SACRAMENTO -- Amelia Kay Coffman, 5, of Sacramento died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Muhlenberg County native was a member of Tabernacle Church of God.
Survivors include her parents, Nicky and Lisa Coffman of Sacramento; grandparents, Bobby and Phyllis Noffsinger of Bremen, Richard and Karolette Elliott of Sacramento and Terry McDonald of Greenville; two sisters, Kayla M. Coffman and Kristal Coffman, both of Sacramento; and several uncles and aunts.
Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Corley's Chapel cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Christine Dowell

Christine Dowell, 88, of Lewsiport died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Leisure Years Nursing Home in Owensboro. The Lewisport native had worked as a nursing assistant, was a homemaker and a member of St. Columba Catholic Church in Lewisport.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, William K. Dowell; a son, William L. Dowell of Lewisport; a grandchild; a stepgrandchild; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucretia Hurst of Owensboro.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport. Burial will be in Lewisport cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
James Gordon Haynes

WHITING, Ind. -- James Gordon Haynes, 65, of Whiting died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at his home of cancer. The Fordsville native worked at LTV Steel for 44 years, was an Army veteran and enjoyed travel, camping, gardening, birding, environmental and civil liberties issues, music from all decades and cats. He was a member of United Steelworkers of America Local 1011 and many environmental and civil liberties organizations.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Charlotte Hall Haynes; a sister, Bettye Smith of Hartford; several nephews and nieces; several uncles, an aunt, and several cousins.
There are no services or visitation. The body was cremated. Baran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Cancer Society, Hospice of Calumet Region, Fried's Cat Shelter, Grand Calumet Task Force, Calumet Chapter of the Indiana Civil Liberties Union or a favorite charity.

ROCKPORT, Ind. -- Amel Scales, 89, of Rockport died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. The Richland, Ind., native was a real estate broker, member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Rockport, Eureka Masonic Lodge in Eureka, Ind., Hadi Shrine in Evansville and Scottish Rite in Evansville. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans , a member of Ironmen of Metz and a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Betty Cotton Scales; a son, William Barney Scales of Owensboro; a stepson, Jim Boyd of Decatur, Ala.; two stepdaughters, Jeri Ann Capezza of Apelousas, La., and Peggy Coomer of Rockport, Ind.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a half brother, Donald Scales of Boonville, Ind.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind. Burial will be in Mount Zion cemetery in Richland, Ind. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 254. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Trinity United Methodist Church, Rockport, Ind.

HERNANDO, Miss. -- Brenda J. Lambert Skaggs, 50, of Hernando died Friday, May 4, 2001, from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident. She was a Daviess County native.
Survivors include her husband Frank Skaggs; a son, Glenn Davis of Florida; a daughter, Dana Inman of Memphis, Tenn.; two granddaughters; her mother, Lillian Lambert of Philpot; four brothers, David Lambert and Terry Lambert, both of Philpot, and Clay Lambert and Jimmy Lambert, both of Whitesville; a sister, Clara Shreve of Hopkinsville; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hernando Funeral Home in Hernando. Burial will be in Hernando. Visitation is after 5:30 Wednesday and before 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Polly Revlett

ISLAND -- Polly Revlett, 84, of Island died there Saturday, May 12, 2001. The McLean County native was a homemaker and had worked as a nurse's aid at the former McLean County General Hospital in Calhoun for more than 15 years. She was a Baptist and enjoyed word puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucian V. Revlett, on Feb. 14, 1998; and a son, Charles Revlett.
Survivors include four sons, Jackie Ray Revlett of Livermore, James V. Revlett, John L. Revlett and Lindel S. Revlett, all of Island; two daughters, Jetta V. Daniel and Nancy Payne, both of Island; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, John James of Hartford; and three sisters, Ollie Howard, Rosie Nell Devine and Irene Curby, all of Owensboro.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in Island Community cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. EVANSVILLE -- Benjamin E. Townsend, 81, of Evansville died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital. The Evansville native retired from Whirlpool Co. in 1980 after 30 years, enjoyed playing golf and was a pitcher for Sterling Brewery softball team. He was an Army veteran of World War II, earned the rank of Radio Technical Sergeant and attended Calvary Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. His wife, Reva Cole Townsend, died in 1998.
Survivors include four sons, Larry T. Townsend of Evansville, Edward W. Gazell II of Owensboro, David E. Townsend of Indianapolis and Benjamin E. Townsend Jr. of Mesick, Mich.; two daughters, Diane Conklin of Garland, Texas, and Angentina Bippus of Evansville; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home in Evansville. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

CULLOM, Ill. -- Gretchen E. Gertrude Womacks, 89, of Bourbonnais, Ill., died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Provena Our Lady of Victory Home in Bourbonnais. The Cullom native was a homemaker, a 1930 graduate of Cullom High School and a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Cullom. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Martin Scheibling on Feb. 2, 1950 and Robert E. Womacks on Oct. 25, 1978.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Scheibling of Bourbonnais and Sonja Davis of Maceo; three grandchildren; a brother, Duane Puckett of Ashkum, Ill.; and a sister, Ruth Massa of Mansfield, Ohio.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Cullom. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery in Cullom. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mary Alice Allen, 79, of 25 River Road, Owensboro, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at her home. The Daviess County native retired from Medleys Distillery and Ahrons Strawberry Nursery in Huntingburg, Ind., and was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, Elizabeth Munday Senior Citizens, Sacred Heart and St. Jude. Her husband, Earl Allen, died in January 1977.
Survivors include three sons, James Earl Allen of Owensboro, Joseph Lee Allen of Hawesville and William Edward Allen of Owensboro; two daughters, Margaret Jolly of Sorgho and Patricia Deno of Huntingburg, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Paul Roberts of Jacksonville, Fla.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sorgho. DUNMOR -- J.I. Whitaker, 64, of Dunmor died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Penrod native worked at Supervalu as a supervisor and was a member of Dunmor Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Patty DeArmond Whitaker; a son, Terry Dwayne Whitaker of Dunmor; and five sisters, Carrie Bailey and Betty Hunt, both of Lewisburg, Dora Crawford of Lebanon, Tenn., Beulah Gibson of Penrod and Rena Milspaugh of California.

Floydia M. Henry Bell, 72, of Owensboro died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Owensboro native was a Baptist and enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include her husband, Victor Bell; four sons, Barry Johnson of Rockport, Ind., Victor Johnson, Henry Johnson and Tracy Johnson, all of Owensboro; three daughters, Blenda Johnson Board and Angela Johnson, both of Owensboro, and Kathy Johnson of Virginia Beach, Va.; 26 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Forrest "Buck" Henry of Louisville; two sisters, Barbara Buckner and Melvina Tolliver, both of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

POWDERLY -- Clifton N. Abbott, 83, of Powderly died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Butler County native retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority as a machinist. He was a Baptist and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Whittinghill Abbott; two sons, Danny Abbott of Central City and Larry Abbott of Chicago; three daughters, Julia Green of Elizabethtown, Tressa Cullen of Madisonville and Penny Buckingham of Seymour, Ind.; two stepsons, Harold Adler and David Adler, both of Indianapolis; three stepdaughters, Barbara Everly of Central City, Nancy Clark of Indianapolis and Judy Croxton of Drakesboro; seven grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, James Abbott of Newburgh, Ind.; and two sisters, Ava Jenkins of Morgantown and Irene Abbott of Indianapolis.
