Artie Powell Jordan 99, of Calhoun, Kentucky. Died Friday March 14, 2003 at the Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun. She was born in Panther, was a homemaker, and a member of the Pleasant Hope General Baptist Church in McLean County. She enjoyed crocheting, tatting, and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Estil “Pete” Jordan died September 11, 1979.
Survivors include a son Powell Jordan of Warner Robins, Georgia. 2 grandchildren. And a great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Calhoun cemetery. Visitation is from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Sunday at the funeral home. Thomas Andrew Ellis 96, of Calhoun, Kentucky. Died Tuesday October 1, 2002 at the Hermitage Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. He was born in McLean County, was a retired farmer, and a member of the Poplar Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McLean County. He was a member of the Sacramento Lodge # 735 F. & A.M. and also enjoyed gardening and fishing. His wife of 71 years, Elsie Lindsey Ellis died December 26, 1999; and a daughter, Wanda Ellis Haynes died June 18, 1999.
Survivors include a daughter Gilda Ellis Mitchell of Owensboro. Three grandchildren Valerie Haynes of Calhoun, Dan Ellis Mitchell of Franklin, Tennessee, and Jan Mitchell Sims of Owensboro. And 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 11:00 A.M. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Calhoun cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and from 8:00 A.M. until time of services Friday at the funeral home. Bodo M. Lloyd 96, of Calhoun, Kentucky. Died Saturday September 28, 2002 at the Owensboro Mercy Health Systems in Owensboro. He was born in McLean County, was a retired farmer, and a member of the Pentecostal Faith. He enjoyed gardening, his family, and attending church. His wife, Dorothy Henneman Lloyd died March 22, 1982.
Survivors include a son Gene M. Lloyd of Evansville. Three daughters Louise Lloyd of Calhoun, June Hayden of Owensboro, and Edith Culbertson of Curby, Indiana. 13 grandchildren. 22 great grandchildren. And 3 great great grandchildren.

Thomas Dewayne Sterling 49, of Livermore, Kentucky. Died Sunday October 6, 2002 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born in Owensboro, graduated from Huntingburg High School in Indiana, and was a paint foreman with A & S Fabricating of Livermore. He was a member of the Buck Creek Baptist Church, was a member of several automobile Enthusiasts Associations and enjoyed restoring classic automobiles. He also enjoyed displaying and attending the many classic automobile shows. He was preceded in death by his father, Barney Sterling died December 30, 1996.
Survivors include his wife Patricia “Patty” Gish Sterling. Two sons Jason C. Burden of Owensboro, and Scott Thomas Sterling at home. His mother Margaret Sterling of Helena, Mississippi. Two brothers Don Sterling, and Robert Sterling both of Helena. A sister Darlene Sterling of Helena. And several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in the Glenville Christian cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation is from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Joseph W. “Jodie” Greenwalt 93, of Livermore, Kentucky. Died Tuesday October 15, 2002 at the Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun. He was born in McLean County, was the owner and operator of Joe’s DX Service Station in Livermore from 1949 to 1965 and retired as the service station manager for the Super Test Oil Company. He was a member of the Livermore Missionary Baptist Church where he had also served as the church custodian for several years. He also enjoyed boxing, and exercising. He was preceded in death by two grandsons Randy Yonts died in January of 1998; and Sandy Yonts died in March of 1985.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years Thelma Hatfield Greenwalt. Two sons E.W. Greenwalt of Greenville, and J.R. Greenwalt of Owensboro. Two daughters Greta Yonts of Louisville, and Nelda Griffith of South Carrollton. 10 grandchildren. 21 great grandchildren. And 7 great grandchildren.

Martine Elizabeth Reid Tucker 85, of Owensboro; formerly of the Buck Creek Area in McLean County. Died Tuesday September 3, 2002 at the Owensboro Mercy Health Systems in Owensboro. She was born in McLean County, was a homemaker, and had earlier worked at both the Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun and the Livermore School. She had been a member of the Buck Creek Baptist Church in McLean County for more than 70 years, where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher, a Church Pianist, and was a Vacation Bible School Teacher for several years. She also enjoyed flowers, quilting, and was member of the Woodmen of the World. Her husband, Roger H. Tucker died May 4, 1980.
Survivors include two sons Norman L. Tucker, and Royce E. Tucker both of Livia. Five grandchildren Stephen Tucker, Lori Sheppard both of Livia, Dr. Michele Tucker of West Palm Beach, Florida, Aaron Tucker, and Jason Tucker both of Livia. 3 great grandchildren. A brother Dr. Robert L. Reid of Owensboro. And several nieces and nephews.

Jerry A. Sinnett 43, of Sacramento, Kentucky. Died Tuesday September 10, 2002 at his home in Sacramento. He was born in Daviess County, had earlier worked as both a farmer and in the oil fields, and was a member of the Nickel Ridge Holiness Church in Panther. He enjoyed fishing, collecting knives, and his family.
Survivors include his wife Rosa Parker Sinnett. A daughter Oleta Marie Sinnett at home. Two brothers Willie Wilson of Owensboro, and James E. Sinnett of West Louisville. Three sisters Joyce Sinnett, Carolyn Sinnett Abney both of Panther, and Janice Sinnett of West Louisville. Several nieces and nephews.

Caroline Sue Tomes 60, of Norman, Oklahoma. Died Wednesday September 18, 2002 at the Integris Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born January 19, 1942 in Albany, Georgia and was named Caroline Sue Hall. Her parents were Ernest Murray Hall, Sr and Sarah Madeline Ranew Hall. Caroline graduated from Albany High School in Albany, Georgia. In 1954, at age 12, Caroline became a Christian and a member of the Church of Christ. At age 19 she met William Richard Tomes, Sr and on September 8, 1962 they were married
. Due to Bill’s military career, they made their residences in Albany, Camp Lajune, North Carolina, and Kittery, Maine and finally in Norman, Oklahoma where she has been a resident since 1973. Caroline has been a faithful member of the Westside Church of Christ where she was involved in the women’s program as well as visitation.
Caroline is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, William “Bill” Richard Tomes, Sr. A son William Richard Tomes, Jr and wife, Julie of New Jersey. A daughter Robin Sue Dutton and husband, Dr. Allen Dutton, Jr of Campinas, Brazil. Two grandsons Daniel Paul Tomes of Norman, and Tyler Allen Dutton of Brazil. Two granddaughters Sarah Ruth Tomes of Norman, and Laura Lynn Dutton of Brazil. And a brother Ernest Murray Hall, Jr and wife, Francene of Athens, Georgia.
Graveside services are 3:30 P.M. Thursday at the Calhoun cemetery. Visitation is from 1:00 P.M. until 3:15 P.M. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel.

Ruby Nell Brackin Masterson Brown 69, of Burlew Boulevard; Owensboro, Kentucky. Died Sunday September 22, 2002 at her home in Owensboro. She was born in Muhlenberg County, was a homemaker, and had earlier worked as a private nurse’s assistant. She was a member of the Pentecostal Faith, and a member of the American Legion Owensboro Post #0009. She enjoyed bluegrass and country music, and spending time with her family. Her husband, Douglas Masterson, Sr died January 18, 1965.
Survivors include three sons Douglas E. Masterson, Jr of Island, Joseph Wayne Masterson of Panama City, Florida, and John Michael Masterson of Livia. A daughter Rebecca Smith of Owensboro. 18 grandchildren. 22 great grandchildren. Two brothers Marvin Brackin of Florida, and Curtis Morris of Sacramento. And a sister Louise Johnson of Buttonsberry.

Elsie Atherton Owen 91, of Livia, Kentucky. Died Sunday September 1, 2002 at her home in Livia. She was born in Echols and had retired after 20 years of service from the General Electric Corporation of Owensboro in 1966. She was a member of the Pleasant Hope General Baptist Church in McLean County and had volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center in Livermore for several years. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Forest Atherton, A.C. “Reet” King, Clint Shelton, and Gene Owen. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ronald L. Atherton.
Survivors include a son Oren L. Atherton of Livia. A daughter Mildred R. Atherton of Livia. Five granddaughters LeDonna Rae, Elsie Cambron both of Livia, Rebecca Wilson of Mary Esther, Florida, Kathi Coyle of Owensboro, and Ruthie Fry of Charleston, South Carolina. 11 great grandchildren. And 5 great great grandchildren.
