Lula Mae Ellis 77, of the Pack Community in McLean County. Died Tuesday October 15, 2002 at the Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun. She was born in Muhlenberg County, was a homemaker, and a member of the Pack Baptist Church. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and helping to take care of her grandchildren. Her husband, Herbert B. Ellis died October 30, 1987.
Survivors include a son Donnie Ellis of Pack. A daughter Brenda Hedges of Livermore. Three grandchildren Donald Ellis of Pack, Melissa Hedges, and Joy Hedges both of Livermore. 4 great grandchildren. And a sister Gladys Abrams of Calhoun.
Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Poplar Grove cemetery in McLean County. Visitation is from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Billy Joe “B.J.” Dailey 50, of Rumsey, Kentucky. Died Monday September 30, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and was a underground coal miner currently working at Ken American Resources of Central City. He was a member of the Nebo Baptist Church, and was a 26 year member of the United Mine Workers Association. He was preceded in death by his parents Bill & Bernice Dailey; and a brother Harold Dailey died January of 1983.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years Sheila McLaughlin Dailey. Two sons Derek S. Dailey, and Mark E. Dailey both at home. Three brothers Charles Dailey of Martin, Tennessee, Larry Dailey, and Danny Dailey both of Nebo. Six sisters Martha Jane Hill of Robards, Diane Maxey of Clay, Kathy Gerber of Florida, Darlene Lansden of Madisonville, Margaret Springfield of Dixon, and Debbie Jones of Nebo. Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Poplar Grove cemetery in McLean County. Visitation is from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Robert F. Magruder 88, of Glenville, Kentucky. Died Tuesday September 10, 2002 at the Owensboro Mercy Health Systems in Owensboro. He was born in Daviess County, had retired as a supervisor in oil field production, and was a member of the Glenville Baptist Church where he had served as a Church Deacon for several years. He enjoyed antique steam engine shows, and spending time with his family and church. He was preceded in death by two sons David B. Magruder died in 1970; and Michael K. Magruder died in 1983.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years Mary Tichenor Magruder. A daughter-in-law Bonnie Magruder of Eau Clare, Wisconsin. Two grandsons Keith Magruder of Clearwater, Florida, and Kevin Magruder of Eau Clare. Three great grandsons Chase Magruder, Tanner Magruder, and Cade Magruder all of Eau Clare. And a brother Maurice Magruder of Owensboro.
Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Glenville Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Glenville Baptist cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and from 9:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. The body will lie in state after 1:00 P.M. Friday at the church. Hellen Thomas Boyken 81, of Livermore, Kentucky. Died Friday October 18, 2002 at the Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun. She was born in Livermore, was a homemaker, and had earlier worked in Dr. Strange’s Office in Calhoun. She was a member of the Livermore United Methodist Church, was an avid seamstress, and enjoyed Lay Mission Work.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years J. David Boyken. A son Hubert Boyken of Livermore. Two daughters Jayne Ross of Hodgenville, and Jenny Ray of Oklahoma. 12 grandchildren. 26 great grandchildren. And two brothers Hubert Thomas of Leitchfield, and Phillip Thomas of Madisonville.
Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Livermore United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery in Livermore. Visitation is from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Raymond Ford “Toad” Gray 80, Died Saturday September 14, 2002 at his home in Livermore. He was born in McLean County, and was a member of the Livermore United Methodist Church. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, a 50 year member of the Livermore Masonic Lodge # 186 F. & A. M., and a 54 year member of Local #181 Operating Engineers. He formerly served as an officer with the former Kentucky Highway Patrol, and as an officer with the Kentucky State Police. He was elected McLean County Sheriff and also served as a Deputy Sheriff, McLean County Constable, and was currently on the Livermore City Council. He was preceded in death by a son, Greg Gray died September 21, 1982 and a granddaughter, Cindy Kirtley died July 8, 2002.
Survivors include his longtime companion Sandy Evans of Livermore. Three sons Doug Kirtley of Island, Dennis Kirtley of Central City, and Keith Gray of Thonotosassa, Florida. A Daughter Rose Anne Moore of Central City. 14 Grandchildren. 12 Great-Grandchildren. Several nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery in Livermore. Visitation is from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Lester Amel Dame 79, of Butte, Montana; formerly of Calhoun, Kentucky. Died Saturday, February 1, 2003 at the St. James Community Hospital in Butte, Montana. He was born in Calhoun, was a graduate of the Calhoun High School, had retried as a Staff Sergeant from the U.S. Army serving in the European Theaters during World War II, and was a member of the Protestant Faith. He was the owner / operator of Jet Car Wash in Butte, and was a member of the United Commercial Travelers, a member of the 15-90 Search and Rescue, and was a member of the Butte Amateur Radio Club. His wife, Kathleen Merrett Dame died in 1995.
Survivors include a sister Vernie Oretha Willis of Island. 2 nieces and 7 nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday February 6, 2003 in Butte, Montana. Burial with full military honors was in the Mount Moriah cemetery in Butte. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is in charge of local funeral arrangements. Jordan Keith Howard, Sr 46, of Livermore, Kentucky. Died Wednesday February 12, 2003 at his home in Livermore. He was born in Owensboro, was a sales associate with Lowe’s of Owensboro, and was a member of the Livermore Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, University of Kentucky Basketball, NASCAR, and was a 1974 Graduate of McLean County High School.
Survivors include his wife Patricia Howard. A son Jordan Howard, Jr of Hawesville. Three daughters Christie Robinson of Owensboro, Jennifer Howard of Lewisport, and Kelsey Howard at home. 2 grandchildren. A brother Hubert Howard of Lewisport. And a sister Jeanie Vincent of Phoenix, Arizona.

Stiles A. “Rip” Miller 79, of Calhoun, Kentucky; formerly of Sebring, Florida. Died Tuesday February 11, 2003 at Britthaven of Bowling Green. He was born in Rumsey, retired as a Major from the U.S. Air Force, and was a farmer. During World War II, he served as B-17 Pilot serving in the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe Campaigns. He also served as a pilot for the Strategic Air Command during the Cold War, and was an active member of the 91st SRW Association. He was a graduate of Calhoun High School, and Western Kentucky University, and enjoyed spending the winter months in Sebring, Florida. His wife of 49 years, Margaret Werne Miller died May 18, 2000.
Survivors include a son Stiles A. Miller, Jr of Owensboro. Two daughters Martha Miller-Webb of Bowling Green, and Donna Cox of Calhoun. 2 grandchildren. Two brothers Walter E. “Junior” Miller, Jr of Slaughters, and Delmon Miller of Calhoun. And five sisters Dot Curry, Vonda Walker both of Calhoun, Doris Cook of Newark, Ohio, Jean Puckett of Madisonville, and Nelda Hills of Lexington.

Lindel O. Sartain 72, of Livermore, Kentucky. Died Wednesday February 5, 2003 at his home in Livermore. He was born in McLean County, was the former owner and operator of Geno’s Pizza in Livermore, and was a member of the Baptist Faith. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, was a member of the Livermore Lion’s Club, and a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He enjoyed his grandchildren, Chicago Cubs Baseball, and University of Kentucky Basketball and Football. He also enjoyed watching and feeding the birds.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years Dalsie Bishop Sartain. A daughter Vickie Humphrey of Livermore. Two step daughters Tresia Withers of Buttonsberry, and Debra Mencer of Paducah. 2 grandsons. 7 step grandchildren. 10 step great grandchildren. Two brothers Gary Sartain of Livermore and Hubert Sartain of Scottsville. Two sisters Rita Phillips and Janice Sartain both of Central City. Several nieces and nephews.

Paul R. “Jack” Cochran 65, of Calhoun, Kentucky. Died Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at the Owensboro Mercy Health Systems in Owensboro. He was born in Owensboro, retired from the United States Air Force, and later retired from Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun as Maintenance Supervisor. He was a member of the Neals Chapel General Baptist Church in Bremen, was an avid antique collector, and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Kathy Cochran. Three sons Randy Cochran of Evansville, Bruce Cochran of Louisville, and Shawn Rickard of Bremen. Four daughters Penny Lee Smith of Boonville, Indiana, Cindy Lee Cochran of Lanesville, Indiana, Bonnie Lee Scatterday of Rockport, Massachusetts, and Diana Winkler of Rockport, Indiana. 17 grandchildren. 10 great grandchildren. His parents Rev. W.T. & Iona Cochran of Hillsdale, Michigan. Three brothers Travis Cochran of Anchorage, Kentucky, Rev. Bruce Cochran of Seymour, Indiana, and Dr. Brent Cochran of Newburgh, Indiana. Two sisters Pat Marshall of Athens, Georgia, and Dottie Branson of Hillsdale. Several nieces and nephews.
