L.B. Mahuron

L.B. Mahuron, 87, of Defoe, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005.

He was preceded in death by brothers Paul Mahuron and Gilbert Mahuron and a sister, Jane Coleman. He is survived by his wife, Alice Skidmore Mahuron of Defoe; a son, Roger Mahuron of Frankfort; a daughter, Faye Grieshaber of Louisville; a sister, Helen Dunaway of LaGrange; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was Wednesday at Sholar Funeral Home. Burial was in Defoe cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Pleasureville Masonic Lodge #410.

Kenneth Thomas McKinney

Kenneth Thomas McKinney, 61, of Elk Creek, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy McKinney. He is survived by his wife, Martine McKinney of Elk Creek; sons Brian McKinney of Shelbyville and Clint McKinney and Paul McKinney, both of Elk Creek; daughters Allison McKinney of Elk Creek and Kathy Deffendoll of Dekalb, Tenn.; brothers Bill McKinney of Waddy, Ronnie McKinney of Frankfort, David McKinney of Mount Eden, and Ricky McKinney of Taylorsville; sisters Mary Frances Catlett of Elk Creek, Betty Sue Richardson and Judy Puckett, both of Taylorsville, and Caroline McGaughey of Mount Eden; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

The funeral was Monday at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville. Burial was in Briar Ridge Christian Church cemetery.

Stephanie Purnell

Stephanie Purnell, 41, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005.

She is survived by her husband, Rob Purnell of Shelbyville; her father, James Snodgrass of Bowling Green; her mother and stepfather, Catheryn and Graham Horton of Simpsonville; sons Hunter Purnell and Robert Purnell, both of Shelbyville; a brother, Sean Snodgrass of Bowling Green; and a niece.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Shannon Funeral Home. Visitation is 2-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Simpsonville cemetery.

Henry 'Hank' Raisor

Henry "Hank" Raisor, 69, of Pendleton, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Merrill Raisor. He is survived by sons Glen Raisor of Smithfield, Paul Ray Raisor of Taylorsville, and Larry L. Raisor of Pendleton; sisters Juanita Lashley of Eminence, Barbara Owens of Smithfield, Marie Covington and Amanda Caldwell, both of New Castle, and Brenda Kelley of Campbellsburg; brothers Clay Raisor of Shelbyville and Robert Raisor of Eminence; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Point Pleasant cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Henry County Senior Citizens, or Hospice of Louisville, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Dr., Louisville, Ky. 40205-9890. Arrangements were handled by Prewitt Funeral Home.

Hattie Mae Kelley Woods

Hattie Mae Kelley Woods, 76, of Franklinton, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005.

She was preceded in death by her husband, D.C. Woods; a son, Danny Ray Woods; a grandson, Justin Ray Bartley; and a great-granddaughter, Jessica Faye McCarthy. She is survived by daughters LuAnn Heightchew of Franklinton, Joyce Rose of Florida, and Ruthie Heightchew of Pleasureville; a son, Clifford Woods of Corydon, Ind.; a sister, Frankie Gobble of Salisbury, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was Monday at Sholar Funeral Home. Burial was in Franklinton cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Vicky Lee Wright Wooten

Vicky Lee Wright Wooten, 37, of Shelbyville, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005.

She is survived by her husband, Aubrey Glenn Wooten of Shelbyville; a daughter, Makayla Lavonne Wooten of Shelbyville; a son, Dakota Mason Wooten of Shelbyville; sisters Pamela Wright, Sharon Martinez, and Karen Wright, all of Shelbyville; brothers Robert B. Wright of Shelbyville, Donald Wright and Keith Troy Wright, both of Louisville, Ricky Nelson Wright of Frankfort, Charles Edward Wright of Eminence, and David Darnell Wright of Carrollton; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.

The funeral was Tuesday at Clay Street Baptist Church. Burial was in Calvary cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Morton-Beckley Funeral Directors.

Paul Pearson Abrams

Paul Pearson Abrams, 82, of Owenton, died Dec. 3, 2004, at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington. He was the husband of Marie Walters Abrams.

He was born in Owen County on Nov. 1, 1922, and was the son of the late Wolf and Hallie B. Bramlett Abrams. He was a retired Lexington firefighter, farmer and Marine veteran of World War II. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and was an avid University of Kentucky fan.

Survivors include two sons, Don (Nanette) Abrams, and Lynn (Mary) Abrams, both of Lexington; three stepsons, Steve (Charlene) Whitlock, Gary Whitlock, both of Georgetown, and Chuck Whitlock, of Stamping Ground; two stepdaughters, Kim Whitlock and Rachel (Thomas) Boykin, both of Stamping Ground; a brother, Atmore (Doris) Abrams, of Owen county; a grandchild, Troy Adams; a great-grandchild, Dylan Abram; and several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Dec. 7, 2004, at Harmony Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Miller officiating.

Casketbearers were Troy, Kenny, Gary Dean, Jeff Abrams, Thomas Boykin, Biage and Darrell Hunley, Steve Whitlock, Gary Whitlock and Chuck Whitlock.

Burial was in the Abrams family cemetery.

Betty Albright Shepherd

Betty Albright Shepherd, 78, of Lawrenceburg and Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Georgetown, died Dec. 5, 2004, at her residence in Florida. She was the wife of Thomas Shepherd.

A native of Bell County, she was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Jasmine Durham Albright.

Survivors include three daughters, Coni Laudenslager, of Virginia, Janice Johnson and Linda Flynn, both of Frankfort; two stepchildren, Tommy Shepherd, of Dallas, and Pasty Gaines, of Frankfort; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, LeRoy Albright Jr., of Brownsville, Texas, and Richard Albright, of Shelbyville; two sisters, Doris Woodruff, of Georgetown, and Pat Vest, of Palmetto, Fla.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Robinson.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Johnson's Funeral Home, with the Rev. LeRoy Albright officiating.

Burial will be in Georgetown cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m until the time of service Dec. 9.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Anna Eliza McDuffie

Anna Eliza McDuffie, 82, died Dec. 5, 2004, at Dover Manor in Georgetown. She was the wife of the late Fred McDuffie.

She was born Aug. 21, 1922, to the late John I. and Alice Devine Johnson. She was member of Polk Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Ronnie (Jane) Rowe; two daughters, Ruby (Bernie) Harris and Ann (John) Dunson; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ambrose Johnson and John Headly Johnson; and a sister, Alice Louise Brown.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Polk Memorial Baptist Church in Mortonsville.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. until the service.

Smith & Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Frances Ware Nash

Frances Ware Nash, died Friday, Dec.10, 2004, in Danville. She was the wife of the late Warren O. Nash Sr.

She was born Oct. 21, 1907, in Georgetown. She was the loving widow of Warren O. Nash Sr., a prominent Georgetown businessman who died in 1978, just four months short of their 50th wedding anniversary. She lived most of her 97 years on East Main Street in Georgetown, where she was born. She was the fifth generation in her family to live in Scott County. Her ancestors were very active in the 19th-century development of Scott County, Georgetown and Georgetown College. She was often called upon for her knowledge of the people, homes, and events of early Georgetown. She particularly had a passion for East Main Street and for the Ware farm on Old Oxford Pike, which she and her late sister, Ruth Ware Huber, inherited from their parents. Her accolades varied from being voted in school "The Most Beautiful" to being a sub for the 1925 girls' state basketball championship team to being recognized later as an outstanding church and community volunteer.

A member of the Georgetown First Presbyterian Church all of her life, she and her husband served as superintendents of Sunday School and taught classes for several decades. Fifty years ago, she was among the 11 charter members who started the Georgetown Little Garden Club. She was also a charter member of the historical society. A voracious reader, she spent many years volunteering at the Georgetown Public Library and was honored for her service there. She attended Georgetown College and is a past member of the Scott County Woman's Club and the Lafayette Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Bettie (Ken) Brakebill, of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; a son, Dr. Warren O. Nash Jr. (Janet Clayton), of Danville; four grandchildren, Warren Nash III, of Lexington, Dr. Kenneth Clayton (Tammy) Nash, of Pittsburgh, Frances Brakebill (Mark) Lynch, of Phoenix, and Kenneth Warren (Emily) Brakebill of San Francisco; nine great-grandchildren, Ashley and Kristin Nash, of Georgetown, Carsyn and Ryan Nash, of Pittsburgh, Mark Carrick, Jordan and Luke Lynch, of Phoenix, and Sydney and Benjamin Nash Brakebill, of San Francisco; a brother-in-law, Lee Huber, of Orlando; a niece, Sandra Huber (Van) Donnan, of Orlando; a nephew, John Huber, of Orlando; a great-nephew, David Powers, of Orlando; and great-niece, Alison (Ian) Kleinert and their son, Colin, of New York.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at First Presbyterian Church in Georgetown, with the Rev. C. Patterson Clark Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Georgetown cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Mike Leaverton, Gordon Duke, Anson Burlingame, Duke Owens, Hugh Wyatt and Frank Penn.

Honorary bearers will be Earlene Arnett, Bonnie Neuville, Bill Hays, Howard Wiles, Ed Lynch, Horace Gaines, Brian Ellis, John Ward, Robert Milward, Tom Shuff, Ted Oldham, Joe Hoffman, Leo Reed, Spence Johnson, Charlie Jo Finley and Herndon Price.

Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Dec. 12 at Johnson's Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Bellewood Presbyterian Home for Children, Box 23309, Anchorage, KY 40223.

Yvonne C. Hayden

BOWLING GREEN -- Yvonne C. Hayden, 59, of Bowling Green, formerly of Owensboro, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green. The Bowling Green native was a member of Warren Way Church of God and co-owner of Yvonne's Cleaning Service.

Survivors include her husband, Richard E. Hayden; three sons, Danny W. Poteet and Terry R. Poteet, both of Bowling Green, and Gary B. Poteet of Somerset; a daughter, Donna K. Poteet of Brownsville; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; her mother and stepfather, Dorothy Stamps and Robert Ainslie of Bremen, Ga.; three sisters, Sandra Entrekin of Tallapoosa, Ga., Dianne Stoker of Memphis and Reland Norton of Bremen, Ga.; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel in Bowling Green. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jewel Mae Hall

CENTRAL CITY -- Jewel Mae Hall, 68, of Central City died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Muhlenberg County native was a housewife and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her companion, Ray Foster; four sons, Tommy Hall of Bremen, Robert Hall of New York, David Hall of Greenville and Thomas Hall of Nonnell; four daughters, Carolyn Billings and Claudia Franklin, both of Bremen, Sandy McCormick of Crofton and Betty Holskey of Sacramento; a stepdaughter, Cathy Myers of Jacksonville, Fla.; 25 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Tom Preston of Salem, Ill., Ronnie Pointer of Moorman and Gary Pointer of Central City; and three sisters, Jo Ann Garrett of Central City, Jean Taylor of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Betty Dunn of Madisonville.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Brian Lee Harned

LEITCHFIELD -- Brian Lee Harned, 2, of Leitchfield, formerly of Breckinridge County, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield from injuries sustained in a house fire. He was born in Elizabethtown.

Survivors include his parents, Scott Harned of Muldraugh and Mendy Harned of Hudson; his grandparents, Cheryl and Chuck Taul of Harned, Lyndall and Hilma Harned of Ashland and Lonard and Joyce Horsley of Hudson; his great-grandparents, Ruby Lucas and Bertha Horsley, both of Hudson, Anita Schafer of Ashland, Brenda and John Carlberg of Muldraugh, Delano and Clara Rose Harned of Custer, Charles and Bernice Taul of Harned and Dale and Midge Edge of Hardinsburg; and his great-great-grandparents, Vaniah Wade and William Taul, both of Hardinsburg.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Brian Harned Memorial Fund c/o Trent-Dowell Funeral Home.
