James Richard Greenwell

James Richard Greenwell, 73, of 1618 Alderson Court, Owensboro, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Morganfield native retired from Texas Gas as treasurer after 35 years and was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and former member of the Sarah Club. He graduated from Notre Dame University, supported Brescia University and enjoyed tennis, cards and charitable activities. His wife, Mary Ruth Greenwell, died May 27, 1985.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Greenwell of Warrenville, Ill., and David Greenwell of Seoul, South Korea; three grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Coblin of Frankfort and Dorothy Lindle of Sturgis; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Hayley Lee Bethel

GREENVILLE -- Hayley Lee Bethel, infant daughter of Jamie Lee Bethel of Greenville, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Other survivors include her grandmother, Shirley Hoeffler of Greenville; two uncles; and an aunt.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Graham cemetery in Graham. There is no visitation. Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.
Ruby C. Wade Thompson Miller

FORDSVILLE -- Ruby C. Wade Thompson Miller, 84, of Fordsville died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Ohio County native was a Protestant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bonnie C. Miller; three sons, Bert C. Thompson Jr., William Thompson and Patrick Thompson; and a daughter, Bonnie Roseanne Waters.
Survivors include 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Vic Wade of Philpot, Ralph Wade of Oakwood, Ill., Wayne Wade of Owensboro and Alfred Wade of Louisville; a sister, Anne Lott of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.
Graveside services are at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Ralph cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Lung Association.

GARY, Ind. -- Theodore Rorer, 83, of Gary died there Friday, Oct. 12, 2001. The Owensboro native retired from Inland Steel as a stationary fireman, attended Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Golda L. Rorer; a daughter, Shirley Duran of Gary, Ind.; three grandchildren; three brothers, Casper Rorer of Texas, John Livers of DeMotte, Ind., and Edward Livers of Missouri; and a sister, Ina Bartlett of Owensboro.
Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

CROMWELL -- Mary Charlene Cardwell, 86, of Cromwell died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. The Butler County native was a housewife and a member of Fairview Church of Christ in Butler County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Ray Cardwell, on Oct. 7, 1965; and a son, Ricky Cardwell, on June 6, 1968.
Survivors include nine sons, Odis Cardwell, James Cardwell, both of McDaniels, Alfa Cardwell of Louisville, Everett Cardwell of Elizabethtown, Glendon Cardwell and Eulon Cardwell, both of Cromwell, Kennith Cardwell of Poseyville, Ind., Roger Cardwell and Clarence Cardwell, both of Morgantown; two daughters, Betty Blacklock of Cromwell and Mary Lou Lindsey of Morgantown; 39 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Glen Phelps of Elizabethtown; and two sisters, Lavern Embry of Caneyville and Eunice "Bill" Phelps of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Butler-Phelps cemetery in Butler County. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Paul Joseph Kuegel

CHICAGO -- Paul Joseph Kuegel, 70, of Chicago died there Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Westside Veterans Administration Medical Center. The Daviess County native retired from sales at Office Automation Inc. and was former owner of Midwest Cado Computer Co. in Chicago. He graduated from Chicago Technical College and was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his companion, Barbara Jurka of Chicago; a daughter, Michelle Kuegel of Chicago; four brothers, Martin Kuegel and David Kuegel, both of Owensboro, Mike Kuegel of Browns Mill, N.J., and Bill Kuegel of Glen Burnie, Md.; six sisters, Ann Keelin, Sue Yannacone, Paula Al-Zubaidi and Helen O'Bryan, all of Owensboro, Theresa Rhodes of Utica and Mary Payne of Rockport, Ind.; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Brescia University chapel in Owensboro. Inurnment will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is after noon Sunday at the chapel. Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a favorite charity.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Melissa Phillips, 32, of Jacksonville died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001. The Owensboro native was a member of Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include her father of Eddie Phillips of Indiana; her mother and stepfather, Sue and Steve Malicoat of Jacksonville; a brother, Darren Phillips of Louisville; a sister, Jenny Phillips of Jacksonville; a stepbrother, Steve Malicoat; several nephews and nieces; and several cousins.
Memorial services are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach, Fla. The body was cremated.

TELL CITY, Ind. -- Evelyn L. Graham, 92, of Tell City died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Bon Harbor Nursing Home in Owensboro. The Mulhall, Okla., native was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Owensboro and enjoyed raising roses, square dancing, crafts, camping, ceramics and printing. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Oliver T. Turbyfill; her second husband, Claude W. Ennis; a son, Robert O. Turbyfill; and a daughter, Nell Claudette Caisse.
Survivors include her husband, George P. Graham of Owensboro; a daughter, Gail Hoesli of Tell City; a stepdaughter, Barbara Fasclo of Newton, N.J.; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, John Taylor of Houston; and a sister, Hazel Thomas of Dallas.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City chapel. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Bebee T. Reynolds, 97, of 1205 Leitchfield Road, Owensboro, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Leisure Years Nursing Home. The Hopkins County native was a member of Erlington Methodist Church. Her husband, Emerson A. Reynolds, died in 1983.
Survivors include a nephew; a niece; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.
Services are private. Private burial will be in Slaughters cemetery in Slaughters. There is no visitation. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.
Edith Rice Emerson

INDIANAPOLIS -- Edith Rice Emerson, 74, of Indianapolis, formerly of Fordsville, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis. The Ohio County native was a housewife and member of the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Emerson; a son, James Embry of St. Louis; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services are at 2 p.m. today at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville. Burial will be in Friendship Church of Christ cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Irene H. Polster

EVANSTON, Ind. -- Irene H. Polster, 73, of Evanston died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Perry County (Ind.) Memorial Hospital in Tell City, Ind. The Evanston native retired from General Electric in Tell City after 40 years of service. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Evanston and enjoyed singing in the church choir, quilting, vegetable gardening and flower gardening.
Survivors include a brother, Charles Polster of Evanston; five nephews; and five nieces.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery in Lamar, Ind. Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
