Reva J. Wright

BEECHMONT - Reva J. Wright passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, July 27, 2004, in Muhlenberg County Hospital in Greenville following a long illness at her home in Beechmont.
Reva Nell (Jenkins) Wright was born Jan. 19, 1917, in Rosewood in Muhlenberg County. Her parents were Victor and Eva Jenkins and she was the third child of four, Bernice McLemore and Melvin Shelby Jenkins, both deceased, and Tom Jenkins, who lives in Lexington.
Her husband was the Frank E. Wright, who died Nov. 11, 1982. During his lifetime both he and Reva worked in Louisville, and they owned the Frigid Whip, an ice cream business in Drakesboro. She is survived by her only child, Frank E. Wright Jr. He and his wife, Nora, live in Beechmont, where they operate a retail motorcycle parts and repair business. She is also survived by her brother, Tom Jenkins, his wife, Harriett; and also by four nieces and nephews.
Reva was a graduate of the class of 1935 at Hughes Kirkpatrick High School in Beechmont, and she attended the Bowling Green Business University. She was an astute, capable businesswoman and worked in offices in Louisville and Greenville during her lifetime. She managed her own business affairs up until a few days before she died.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Drakesboro, where she and her late husband served faithfully. In 1987 she was honored by the First Baptist Church in Drakesboro and was presented a plaque for her 31 years of service as church clerk. Throughout most of her lifetime, she was active in Order of the Eastern Star. Reva and her husband, Frank, were active members of the Gideons International, a Bible placement organization for motels and hotels, and she was active in distributing nurses' testaments in hospitals and Muhlenberg County.
Gifts in memory of Reva J. Wright may be sent to First Baptist Church in Drakesboro or Gideons International Bible Society in Lebanon, Tenn.
Visitation will take place at Tucker Funeral Home in Beechmont from 5 to 9 p.m. today, July 28. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Greenville.
Mary Elizabeth Wedding

SANTA CLAUS, Ind. - Mary Elizabeth Wedding, 84, of Santa Claus died Thursday, July 23, 2004, at her daughter's home. Mary was born on March 5, 1920, in Pellville to the late Emmett and Edna (Ruark) Jackson. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart G. Wedding in 1974.
Surviving are two sons, Darrel Wedding of Newburgh, Ind., and Wyman Wedding of Evansville; two daughters, Beverly Smith of Santa Claus and Mary Rigsby of Overland Park, Kan.; two brothers, Allen Jackson of Evansville and Louis Jackson of Rockport, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport with the Rev. Robert Nall officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of service on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Hospice in Huntingburg, Ind.
James Darrel Miller

LIVERMORE - James Darrel Miller, 58, of Livermore died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at his home. James Darrel Miller was born Jan. 29, 1946, in Ohio County to the late Leonard and Helen Miller and was later married
to the former Rebecca Lou Crowe. He had retired from the TVA Paradise Plant and was a member of the Livermore Missionary Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and also enjoyed horses. His wife, Rebecca Crowe Miller, died July 29, 1996.
Survivors include a son, Jarrod Scott Miller of Livermore; and a brother, Gary L. Miller of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel, with the Rev. Doug Anderson and the Rev. Gary Shockley officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery in Livermore. Friends may visit with the Miller family from 11 a.m. until time of services Thursday at Musters in Livermore.
The Miller family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Livermore Missionary Baptist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 8, Livermore, KY 42352. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Livermore.
Terry Wayne 'Lucky' Best

FALLS OF ROUGH - Terry Wayne "Lucky" Best, 58, of 781 Pine Ridge Road, Falls of Rough, died at 7:55 p.m., Sunday, July 11, 2004, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield. He was born Feb. 27, 1946, in Daviess County and retired as a citizens band radio technician. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the Baptist faith and national president of Outhouse Motorcycle/CB Club. His hobbies included CBs and Harleys. He was preceded in death by his father, James Best; his mother, Dorothy Bartlett, in 2004; and his daughter, Regina Rose Best, in 1967.
Survivors include his wife, Vicky Bratcher Best; his father, Johnny Bartlett of Owensboro; his stepmother, Alberta Best of Owensboro; five sons, Terry Wayne Best Jr. of Hornwall, Tenn., Roger Lee Best of Falls of Rough, Dwayne Edward Best of Robards and Christopher Bishop and Derick Scott Bratcher, both of Owensboro; three daughters, Tina McCarthy, Donna Fegett and Julia Bell, all of Owensboro; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Bishop and Beth Mattingly, both of Owensboro; 17 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four brothers, Donnie Whitaker, Mike Best, Harry Best and Barry Best, all of Owensboro; and six sisters, Jean Black of Falls of Rough, Patty Hayden and Cindy Roberts, both of Owensboro, Susie Bartlett of Utica, Diana Hendricks of Owensboro and Becky Goldsberry of Marshall, Ill.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home chapel. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Myrtle Mae Black

BEAVER DAM - Myrtle Mae Black, 91, of Beaver Dam died Friday, July 16, 2004, at her residence. She was born in Ohio County and retired as a school teacher from Beaver Dam Elementary. She was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church near Beaver Dam. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie D. Black, who died Sept. 13, 2002; her parents, Eddie and Carrie Barnard Heflin; and two brothers, Harold Heflin and Wendell Heflin.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Black of Beaver Dam and Eddie Black of Brownsburg, Ind.; a daughter, Linda Leisure of Louisville; a brother, Fred Heflin of Beaver Dam; two sisters, Gaynell Warren of Beaver Dam and Helen Cook of Commerce, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to services Monday at the funeral home.
Hildred E. Paxton

GREENVILLE - Hildred E. Paxton died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. A Muhlenberg County native, Mr. Paxton owned and operated Red Arrow Delivery Co. in Evansville for 25 years before retiring to Muhlenberg County. He was also assistant building manager of Evansville Vanderburgh County School Corp. He was superintendent of the Greenville Utilities Commission, executive director and board member of Muhlenberg County Opportunity Center, past president and board member of Muhlenberg Industrial Development, Central City councilman, chairman of the Council on Aging, World War II veteran and Bronze Star recipient and a Kentucky Colonel.
He was a member of Gideons International, Reed Lodge 32nd degree Mason, Evansville Scottish Rite Temple, Greenville United Methodist Church and Central City Rotary Club.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Givens Paxton; two sons, Eddie J. Paxton of Lexington and Steven H. Paxton of Lake Bluff, Ill.; a stepson, Rick Givens of Siler City, N.C.; three grandchildren, Amy Mellinger, Blake Paxton and Ashley Paxton of Lexington; a stepgrandson, Dustin Givens; and three great-grandchildren, Blake II, Paige and Hadley. Mr. Paxton was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Paxton.
Visitation is at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Vernon Purdue and the Rev. Bob Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Memorial gifts may be made to Gideons International.
Jackie Wayne Beliles

DRAKESBORO - Jackie Wayne Beliles, 63, of Drakesboro died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at his home. He was a retired coal miner and a member of Forest Oak Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Drake Beliles; three daughters, Pam Pendley, Angie Maxfield and Amy Watkins; his mother, Agnes Beliles; a brother, Jerrell Beliles; and a sister, Linda Southerland.

Thomas Howard Rose

BREMEN - Thomas Howard Rose, 81, of 128 Rose Lane, Bremen, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. He was born on April 21, 1923, in the Martwick community of Muhlenberg County. His parents, Grover and Lillie Rose; a son, Tommie Rose; and two brothers, Gene Tunney and Jack Rose all preceded him in death. He was a retired boilermaker with Local Union #40 for 41 years and a faithful, active and loving member of Church Street General Baptist Church in Bremen. His favorite activity was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth Grundy Rose; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Phyllis Rose of Bremen, Mack and Pam Rose of Bremen and Sid and Becky Rose of Bremen; eight grandchildren, Kelly Rose and Gina Wright, Tanya and Jeremy Rose and Ashlyn, Collin, Isaac and Eli Rose; three great-grandchildren, Hunter and Emma Rose and Hannah Wright; and three sisters, Mary Bell Steele of Powderly, Margaret Krumrie of Portage, Ind., and Judy Peck of Florida.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 25 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Danny Greene and the Rev. Tom Carroll officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today with a boilermakers rites service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

NEWBURGH, Ind. - John R. Coombs, 88, of Newburgh died at his residence Sunday, July 25, 2004. Born in St. Louis on June 1, 1916, he received dual degrees in petroleum and geological engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. He was an independent geological engineer. He was a long-time member of Trinity Episcopal Church and a member of the church choir.
Services for John will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 27, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 720 Ford Ave., Owensboro, Viewing will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the church. Interment will be Wednesday, July 28, in Louisville at Cave Hill cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. BILOXI, Miss. - Melissa A. Waid, 36, of Biloxi, formerly of Lewisport, died Monday, July 5, 2004, at UK hospital in Lexington. She was born Feb. 1, 1968, at Gallipolis, Ohio, the daughter of Ramon Rex Bomgardner and Brenda G. (Stewart) Vetter. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Bradley Waid of Biloxi; two sons, Jeremy Waid and Jacob Waid of Biloxi; two sisters, Julie Bomgardner Burchett and Erin Bomgardner, both of Tell City, Ind.; her father, Rex Bomgardner of Lewisport; her mother, Brenda Vetter of Gallipolis; her grandparents, Gertrude and Calvin Stewart of Gallipolis; three nephews, Jamon and Travis Burchett of Tell City and Jaden Basham of Lexington; a niece, Chelsey Conner of Tell City; and many loving family members and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home with Brother Roger Jarboe officiating. Burial will be in Lewisport cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.
