

CENTRAL CITY - James Brank "Red" Slaughter, 87, of The Courtyard, Central City died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at his residence. He was born in Todd County on Sept. 17, 1916. Mr. Slaughter was a retired welder from P&M Paradise Mine and was a member, Sunday school teacher and elder at Mount Zion Presbyterian Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel, inventor, avid fisherman and football fan. He was known as "Mr. Red" to many former Central City Elementary students for teaching time, measurements and counting money.
Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Brenda Sue (Lane) Casebier, Betty Joyce Thomas, Mary Alice (Gary) Divine and Sarah Ann (Jim) Brown, all of Central City; a sister, Mildred Wilson of Lebanon, Ind.; grandchildren, William Allen Ashby, Timothy Lane (Frankie) Ashby, Laura Lynn Thomas (Allen) Polk, Amy Carol Divine (Joey) Draper, Jeremy Robert Divine, Kathryn Brown House, Monte (Lynette) Casebier, Marty (Megan) Casebier, and Micah (Sabrina) Casebier; great-grandchildren, Natalie Ashby (Larry) Stallings, Coty Wynn, Robert Davis, Langley Polk, Gaven House, Krysta House, Alex Draper, Erin Draper, Alex Casebier, Nicholas Casebier and Eden Blair Casebier; and special caregivers, Tallie Miller, Brenda Jarvis and Debbie Williams.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian M. Gossett Slaughter on Dec. 22, 1999; his sister, Ethel Slaughter; and three brothers, Elwood, J.G. and Vernon Slaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Jim Brown, pastor of Mount Zion Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Monday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City.

Everett C. Rolley

GREENVILLE - Everett C. Rolley, 94, of 1651 U.S. Highway 189 South, in Greenville, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at 9:50 a.m. in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 8, 1910, in Muhlenberg County the son of William Rolley and Dora Ellen McElvain Rolley. He was a UMWA coal miner for Wright Coal Co. in Beech Creek. He retired in 1971 after 30 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Edna Washington Rolley, on April 12, 1977.
He is survived by two brothers, G.B. (Mildred) Rolley of Greenville; William Edge (Juanita) Rolley of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at 1 p.m. from Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Corley Chapel cemetery in Graham. Friends may call today between 5 and 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Monday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville.
Everett 'Bud' Horn

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Everett "Bud" Horn, 80, of Rockport died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. He was a millwright.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Anne Horn; two sons, David W. Horn and Dwight L. Horn; a daughter, Pamela Jo Lindauer; and a sister, Maxine Horn.
Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Zion Church in Richland, Ind. Burial: New Hope cemetery in Newtonville, Ind., with military services by American Legion Post 254. Visitation: From 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Masonic services: 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Richard 'Dick' Joseph Haase

SAN ANTONIO - Richard "Dick" Joseph Haase, 1913-2004, passed away on July 28, 2004, after a 10-month long battle with cancer, in San Antonio. He was born in Oak Park, Ill., and had roots in Owensboro because of the Taylor family farm. Richard was the second son of Virginia Taylor Haase and Elmer Joseph Haase. He worked for Shell Oil in Houston until his retirement and lived a very active life until recently. He enjoyed traveling, bird watching, skiing and white water rafting in the last five years of his life. He had the reputation among family and friends of being able to fix almost anything. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.
Richard is survived by his sister, Eleanor Phillips; his sons, Richard and Robert; his daughters, Virginia and Elizabeth; and his grandchildren, Michael, Kathryn, Patricia, Ricki Lee, Benjamin, Elizabeth and Bernard. He also leaves behind his great-granddaughters, Taylor and Shannyn; his nephews, Kenneth Phillips and David Phillips; and nieces, Sara Fink, Camilla Haase and Eleanor Haase and all their children. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert in 1996.
Richard's ashes will be buried next to those of his beloved wife of 49 years, Lucile Goudy (1918-1988) in the Hawes family cemetery in Maceo on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004. For information please contact Ben Taylor at 270-264-5270.
Douglas Wainwright Glenn

Douglas Wainwright Glenn, 61, of 377 Boling Road, Utica died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on Oct. 10, 1942, in Grayson County to the late James Glenn I and Virginia (Stevenson) Glenn. He was a member of Local 561 Laborers, retired from Carpenter's Local 549 and was a Mason. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and was an Air Force veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda J. Glenn; two sons, Jimmy Glenn of Owensboro and Travis Glenn of Pleasant Ridge; a daughter, Danielle Horn of Owensboro; a stepson, Bruce Crabtree of Owensboro; three stepdaughters, Donna Hall of Richland, Ind., Cindy Stiff of Utica and Alicia Myers of Rockport, Ind.; several grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; a brother, Bill Glenn of Spencer County, Ind.; and three sisters, Mary Searcy, Hazel Embry, Marjorie Woodard and Frances Abell, all of Leitchfield.
Visitation and services are private with Brother Tim Roberts officiating. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.
Lillian Taylor Crowder

Lillian Taylor Crowder, 92, was born July 23, 1912, in Ohio County and died Saturday, July 31, 2004, in Los Angeles where she lived with her daughter, Sue Crowder Cutler, for the last 11 years. Lillian, widow of Dr. Marion O'Connell Crowder, lived most of her life in Owensboro.
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, she is survived by her only daughter, Sue; as well as her grandchildren, Curt (Kelly) Scheyhing and Susan (Wayne) Gordon; step grandchildren, Susan (Jeff) Cutler, Nancy (Steve) Lieberman, Sandra (Walter) Boyles and Andy Cutler; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her memorial service will be Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at 4 p.m. at the Pacific Unitarian Church, 5621 Montemalaga Dr., Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. (310) 378-9449.
