JohnMichael Walker Lindsey, 8 months, dad and moms little superman fought hard, but was carried home to Jesus by his guardian angels. He passed from this earthly body on May 12, 2010 at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville. He was born August 25, 2009 in Owensboro, KY to Michael and Amanda Daugherty Lindsey. He attended Hopewell Baptist Church in Horse Branch.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Danny Ray Lindsey.
Survivors include his parents, Michael and Amanda Daugherty Lindsey of Hartford, maternal grandparents, Johnny and Kathy Daugherty of Horse Branch, paternal grandparents, Terry and Janice Simpson of Hartford, paternal great grandfather, Henry Lindsey of Beaver Dam, paternal great grandparents, Leonard and Marilyn Farmer of Utica, and paternal great grandmother, Dorothy Simpson, of Hawesville. Aunt, Misty Daugherty of Bowling Green and uncle Brian Simpson of California also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, May 15, 2010 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Rev. Johnny Daugherty officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery in Hartford. Visitation will be from 4-8PM, Friday and 9AM until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Edwina (Beanie) Southard

Edwina (Beanie) Southard, of Beaver Dam, left her earthly body surrounded by family and friends on Saturday May 8th, 2010 at 10:17 pm and was placed in the arms of Jesus and her husband of 54 years Thomas Southard. She was loved and respected by all who had the honor and privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Martha Wider and her brother, Bill Phelps.
She leaves behind her children Ronnie (Eleanor) Southard of Beaver Dam, KY, Jerry (Barbara) Southard of Boonville, IN, and Debi (Greg) Clark of McHenry, KY. The pride and joy of her life were her seven grandchildren, Andrew Southard (Sonya), Kimberly Widner, Dusty Southard (Jennifer), Don Widner, Mandy Clubbs (Billy), Mary Ann Harris, Zachary Southard, and her eleven (and soon to be twelve) great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her best friend of many years Joyce (Mammy) Douglas, and her vast number of friends and extended family.
She always had a smile for everyone whether she knew them or not. She was bestowed the honor of being a Kentucky Colonel in 1981, and was a volunteer for Hospice of Ohio County for many years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday May 11, 2010 at the William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, KY with Rev. Glenn Armstrong officiating.. Her earthly body will be shown at the Funeral Home in Beaver Dam from 4-8 PM, Monday. Her final resting place will be along side her husband at Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam.

LEWISPORT -- Shirley Cahal, 73, of Lewisport died there Monday, May 21, 2001, at his home. The Hawesville native retired from W.R. Grace Chemical Co. after 31 years, was a deacon at Lewisport Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Cahal; a son, Brent Cahal of Lewisport; a daughter, Lisa Rice of Lewisport; and four grandchildren.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lewisport Baptist Church. Burial will be in Lewisport cemetery. Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Lewisport Baptist Church Building Fund or Lewisport Baptist Church Youth Fund.

Kathleen Harvey Woods 77, of Beaver Dam, passed away, Saturday, May 8th, 2010 at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab. She was born April 10 1933, to the late William Harvey and Daisy Harvey of Maryland. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Beaver Dam, and a former bookkeeper at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab.
Survivors include her sons, Steve Woods (Mandy) of Hartford, Tom Woods (Jennifer) of Hartford, and her daughters Sandra Minton (Charlie) of Beaver Dam, and Linda Hamilton Swindel (Michael) of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by 5 grand children, Michael Hamilton of Parker Colorado, Racheal Hamilton of Parker Colorado, Specialist Sean Thomas Hamilton (US Army), of Savannah GA, Jordan Woods of Hartford, and Jesse Woods of Hartford
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Kingdom Hall in Beaver Dam, with Brother Larry Holt officiating. Janet Sue Cockriel, 54, of Centertown, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at her residence. She was born September 11, 1955 to the late Noble Bill and Anna Jean Watson Parritt in Hartford, KY. She was member of Centertown Tabernacle and attended McHenry Baptist Church in McHenry. She also was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Dickie Parritt.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years Michael Cockriel of Centertown, three sons, Roy Cockriel and companion, Malina of Chicago, IL., Michael Cockriel of Pontiac, IL., and Paul Cockriel and wife, Linda of Centertown. Two brothers, Kenny Parritt of Owensboro and Jimmy Parritt wife, Debbie of Alabama, two sisters, Gaynell Ball and husband, Barry of Beaver Dam and Peggy Vincent and husband, Tony of Santa Claus, IN. Four grandchildren, Crystal Duncan Cockriel & Roy Duncan Cockriel and Paul Cockriel and Jaslyn Cockriel all of Centertown.

Alma L. Weedman Ford, 76, of Horse Branch, formerly of Louisville, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at her residence. She was born May 21, 1933 to the late Delbert and Emma Deweese Tarrence in Ohio Co, KY. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Beaver Dam and a retired bus driver for Jefferson County Public School.
She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Jimmie B. Weedman, who passed December 6, 2000.
Survivors include her husband, James L. Ford of Horse Branch, son, Jeff Weedman and wife, Jane of Horse Branch, daughter, Sondra Harbison and husband, David of Louisville, step-son, Donald Ford and wife, Charlotte of Beaver Dam, and step-daughter, Bennie Sandefur and husband, Sam of Horse Branch, three grandchildren, Patrick Harbison and wife, Natalie, Ben Quinton, and Kati Weedman, 1 great grandchild, Brett Harbison, 7 step grandchildren and 14 step great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM, EDT, Monday May 10, 2010 at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie HWY Louisville, KY. Burial will be in Bethany cemetery in Louisville. Visitation will be from 4-8PM, CDT, Friday, May 7, 2010 at William L. Danks Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, KY and 2-8PM, Saturday and Sunday at Owen Funeral Home in Louisville.

MARION, Ill. -- Ann Owen Genz, 67, of Marion, formerly of Owensboro, died Thursday, May 17, 2001, in Marion Memorial Hospital after a short illness. The Herrin, Ill., native retired as a special education teacher from the Owensboro school system after 16 years, was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Owensboro and was member and former president of American Association of University Women and Women's Coalition.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Willard John "Will" Genz; a son, Christopher Owen Genz of Denver, Colo.; four daughters, Gretchen Genz Davidson of Park Ridge, Ill., Camilla J. Klaskin of Kettle River, Minn., Jennie Genz Penrod of Metropolis, Ill., and Antoinette Genz Hayden of Elmwood Park, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and her sister, Kay Dale of Herrin, Ill.
Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home in Marion, Ill. There is no visitation.

Stella M. Likens, 81, of Beaver Dam, died Tuesday, May 04, 2010 at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab Center in Beaver Dam. She was born August 5, 1928 to the late Newt J. and Gracie Renfrow Allen in Beaver Dam, KY. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and a member of the Class of Faith Sunday School Class. She was retired from General Electric and she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Labern H. “Pee Wee” Likens, JR., who passed away, March 31, 1997, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Carman Allen.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby Likens and wife, Peggy and Michael Likens and wife, Wanda all of Beaver Dam, Lanny Likens and wife, Brenda of Owensboro, three sisters, Veda Coleman, Joyce Southard and husband, Glenn, and Eula Rock and husband Bud all of Beaver Dam, seven grandchildren, Angie Likens, Kevin Likens, Cory Likens, Treva Dobbs, Jason Likens, Jennifer Wist, and Craig Likens. 15 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday, May 6, 2010 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Rev. Glenn Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be from 4-8PM, Wednesday and 9AM until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Bill Gilstrap, 81 of Cromwell, died Friday, April 30, 2010 at Owensboro Medical Health System in Owensboro. He was born February 24, 1929 in Select (Ohio County), KY to the late Ancel Edgar and Pansy Marie Haven Gilstrap. He was a retired welder for KY Trailer Company in Louisville and a member of Bible Baptist Church in Beaver Dam.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jesse Ray Gilstrap and one sister, Vonnie Marie Wallace.
Survivors include one brother, Vernie Gilstrap of Cromwell and one sister, Elloweis Jones of Beaver Dam. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Monday at Bible Baptist Church in Beaver Dam, with Rev. Cleatus Bowman officiating. Burial will be in Gilstrap cemetery in Gilstrap, KY. Visitation will be from 1PM-6PM, Sunday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam and no visitation prior to the funeral Monday.
Charles E. Smith

Charles E. Smith, 78, of Hartford, passed away, Thursday, April 29, 2010, at his home in Hartford. He was born August 21, 1931 in Breckenridge County to the late Thomas Smith and Elsie Decker. He was also preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou Embry Smith.
He was a member of the Christian Church; and he was a retired Maintenance Supervisor for Thomas Monahan Broom Handles in Arcola Illinois.
Survivors include, three sons, Phil Smith of Mattoon Illinois, Joseph Smith of Beaver Dam, and Christopher Smith of Bowling Green, two daughters, Cora Hershman of Beaver Dam, and Diana Thompson of Hartford. He was also survived by 9 grand children, 16 great-grand children, 10 step grand children, and 2 great-great grand children. .
Funeral service will be held at 1:00PM, Sunday, May 2, 2010 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Rev.Terry Tarrance officiating. Burial will be in Rosine cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Saturday and 9am until the funeral hour on Sunday at the funeral home.
Ned “Bro” Lucas

Ned “Bro” Lucas, 67, of Beaver Dam went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at his home. He was born November 16, 1942 to the late Ephraim and Virginia Lucas in Burnwell, WVA. He was a retired auto mechanic and late model dirt track driver. He was a member of Echols Church of God in Echols. He spent much of his time during retirement in ministering at local jails and prisons. He was selfless with his time in ministering to others, and although he was ill himself, he would go the extra mile to pray with the sick. Ned never met a stranger and he greeted everyone as “Hey Bro”.
Ned was a veteran late model dirt track driver who began his racing career in 1969 – 1999. He was a favorite on tracks throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, West Virginia and Indiana driving the Lucas built 7L racing machine. His style of racing turned the heads of crowds because of his belief of “drive it in deep bro”. As noted by other drivers, he was a great wheelman and a true “racer’s racer”. He was a fearless racer who simply never held back. He was a mentor to new and up and coming drivers and was always willing to lend a helping hand to support other drivers.
Ned is survived by his wife, Gloria Millette Lucas of Beaver Dam, (1) son, Ned Anthony Lucas of Las Vegas, NV., (3) daughters, Anita Lynn Cardinal of Flint MI., Krista Shay Daily of Grayson, KY., and Erica Renee Wright of Ironton, OH., (1) brother, Gaylord Lucas of Yucca, AZ., (2) sisters, Esther Adkins of Grayson, KY., and Martha Lucas of Columbus, OH.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Revs. Betty Shaver and Brian Shaver officiating. Burial will be in Render Memorial cemetery in McHenry. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM, Tuesday and 9AM until time of service, at 11 AM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made in the form of donations to the Echols Church of God Youth Department.

TELL CITY, Ind. -- Evelyn Franchville, 71, of Tell City died Saturday, May 19, 2001, at her daughter's home in Shelbyville, Ind., from cancer. The Ranger, Ind., native had been a clerk for 25 years at the former Tresslar's 5 & 10, and at Bi-Low Store and Shoe-Show, all in Tell City. She retired as deli manager at Noble's IGA and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and VFW Auxiliary Post 2939. Her husband, Jesse Franchville, died in 1995.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Lee Franchville of Tell City; a daughter, Betty Jean Boyce of Shelbyville, Ind., three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Curtis Jarboe of Derby, Ind.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City chapel. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial services will be conducted by VFW Post 2939 Auxiliary after prayers are said. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Shelby County or a favorite charity.

Joe Carroll Hensley, 37, formerly of Shelbyville, died June 27 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Rouland Douglas Bogens, 76, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at his home.
He was a native of Milwaukee, Wisc., a real property agent, and a member of the Noritake Collector's Society.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Sue Bogens; and a son, Brett Arthur Bogens of Shelbyville.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Shannon Funeral Home.
