LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. -- Mary Letitia Lewis Baker, 93, of Libertyville, formerly of Owensboro, died March 15, 2001, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Libertyville. The Chicago native was a Methodist. Her husband, Everett Joy Baker, died in 1977.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Donald L. Baker of Loves Park, Ill., and John R. Baker of Las Vegas; a daughter, Sally Keller of Mundelein, Ill.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Alzheimer's Association, 950-B Kenmore Drive, Evansville, IN 47714.
Margaret Louise Allen

EVANSVILLE -- Margaret Louise Allen, 81, of Evansville, formerly of Hawesville, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at her home. The Hancock County native retired from ASCS Office as a planimeter operator and was a member of Hawesville Methodist Church. She was an associate member of Simpson United Methodist Church in Evansville and member of United Methodist Women. Her husband, Stanley M. Allen, died in 1985.
Survivors include a son, Terry Allen of Owensboro; a daughter, Donna Blackford of Evansville; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 8 a.m. Monday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the United Methodist Church.

BEAVER DAM -- Luster Barrett, 67, of Beaver Dam died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Clay County native retired from General Motors as a line inspector, was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Beaver Dam and Right to Life and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. His wife, Juanita Barrett, died March 16, 1999.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna English of Dunedin, Fla., and Yvonne Bach of Beaver Dam; a grandchild; a stepgrandchild; two brothers, Jessie Barrett of Cincinnati, and Pleaz Barrett of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Oma Taylor of Manchester and Alta Tolliver of Norwood, Ohio.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation is from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam is in charge of arrangements.

OLMSTEAD -- Zada Miller Starks, 86, of Olmstead died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Auburn Nursing Center. The Logan County native was a homemaker and member of Bethany Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Starks; and two daughters, Dorothy Nesmith and Sue Ellen Starks.
Survivors include a son, Jimmy Sparks of Olmstead; two daughters, Carolyn Fenwick and Nancy Ruth Kelly, both of Owensboro; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Frances Hammel of Flynt, Mich.
Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Maple Grove cemetery in Russellville. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sanders Funeral Home in Russellville.

HARDINSBURG -- Richard A. Whitfill, 63, of Hardinsburg died Saturday, May 6, 2001, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield. The Breckinridge County native was a self-employed farmer and member of St. Romuald Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Whitfill; eight sons, Ricky Whitfill, Eddie Whitfill, Carroll Whitfill, Dan Whitfill, Ben Whitfill and Mike Whitfill, all of Hardinsburg, David Whitfill of Hudson and Francis Whitfill of Kingswood; six daughters, Lyvenia Anthony, Lesia Whitfill and Gail Hinton, all of Hardinsburg, Sharon Taylor of Leitchfield, Polly Snyder of Hawesville, and Jacinta Paris of Jacinta, Ind.; 47 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe Whitfill and Guy Whitfill, both of Hardinsburg, and Lonnie Whitfill of Louisville; and six sisters, Tillie Bickett of Louisville, Emily Bland of Cloverport, Margaret Matthews, Marry E. Tanner and Jean Powers, all of Hardinsburg, and Ruth Hazelwood of Guston.
Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Romuald Catholic Church in Hardinsburg. Burial will be in St. Romuald cemetery in Hardinsburg. CUSTER -- Bessie Nix Butler, 94, of Custer died Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at her home. The Breckinridge County native was a housewife and a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Nix and Husa Butler; a son, Wendell Nix; and a daughter, Ruby Kennedy.
Survivors include a son, Kenny Nix of Irvington; three daughters, Dorothy Drane of Harned, Hannah Morgan of Irvington and Carolyn Nix of Custer; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial will be in Locust Hill cemetery in Harned. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Charles H. Jackson, 72, of 4032 Carpenter Drive, Owensboro, died there Thursday, May 10, 2001. The Crittenden County native retired as an electrical engineer from Patton Scaffolding Co. in Chicago after 30 years and attended Harvest Baptist Temple. He was a member of Kelvyn Park-Willing Masonic Lodge 1074 in Chicago and enjoyed bingo, woodworking, gardening and his friends.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Wanda Jackson; two sons, William Gerald Jackson of Franklin Park, Ill., and Charles Keith Jackson of Owensboro; a daughter, Karen Gail Miller of Whithouse, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, John Jackson of Nisswa, Minn.; and two sisters, Helen Damron of Evansville and Nell Lowery of Indianapolis.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Entombment will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Maria Maki, 91, of 2238 Ponder Place, Owensboro, died there Thursday, May 10, 2001. The Karvia, Finland, native was a Lutheran. Her husband, Toivo Maki, died in 1987.
Survivors include a daughter, Miriam Sliger of Owensboro; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a nephew; and a niece.
Graveside services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in McCool cemetery in Portage, Ind. There is no visitation. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. RICHLAND, Ind. -- Henry L. Christensen, 78, of Richland died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at his home from congestive heart failure. The Gary, Minn., native was a foreman for Denton Construction Co. in Warren, Mich., for 41 years and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Wilma Christensen; a son, Ron Christensen of Loveland, Colo.; a daughter, Linda Krantz of Hatfield, Ind.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Obert Christensen of Hudson, Ind.; and two sisters, Vivian Christensen of Cynthiana, Ind., and Helen Swenson of Sterling Heights, Mich.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind. Burial will be in James Parker cemetery in Hatfield, Ind. GREENVILLE -- Edith Mae Cook, 82, of Greenville, formerly of Owensboro, died Friday, May 4, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Green County native was a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Lee James, in 1945; and her second husband, J. B. Cook, in 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Robert B. James of Philpot and James M. Adwell of Owensboro; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clyde Sharp of Owensboro and Wayne Sharp of La Grange; and three sisters, Phyllis Aull and Emma Vowells, both of Owensboro, and Nora Ferrell of Galion, Ohio.
Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Glasgow Municipal cemetery in Glasgow. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro.
Laurence Kern 'Larry' Meyer

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Laurence Kern "Larry" Meyer, 68, of Elizabethtown died there Thursday, May 10, 2001. The Grand Rapids, Mich., native was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. James Catholic Church. He published the Penny Saver from 1966 to 1997 and enjoyed University of Kentucky athletics. His wife, Jane Meyer, died Aug. 16, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Meyer of Owensboro and Stuart Meyer of Chicago; three daughters, Ann Meyer of Chicago, Laura Fleming of Fort Worth, Texas, and Lisa Platt of Louisville; five grandchildren; two brothers, and David Meyer of Louisville and Paul Stuart Meyer of Rochester, Mich.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown. Burial will be in St. James cemetery in Elizabethtown. Visitation is from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
