FORDSVILLE -- Jo Nell Leach, 67, of Fordsville died Friday, July 27, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Fordsville native retired after teaching school for 39 years. She was a member of Fordsville Baptist Church and a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College. She was preceded in death by her husband, Authur Gene Leach.
Survivors include a son, Phillip Grady Leach of Fordsville; and a granddaughter.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fordsville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Fordsville cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville.
Joan Bamberger

Joan Bamberger, 83, of 409 E. Third St., Owensboro, died there Wednesday, July 4, 2001. The Daviess County native was a secretary at OMU and was a member of SS. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include a brother, Arch Bamberger of Owensboro; and a sister, Helen Hazel of Owensboro.
Services are at 10 a.m. today at SS. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to SS. HENDERSON -- Marie C. Kruse, 96, of Henderson died there Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Methodist Hospital. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Henderson. Her husband, Alvin J. Kruse, died in 1975.
Survivors include two sons, Alvin J. Kruse of Hawesville and George Kruse of Van Nuys, Calif.; three daughters, Marian Kruse of Henderson, Evelyn Coleman of Brentwood, Mo., and JoAnne Ochsner of Evansville; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home in Henderson. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery in Henderson. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Trinity Lutheran Church.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Gladys N. Fowler Burge, 70, of Indianapolis died there Thursday, July 26, 2001. The Owensboro native worked at G C Murphy store in Glendale for 10 years and retired from Westlane Junior High School after three years.
Survivors include her husband, William F. Burge Jr.; three sons, William Leslie Burge, Carl Franklin Burge and James Wayne Burge; a daughter, Sandra Naoma Piltz; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Joe Fowler; and two sisters, Edna Muffet and Pauline Ambs.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Flanner & Buchanan Broad Ripple Mortuary in Indianapolis. Burial will be in Washington Park North. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

William A. Daniel Sr., 78, of 3126 Adams Court, Owensboro, died there Friday, July 6, 2001. The Owensboro native retired from Willamette Industries and was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge 143 in Madisonville and the Rizpah Shrine Temple.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Vernita Renfrow Daniel; a son, William Daniel Jr. of St. Louis; a daughter, Deborah Daniel Yates of Owensboro; two grandchildren; and a sister, Sue Daniel Maglinger of Owensboro.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. GREENVILLE -- Charles Elvin "C.E." Dukes, 95, of Greenville died Friday, July 6, 2001, at his home. The Muhlenberg County native was a member of North Main Church of Christ in Greenville, He was a retired coal miner, truck driver and farmer.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Dukes of Greenville and Perry Dukes of Powderly; a daughter, Judith Kay Smalling of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Carter Creek cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

HAWESVILLE -- Charles Earl McFall, 60, of Hawesville died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at his home. The Hancock County native retired from Tell City (Ind.) Chair after 33 years and was a member of Blackford Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Marlyn Sue Brandle McFall; two sons, William L. McFall and Wesley A. McFall, both of Hawesville; a daughter, Kathy Roach of Whitesville; and six grandchildren.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville. Burial will be in Memory Gardens in Hawesville. Visitation is after 3 p.m. Wednesday and until 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Veneta M. Ballis

TELL CITY, Ind. -- Veneta M. Ballis, 47, of Tell City died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at her home from cancer. The Tell City native was administrative secretary and chief matron of Perry County Sheriff's Department until she retired in March due to illness. She was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Tell City and enjoyed collecting teacups and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Oscar Ballis Jr.; a son, Kevin Clausen of Tell City; a daughter, Kelly Ingle of Troy, Ind.; two stepsons, Kevin Ballis of Tell City and John Ballis of San Diego; six stepdaughters, Melissa McManaway and Tammy Marshall, both of Tell City, Gwenn Sims of Covington, Bonnie Williams of Arkansas, Kim Haney of North Carolina and Jessica Sturgeon of Eckerty, Ind.; two grandchildren; 20 stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; her father, Paul Shrewsberry of Hardinsburg; four brothers, Darrell Russell of Doland Springs, Ariz., Kenneth Shrewsberry of Cloverport and Mark Shrewsberry and Allen Shrewsberry, both of Hardinsburg; four sisters, Gina Kellems of Tell City, Glenda Masterson of Rockport, Mary Ann Flamion of Jasper, Ind., and Karen Shrewsberry of Hardinsburg; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Cancer Society or Kosair Children's Hospital.

Mary Foreman Richards, 65, of Whitesville died Saturday. Oct. 13, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Ohio County native retired from Fordsville Nursing Home, was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church in Ohio County and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Harrol Richards; two sons, James Richards of Dundee and Larry Richards, at home; two daughters, Doris Sparks of Owensboro and Carolyn Decker of Dundee; four grandchildren; a brother, David Foreman of Reynolds Station; and a sister, Sadie Norris of Reynolds Station.
Services are at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville. Burial will be in Cates cemetery in Whitesville. Visitation is after 3 p.m. today and after noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Diabetes Association.

Andrea Dawn Stephen, 21, of 3720 Springmeadow Dr., Owensboro, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. The Louisville native was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She was a senior at UK and was on the dean's list. She was a 1998 graduate of Daviess County High School and was in the marching band. Her father, Spencer Edward Stephen, died in 1997.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Karen and Larry Polard of Owensboro; her paternal grandmother, Lorena Stephen of Owensboro; her maternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, John and Emily Newman of Eddyville; her maternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Dorothy and William Cates of Owensboro; a stepgrandmother, Shirley Polard of Palmyra, Mo.; a brother, Corey Stephen of Louisville; and a sister, Kristi McCabe of Louisville.
Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bellevue Baptist Church in Owensboro. Entombment will be in Resurrection cemetery in Philpot. BROWDER -- Harold Ray Vick, 65, of Browder died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Muhlenberg County native was a coal miner and member of Browder General Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Aline Douglas Vick; two sons, Ray Vick of Greenbrier, Tenn., and Chuck Vick of Smyrna, Tenn.; two daughters, Susie Phelps and Sandy Drake, both of Browder; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild; his mother, Susie Vick of Browder; and a brother, Darris Vick of Okeechobee, Fla.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home in Beechmont. Burial will be in Union Ridge cemetery in Belton. Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

MORGANTOWN -- Bertha Mae Evans Howard, 82, of Beaver Dam died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at her home. The Butler County native was a homemaker and member of Slaty Creek Baptist Church and Rosine Association.
Survivors include her husband, Eldon Dean Howard; three sons, Glenn Pirtle and Kenneth Pirtle, both of Columbus, Ohio, and Gary Pirtle of Montpelier, Ohio; a daughter, Sandra Waechter of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Chapel in Morgantown. Burial will be in Green River cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
