Louva Ford Medley

Louva Ford Medley, 90, of Owensboro died Monday, June 14, 2004, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Ohio County, Mrs. Medley was retired from Medley Distillery and was a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Wathen Medley, in 1953; and a son, James Bernard Medley, in 1991.
She is survived by two sons, Byron Edwin Medley and George Edward Medley, both of Canton, Texas; two daughters, Cora Ellen Hall of Elizabethtown and Margaret Stanley of Conroe, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers, C.W. Ford of Cromwell and Harlan B. Ford of Crown Point, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Mater Dolorosa cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to James B. Medley Memorial Fund, c/o Owensboro Catholic High School or Western Kentucky Botanical Gardens.
Matilda Ellen 'Tillie' Bickett

SMITHFIELD - Matilda Ellen "Tillie" Bickett of Smithfield, formerly of Whitfield, died peacefully at home with her family on Monday, June 14, 2004. She was born on Sept. 2, 1921, in Hardinsburg. She lived most of her life in Whitesville in Daviess County. James C. "Tuck" Bickett, her husband of 42 years, preceded her in death. Mrs. Bickett was a former member of St. Mary of the Woods parish in Whitesville where she served in numerous capacities for the service of the church including her work with the Legion of Mary and the annual church picnic. Prior to her marriage to Tuck, she worked in public jobs, including the shipyards in Evansville during World War II as a welder for the war effort. She was a homemaker and seamstress and, jointly with her husband, ran the family farm. Mrs. Bickett and her son Sam relocated to Smithfield in 1998. She resided there with Delvenia and Jack Stumph until her death.
She leaves behind 13 children, Mary Frances Howard of Whitesville, Claudia Ellen Applebee of Bowling Green, James Paul Bickett of Baton Rouge, La., Doris Faith Schooler of Newburgh, Ind., Barbara Lois Bickett and Nora Lucille Bickett of Prospect, Dinah Marie Devoto of Villa Hills, Paula Jane Shaw of Crestwood, Samuel Joseph Bickett and Susan Delvenia Stumph of Smithfield and Lillian Antoinette Holliger, Cornelia Geraldine Ellis and Martha Josephine Paulin of Louisville; 34 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Joe Whitfill, Guy Whitfill, Lonnie Whitfill, Margaret Matthews, Ebbie Tanner, Emily Bland, Jean Powers and Ruth Hazelwood.
Cecil Funeral Home is handling arrangements in Whitesville. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. Thursday. The Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening. The Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Whitesville.
Ruth C. Orth

CHANDLER, Ind. - Ruth C. Orth, 82, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at her residence in Chandler. Ruth was born Jan. 7, 1922, at Stevenson Station to Charles and Lottie (Vann) Espenlaub. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Boonville, Ind. Ruth retired from Deaconess Hospital after 35 years of service. Ruth was a member of Artist Guild and enjoyed painting for her family and enjoyed traveling and reading all the books in the Chandler Library. Preceding Ruth in death are two brothers, Carl and Oscar Espenlaub; and her husband, George Orth, in 1984.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Raymond and her husband, Ronnie, of Lewisport, Patricia Arnold and her husband, Tom, of Lamar, Ind., and Beverly Sue Gammon and her husband, Gary, of Tobinsport, Ind.; two sisters, Rae Miller and her husband, Thomas, of Mattoon, Ill., and Imojean Cox of Evansville; a brother, Harold Espenlaub and his wife, Jean, of Newburgh; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at Koehler Funeral Home, Perigo chapel, 7022 Heim Road, Chandler. The service will be officiated by Pastor Robert Shofner. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery in Evansville. Friends may call today from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Ruth may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ or Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure.

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Norma J. Partridge, 69, of Rockport died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Survivors include five daughters, Rose Anna Lasher, Rebecca Gentry, Renee Partridge, Rachael Risse and Robin Kaye Philipps; and a brother, Wyman B. Houston.

CENTRAL CITY - Reba May Noffsinger, 89, of Central City died Sunday, July 4, 2004, at her home. She was a homemaker and member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen.

Dana Wilson Hall Tucker

Dana Wilson Hall Tucker, 88 of 233 Bon Harbor Cove, Owensboro, formerly of Dublin, Va., passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born Sept. 13, 1915, in St. Charles, Va., she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Georgia Ella Denny Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, John Boland Tucker Jr.; and is also preceded in death by three grandsons, John Edward Tucker, Jeffrey Brian Tucker and Joseph Scott Tucker; three brothers, Daniel Hall, Wyatt Denny Hall and Oswald Morrison Hall; and one sister, Oma Lee Hall Watson. She was a longtime member of the Dublin United Methodist Church, having joined the church on July 20, 1946, and was a member of the Cheerful Adults. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Dublin with 25 years of service as an assistant postmaster. She was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 113, where she was a worthy grand matron in both the Dublin and Pulaski chapters. She was also a former secretary-treasurer of the Pulaski County Democratic Women's Association.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, John Bolin Tucker III and wife, Johnsie F. Tucker, of Owensboro, Robert D. Tucker and wife, Vivian F. Tucker, of Moneta, Va.; grandchildren, Dianna Leigh Tucker and husband, Kevin Mauzy, Tracy Mink Morris, Robert D. Tucker Jr. and wife, Jennifer Pope Tucker, Dana M. Tucker and Denny M. Tucker; great-grandchildren, Jack Tucker Mauzy, Taylor Ashley Morris, Mary Carolynn Tucker and Reece McCauly Tucker; sisters, Marion Louise Hall Smith of Pennington Gap, Va., and Mary Ella Hall Anderson of Kingsport, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Dublin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Lockerby and Rev. Michael Travis officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dublin United Methodist Church, where an Eastern Star service will follow. The family wishes memorial contributions in her memory to be made to the Dublin United Methodist Church, 424 East Main St., Dublin, VA 24084. Bower Funeral Chapel in Pulaski is in charge of arrangements.
Elbert Louis Bruner

MADISON, Tenn. - Elbert Louis Bruner, 60, of Madison died Thursday, July 29, 2004. Mr. Bruner was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Hendersonville, Tenn., and was a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College class of 1966. Mr. Bruner was employed for 40 years as a plant accountant with A.O. Smith Corp., formerly General Electric, in Owensboro and Scottsville.
Survivors include his loving wife, Cheryl L. Bruner; a daughter, Erika Hall; a son, Byron (Linda) Bruner; two granddaughters, Rachel Bruner and Haley Hall; and a brother, Arthur John Bruner Jr.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from noon until 9 p.m. at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, 127 N. Main St., Goodlettsville, Tenn. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Crockett officiating. Friends will serve as pallbearers. Contributions may be made to the Bible Baptist Church Building Fund, 260 New Shackle Island Road, Hendersonville, TN 37075. Interment will be in Forest Lawn cemetery.
Charles 'Sonny' Lee

Charles "Sonny" Lee, 66, of 5958 Macedonia Road, Owensboro, formerly of Atlanta, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born Aug. 24, 1937, to the late Loy and Anna Lee, in Atlanta. He was Navy veteran of the Korean War, retired from Acme Lock and Key and was a self-employed safe mechanic. Sonny was a member of the Safe and Vault Technical Association, the American Locksmiths of America, AA and NA and had a strong passion for hunting.
Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Susan Lee of Owensboro; a son, Loy and his wife, Allison Lee, of Douglasville, Ga.; a stepson, Tim Murphy of Owensboro; two stepdaughters, Kristy Murphy of Owensboro and Rachelle and her husband, Ted Lanham, of Cleveland; six grandchildren, Abby Murphy, Madeline and Molly Lanham and Bridget, Chris and Erica Ewald; two brothers, Russell and Mike Lee, both of Douglasville; and a sister, LoyAnn Archilles of Dallas.
Funeral services will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, at Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 319 W. 10th St., Owensboro, KY 42301.
Robert E. Moore

LYNNVILLE, Ind. - Robert E. Moore was born Aug. 25th, 1930, in Lynnville to James (Jack) and Sarah Moore. He was president of his senior class and a basketball player for the Lynnville Lindies during high school. He retired from Alcoa in 1993 after 27 years in mechanical maintenance. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, a member of the National Rifle Association, the Tonkinese Breed Association and an avid NASCAR fan. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin; his parents; and a brother, Charles W. Moore.
He is survived by Patricia, his wife of 27 years; six sons, Jeff (Debbie) of Newburgh, Keith of Oakland City, Stacy (Tracie) of Marion, Ill., Rob (Heather) of Mount Carmel, Shane (Sherri) of Evansville; a daughter, Kathy, of Florida; and a stepson, Robert Raymer (Kim) of Houston. He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren, Brian, Eric, Bronson, Danielle, Christopher, Ryan, Nadine, Whitney, Kerby, Tara, Shane, Merzie, Christa, Bhrett, Kelsey, Trenton and Tyler; and two great-grandchildren, Max and Blake. He is also survived by a brother, Jim Moore of Little Rock, Ark.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Alexander Funeral Home, Newburgh Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery in Newburgh. LEWISPORT - Rachel Faye Howard Goins, 74, of Lewisport died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born Sept. 14, 1929, in Hancock County, the daughter of the late Benjamin "Ben" and Lucille (Bryant) Haney. She was a member of Lewisport Baptist Church and was employed at American Olean Tile. After her retirement she went to school to become a cosmetologist and owned and operated several salons. She enjoyed her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ansel Howard; her brothers, Waitman Haney, William Haney, Roy Haney and Bob Haney; and a sister, Pauline Goffinet.
Survivors include her husband, Ed Goins of Lewisport; a son, Benny Howard of Lewisport; a daughter, Alice Faye and her husband, Bobby, Fallin of Lewisport; two brothers, Carl Haney of Lewisport and Lester Haney of Owensboro; three sisters, Margaret Capauno of Sanborn, N.Y., Katherine James of Tell City, Ind., and Shelby Jean Estes of Lewisport; grandchildren, Jim and David Fallin, April Bryant, Valerie Ferry, Leah Knight, Elizabeth Howard and Benny Howard II; and great-grandchildren, Alex, Molly, Hannah Jill, Lexia, Taylor, Haley, Courtney and Evan.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home with Brother Harry Spurrier, Brother William S. Roberts, Brother Curtis Barnes and Brother Ray Estes officiating.
