Edward Freeman Gish

CENTRAL CITY -- Edward Freeman Gish, 78, of Central City died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Muhlenberg County native retired from Humphrey Gish Service Station and was deacon at Cherry Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of Central City Masonic Lodge 673 and a World War II veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife.
Survivors include a son, Eddie Gish of Central City; a daughter, Ruth Ann Gossett of Central City; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Don F. Gish of Bremen; and two sisters, Audrey Duncan of Morgantown and Martha Oliver of Scottsville.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cherry Hill Baptist Church in Central City. Burial will be in Cherry Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. The body will lie in state after noon Saturday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Cherry Hill Baptist Church cemetery Fund.
Kenneth M. Higgs

SOCORDO, N.M. -- Kenneth M. Higgs, 60, of Socordo, formerly of Rumsey, died Monday, June 18, 2001, in Albuquerque, N.M. He retired from the Army after 23 1/2 years of service and had served in Germany, Korea and Vietnam.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Chavez; two granddaughters; and a sister, Barbara McGehee of Rumsey.
Services were June 25 at Stealman-Hall Funeral Home in Socordo. Burial was in Arlington National cemetery in Washington, D.C. Muster Funeral Homes is handling local arrangements.
Pat Howe

Pat Howe, 26, of 5014 Sturbridge Place, Owensboro, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System from injuries suffered in a traffic accident. The Owensboro native last worked as a teacher at South Todd Elementary School. He enjoyed playing darts, bowling, trivia games and spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include his fiancee, Trish Carmon of Whitesville; his father, Bill Howe of Owensboro; his mother, Carolyn Howe of Hawesville; and his grandparents, Dunward and Hazel Howe of Tell City, Ind., and Effie Beard of Owensboro.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Lewisport cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. today and after noon Sunday at the funeral home.
Argatha A. Jackson

LOUISVILLE -- Argatha A. Jackson, 77, of Louisville, formerly of Owensboro, died there Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Baptist Hospital East. The Guthrie native retired as owner/operator of Tots & Cuddler's Day Care Center and was a member of First Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She was a founder of Cedar Street Missionary Baptist Church, a former member of Pleasant Ridge Homemakers Club and enjoyed quilting, gardening and spending time with family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hardin Sydney, on Dec. 8, 1988; and a daughter, Hazel A. West, on Nov. 26, 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Sidney T. Jackson and Michael L. Jackson, both of Owensboro; two daughters, Atha Carter and Hettie Cole, both of Louisville; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dova Tinsley of Owensboro and Irene Kendall of Evansville.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Street Missionary Baptist Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Pleasant Point Baptist Church cemetery in Pleasant Ridge. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. McFarland Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Diabetes Association.
Harold 'Jay' Lee Jr.

Harold "Jay" Lee Jr., 29, of Owensboro died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. The Chicago native was a Baptist and graduated from Owensboro High School. He enjoyed NASCAR and racing in the Cruiser Division at Kentucky Motor Speedway and was a Dale Earnhardt fan.
Survivors include his companion, Tina Clark; two sons, Jay Daniel Lee and Jared Lee, both of Owensboro; two daughters, Chelsea Clark and Savanna Lee, both of Owensboro; his father and stepmother, Harold G. Sr. and Jane Lee of Owensboro; his mother and stepfather, Gale and Waiter West of Hopkinsville; his grandmother, Nell Ray Lee of Greenville; two sisters, Tina Tallman of Owensboro and Lisa Montes of Fayetteville, Ark.; two stepbrothers, Kevin Calloway of Owensboro and Corey West of Hopkinsville; five stepsisters, Michelle Vincent of Owensboro, and Cynthia West, Tiffany West, Tanya West and Leslee West, all of Hopkinsville; several nephews and nieces; and several uncles and aunts.
Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
John Peter Moeller

GRAHAM -- John Peter Moeller, 95, of Graham died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville after a lengthy illness. The Elmshorn, Germany, native was a member and former deacon of First Presbyterian Church in Greenville. He was a member of Pond River Lodge 244 F&AM and Madeline Chapter 63. He was a World War II Army veteran and a retired laborer from Tennessee Valley Authority. His wife, Elizabeth Coombs Moeller, died in 1997.
Survivors include a son, Richard Moeller of Graham; five nephews; three nieces; a great-nephew; and a great-niece.
Memorial services are at 3 p.m. Monday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Greenville. Visitation is after 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be conferred by Pond River Masonic Lodge 244 F&AM at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

BEAVER DAM -- Elizabeth Mae Kessinger, 83, of Beaver Dam died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Ohio County native was a housewife and member of Independence Baptist Church near McHenry. She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Kessinger.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Kessinger; two sons, Robert Kessinger of Robards and Orville Kessinger of Eau Clair, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Stone of Beaver Dam; and four sisters, Lova Moseley of Beaver Dam, Rubena Moseley of McHenry and Tressie Edwards and Margaret Leisure, both of Ashland, Ohio.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Render Memorial cemetery in McHenry. Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

RUSSELLVILLE -- Phillip Jordan Sorrels, 11, of Russellville died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at his home. He was born in Nashville.
Survivors include his parents, Tina Markham of Russellville and Russell Markham of Dunmor; his grandparents, Billy Garner of Central City, Linda Garner of Russellville, David and Susan Hendricks of Madisonville, Sue Markham of Dunmor, and Floyd and Lillian Sorrels of Belton; his great-grandparents, Homer and Nell Stewart of Bremen; a sister, Whitney Markham of Russellville; several uncles and aunts; and several cousins.
Services are at 1 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Dunmor cemetery.

Dakota Wyatt Mills, infant son of Tim and Theresa Mills of 630 Chuck Gray Court, Apt. 1, Owensboro, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was a Daviess County native.
Survivors include his grandparents, Neal and Faye Vanover of Owensboro; great-grandmothers, Helen Vanover and Catherine Galloway, both of Owensboro; three sisters, Megan Cox, Taylor Cox and Emily Mills, all at home; an uncle; five aunts; and several cousins.
Services are at noon Saturday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro chapel. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

FORDSVILLE -- George Harrison Wilson, 51, of Fordsville, formerly of Walnut Ridge, Ark., died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Walnut Ridge, Ark., native worked for Huffman River Boat Co. and was a roofer.
Survivors include a companion, Pearly Taylor; two sons, Danny Wilson and Benton Wilson, both of Hoxie, Ark.; a daughter, Kerry Wilson of Bono, Ark.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Don Wilson of Minturn, Ark., and Joe Wilson of Maynard, Ark.; two sisters, Anna Lou Schade of Owensboro and Clara Jean Wantland of Fort Smith, Ark; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville. Burial will be in Macedonia cemetery in Breckinridge County. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mary 'Kat' Crable Wolfe

CALHOUN -- Mary "Kat" Crable Wolfe, 79, of Calhoun died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Louisville native was a homemaker and Baptist. She enjoyed Western movies, bingo, reading and time with family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Wolfe, on Jan. 27, 1962; and two sons, Lawrence Wolfe Jr., in 1944 and Howard Lee Wolfe, in 1946.
Survivors include five sons, William Wolfe of Upton, Steven Wolfe Sr., of Fairdale, Herbert Wolfe Sr., of Ashbyburg, David Wolfe Sr., of Randleman, N.C., and Richard Wolfe Sr., of Calhoun; four daughters, Kitty Krigbaum of Elizabeth, Ind., Ige Wilson and Tana Dant, both of Calhoun, and Connie Lindsey of Sebree; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services are at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be Monday in Evergreen cemetery in Louisville. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Elizabeth Inez Hagan

CENTRAL CITY -- Elizabeth Inez Hagan, 73, of Central City died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. The Muhlenberg County native retired from Kentucky Utilities Green River Power Plant as office supervisor and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She had been an organist at the church and was a member of Central City Aeolian Music Club. She was a Kentucky Colonel and volunteered at St. Joseph Food Pantry.
Survivors include two brothers, Silas Miles Hagan Jr. of Wasilla, Alaska, and Joseph Leo Hagan of Miami; and four sisters, Mary Belle Hagan Gossett and Cecelia Gwendolyn Hagan, both of Central City, Norma Hagan Harris of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Ramona Hagan Smith of Corbin.
Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Central City. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery in Central City. Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Central City; St. Joseph Food Pantry; Mount St. Joseph Ursuline Nuns, Maple Mount; or American Cancer Society.
