Arlene "Grandmother" Skaggs, 90, of Chalybeate, KY, died Monday, November 15, 2010 in Bowling Green, KY. She was born September 6, 1920 in Union County to the late U.L. Lovell and the late Minnie Stewart Lovell and was the wife of the late Carl Skaggs. She was a retired clerk for the former Parker Hardware in Brownsville. She was a Charter and 50 yr. member of Chalybeate Homemakers and a member and former Sunday School Teacher at Chalybeate United Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Carla Foster of Shelbyville, KY and Eleanor Lindsey (Mike) of Bowling Green, KY; one sister, Nannie L. Brown of Morganfield, KY; three grandchildren, Jeanna Foster of Shelbyville, KY, Andrew and Ashley Lindsey of Bowling Green, KY; two great grandchildren, Emma Kate Lindsey and Macy Lane Lindsey; extended family, Jim, Brenda and Ali Gildersleeve; one brother-in-law, Conner Skaggs; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Parker and Lenvia Lovell.
Burial will be in the Kinser cemetery with Bro. Ricahrd Minton and Bro. Howard Decker officiating.

Cora Mae Stites Groce, age 86, of Brownsville, KY., died Thursday, October 28, 2010 in Bowling Green, KY. She was born December 9, 1923 in Jeffersonville, IN. to the late John Stites and the late Ruby Bridges. She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jessie Paul Groce of Glasgow, KY; a daughter, Lenetta York of Brownsville, KY; three sons, Charles Kinser (Millie) of Tacoma, WA, Harold Wayne Kinser (Pat) of Tyler, TX and David Bruce Kinser of Bowling Green, KY; one brother, Bobby Stites of Norfolk, VA; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Marvin Kinser; three sisters and three brothers.
Graveside service will be 2:00pm, Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow, KY with Bro. Jerry Patton officiating.
Elta Mae Van Meter
Elta Mae Van Meter, 85, of Bee Spring, KY, died Thrusday, November 4, 2010 in Leitchfield, KY. She was born November 29, 1924 in Edmonson Co., KY to the late Pink Hayes and the late Lillie Ashley Hayes. She was a homemaker and a member of Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Sherbert Van Meter (Linda) of Bee Spring, KY; one daughter, Marcia Higdon of Leitchfield, KY; one brother, Frank Hayes (Diane) of Bowling Green, KY; two sisters, Roberta Decker (Wilburn) of Mammoth Cave, KY and Patsy Carroll of Bee Spring, KY; four grandchildren, Jackie Van Meter (Tammy) , Tracie Godby (Mark), David Higdon and Kevin Higdon (Marlene) and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Van Meter; three brothers, Glen, Jerry and Boyd Hayes and two sisters, Pug Harp and Bobbie Brooks. Burial will be in the Jock Church cemetery with Bro. Jerry Patton officiating.

Cartmell B. Wheeler, 99, of Wellington Parc, Owensboro, died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Central City native retired from an insurance agency. She was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church in Owensboro and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church in Sarasota, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, M.M. Wheeler.
Survivors include a stepgrandson and several nephews and nieces.
Services are pending at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home.
William L. "Bill" Martin, Jr.
William L. "Bill" Martin, Jr., age 87 of Park City, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 in Glasgow.
He was born March 9, 1923 in Barren County to the late W.L. Martin, Sr. and Ora Berry Martin.
He was a retired farmer, World War II Air Force Veteran and a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by two brothers, Charles and Roger Martin; one sister, Evelyn Martin all of Park City and several cousins and friends.
Services will be officiated by Bro. Robbie Ward and Bro. Ken Thomas with burial in the Walnut Hill cemetery.

CROSSVILLE, Ind. -- James A. "Jim" Daniel, 54, of Crossville died there Friday, May 18, 2001, at his home. The Owensboro native was a disabled truck driver and member of Crossville Ruritan Club.
Survivors include two sons, James A. Daniel II and George Daniel, both of Owensboro; a daughter, Mishalle Daniel of Owensboro; his mother, Katherine Daniel of Crossville; and two brothers, Larry Daniel of Gold Beach, Ore., and David Daniel of Crossville.
Services are at 11 a.m. today at Sturm Funeral Home in Crossville, Ill. Burial will be in White County Memorial Gardens in Carmi, Ill.
Velma Skaggs Moody
Velma Skaggs Moody, age 83 of Brownsville, passed away, Wednesday, March 18, 2009 in Bowling Green. She was born July 20, 1925 in Edmonson Co. to the late Luther Skaggs and the late Nettie Cook Skaggs. She was a retired clerk for Pier 19 in Cave City and a hotel manager. She was a Member of Eastern Star and a Methodist.
She is survived by one grandson, Bryan Moody (Gretchen) of Louisville, KY; granddaughter, Loree Moody of Lexington, KY; daughter-in-law, Janice Ann Moody of Brownsville, KY; two great grandchildren, Gillian Moody, Jacob Moody; brother, Leroy Skaggs (Arlene) of Louisville, KY; two nieces, Mary Mathews of Bowling Green, KY, Joy Raymond of Cave City, KY. She was preceded in death by one son, Harvey Lee Moody. Services will be officiated by Bro. Jerry Patton with burial in the Fairview cemetery.

Rev. Wayne Basil, age 65, of Brownsville, passed away, Tuesday, March 17, 2009 in Bowling Green. He was born July 9, 1943 in Barren County to the late Paul Basil and to the late Mildred Hatcher Basil and was married
to Anna Basil. He was a retired electrician for General Motors and was a member at Poplar Springs United Baptist Church.
He is survived by wife, Anna Basil of Brownsville, KY; Three sons, Darrell Basil (Jeannie) of Bowling Green, KY, Tim Basil (Lisa) of Brownsville, KY, Kevin Basil (April) of Brownsville, KY; six grandchildren, Tyler Basil, Christina Mize, Alex Basil, Serina Thomas, Alex Thomas, Jhonna Basil; one brother, Kenneth Basil (Sherry) of Bowling Green, KY; two siters, Jean Vincent (Billy) of Brownsville, KY, Janice Vincent (Danny) of Hiseville, KY. Rev. Grover C. Pierce, age 81, of Chalybeate passed away, Saturday February 28, 2008 in Bowling Green. He was born July 28, 1927 in Barren Co. to the late Rev. Solomon Kelly Pierce and the late Dollie Mae Glass Pierce, and was married
to Chloie Ray Pierce. He was a farmer and a member of Edmonson Co. Lions Club, Edmonson Co. Saddle Club, Kentucky Colonel, Charter member and former Chief Chalybeate Volunteer Fire Department and Chalybeate United Baptist Church.
He is survived by wife, Chloie Ray Pierce of Chalybeate; one daughter, Judy Poteet (Terry) of Brownsville; three brothers, Ecel Pierce of Brownsville, James Pierce (Carol) of Glasgow, KY, J.D. Pierce (Sheryl) of Brownsville; three sisters, Joyce Wingfield of Chalybeate, Janice Morgan of Chalybeate, Evon Priddy of Chalybeate; two grandchildren, Jarred Poteet of Browsville, Jessica Poteet of Browsville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, C.M. "Buck" Pierce and Bill Pierce, one sister, Lanada Pierce. Services will be officiated by Bro. Steve Gipson, Bro. Steve Doyle and Bro. Ida Christine Wheeler, 85, of 3321 Allen St., Owensboro, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at her home. The Daviess County native retired from the cafeteria at Brescia College and was a Baptist. Her husband, Hardwick Wheeler, died Jan. 11, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Rodney Wayne Wheeler and Clifton J. "Sonny" Wheeler, both of Owensboro; two daughters, Mary Helen Fritton of Santa Claus, Ind., and Betty Lou Skinner of Yuba City, Calif.; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Brushy Fork cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Irene Cooke Pardue
Irene Cooke Pardue, age 90, of Tampa FL, passed away, Monday February 16, 2009 in Oldsmar, FL. She was born August 6, 1918 in Edmonson Co. to the late John Milous Cooke and the late Della Johnson Cooke and was married
to the late William O. Pardue. She was a retired housekeeping manager for Shriners Hospital in St. Louis, MO and is a member of Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Pat Barker (Robert) of Tampa, FL; two granddaughters, Michele Barker of Tampa, FL, Nicole Depew (Israel) of Togo, Africa; three great grandchildren, Joshua Depew, Kaitlyn Oleske, Abigail Depew; two sisters, Ruth Bryant of Dayton, OH, Nell Gipson of Brownsville, KY. Services Will Be officiated by Bro. Jimmy York with burial in Hawkins cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association or to the Shriners Hospital.

HARTFORD -- Mary Magdalene Stewart, 78, of Hartford died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Ohio County Hospital. The Ohio County native was a homemaker and member of New Hope Pentecostal Church in Fordsville. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hobart Bratcher in 1966, Stoy B. Daugherty in 1972, Amos Daugherty in 1974 and Adrion Stewart in 1999; a son, Orbin Bratcher in 1973; and a daughter, Mae Basham in 1984.
Survivors include her son, William H. Bratcher of Beaver Dam; three daughters, Mildred Bratcher of Hartford and Judy Geary and Cova A. "Vinnie" Stewart, both of Horse Branch; two stepsons, Milford Bratcher of Beaver Dam and Clifton Bratcher of Frankfort; several other stepchildren; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a half sister, Ruby D. Knudson of Tennessee; a stepbrother, Lafe Neighbors of Arkansas; and two stepsisters, Virginia Coons and Agnes Richert, both of Owensboro.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home. Burial will be in Leach cemetery in Ohio County. Teresa Faye Decker Crabtree, age 49, of Park City passed away Thursday, February 19, 2009 in Glasgow. She was born July 23, 1959 in Edmonson Co. to the late Velzie Decker and the late Beulah Lee Sanders Decker and was married
to Frank Crabtree. She was a housewife and a member at Hill Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by husband, Frank Crabtree of Park City; two sons, Frankie Lee Crabtree of Park City, Christopher Crabtree of Park City; five brothers, Charles Decker (Dena) of Bowling Green, Willie Decker of Park City, Osa Decker (Pam) of Park City, James Decker of Park City, Ronnie Decker (Julie) of Park City; four sisters, Opal Yokley (James) of Smiths Grove, Brenda Chase (Bobby) of Glasgow, Gayle Graves (Danny) of Park City, Kaye Brooks (Cary) of Chalybeate, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Ova Decker and Dennie Lee Decker. Services will be officiated by Bro. David Reynolds with burial in the Hill Grove Church cemetery.

Teresa Lynn Fraim Webb, age 36 of Brownsville, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007 at her residence. She was born July 29, 1970 in Louisville, KY to David Fraim and the late Billie Faye Fraim. She was a member of Fairview United Baptist Church and the Assistant Director for the Edmonson County Parks and Recreation.
She is survived by her husband, A.B. Webb of Brownsville; two sons, Benjamin and James Webb of Brownsville; one daughter, Sarah Ashleigh Webb of Brownsville; father, David Fraim of Brownsville: one niece, Tea' Catt of Brownsville; father in law, Willie Webb of Brownsville. She was also preceded in death by a sister Penney Fraim Catt. Services will be officiated by Bro. Malcolm Doyle, Bro. Jerry Spainhoward and Bro. Donald Webb with burial in the Oak Hill cemetery. Bluford W. "B.W." Madison
Bluford W. "B.W." Madison, age 80 of Louisville, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2007 at his residence. The Edmonson County native was born October 4, 1926 to the late Ezra and Elnora Wilson Madison and married
to the late Mary E. Houchin Madison. He owned multiple service stations in the Louisville area and was a member of Beaver Dam United Baptist Church, Suburban Masonic Lodge #740 F&AM and a 32nd Degree Shriner, he was also the past president of the Kentucky Gasoline Dealers Association and a World War II Navy veteran.
He is survived by one son, Terry Madison of Louisville; one daughter, Vicki Madison of Louisville; two granddaughters, Stephanie Renee and Elizabeth Nicole Madison of Louisville; one sister, Ellen Slaughter of Louisville and one brother Rev. Ray Madison of Louisville. Services and visitation are being held at Fern Creek Funeral Home 5406 Bardstown Rd., Louisville, KY. Bro. Jerry B. Elmer Logsdon, age 92 of Mammoth Cave, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2007 at his residence. The Edmonson County native was born October 23, 1914 to the late Willie Logsdon and Rosa Jaggers Logsdon and married
to the late Ollie Mae Clark Logsdon. He was a farmer and a member of Hill Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by three daughters, Loretta Jean Logsdon of Mammoth Cave, Lola Ashley and husband Ray of Mammoth Cave and Pearl Logsdon and husband Dale of Sunfish; one brother, Ernest Logsdon of Mammoth Cave; two grandchildren, Tammie Lashley and husband Tommy of Mammoth Cave and Jamie Ashley and wife Katie of Mammoth Cave and one great grandson, Hunter Ashley of Mammoth Cave. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Arvel and Tommy Logsdon. Services will be officicated by Bro. Danny Sexton and Bro. Dave Taylor with burial in the Hill Grove cemetery.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Walter John Matthews, 72, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Owensboro, died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Missouri Veterans Home. The Griffith, Ind., native had been a salesman at General Sign Co. and Shivelbine's Music Store, a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and served in the Air Force from September 1947 to September 1951, where he earned the rank of staff sergeant.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Elizabeth Jane Lang Matthews; four sons, Walter Lee Matthews of Jackson, Mo., Mark Mathews and J.B. Matthews, both of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and David Matthews of Owensboro; a daughter, Melody Hamilton of Petersburg, Ind.; a stepson, Hugo Lang of Paducah; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Walls of St. Louis; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; three brothers, Don Mathews of Henderson and Mike Mathews and Pat Mathews, both of Owensboro; and two sisters, Wanda Anderson and Lois Weideman, both of Owensboro.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home, Mount Auburn chapel. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Donald Burton Vincent, age 68 of Brownsville, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at his residence. The Edmonson County native was born May 29, 1938 to the late Ernest H. and Verdie Sowders Vincent. He was a member of Poplar Springs United Baptist Church.
He is survived by one brother Noel T. Vincent and wife Hannah of Brownsville; one sister, Hazel Lashley of Louisville and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Clarence O. Vincent and three sisters, Ruth E. Vincent, Nola M. Turner and Louise I. Lindsey. Services will be officiated by Bro. Alexander James Davidson, infant son of Adam and Amanda Arnett Davidson of Bowling Green passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
He was also survived by his grandparents, Terry and Sue Arnett of Bowling Green and Larry and Patty Davidson of Hendersonville, TN; great grandparents Maxine Bowers of Livingston, TN and Rose Davidson of Greenville, MS. Judith 'Judy Bug' Goff

EVANSVILLE -- Judith "Judy Bug" Goff, 54, of Evansville died there Saturday, May 19, 2001, at Core Nursing and Rehabilitation from cancer. The Huntingburg, Ind., native had been vice president of the Tri-State Corvette Club, worked as a security officer for Whirlpool Co., where she won Officer of the Year in 2000, and was a 1966 graduate of Dale High School. She enjoyed attending car shows and had won many trophies for her car.
Survivors include a son, Dennis R. James Jr. of Evansville; a grandchild; and a twin sister, Joan Crask of Hardinsburg.
Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fuller Funeral Home and Crematory, Dale chapel. Burial will be in Dale cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Clarence James Vincent
Clarence James Vincent, age 92 of Palmyra, Indiana, passed away Monday, April 23, 2007 at Watertown Memorial Hospital in Watertown, Wisconsin. He was the son of the late Willard Vincent and Rebecca Sanders Vincent and husband of the late Veda Mae Vincent.
He is survived by one son, Herb Vincent and wife Debi of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin; two sisters, Edith Wilson and Mary Davis both of New Albany, Indiana; one brother, Warner G. Vincent of Sturdevant, Wisconsin; three grandchildren and fifteen great- grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by, three children, Charles William Vincent, Eva Jean Vincent and James Ray Vincent and one brother Conard "Dit" Vincent. Officiating will be Bro. Jerry Patton with burial in the Vincent cemetery in Mammoth Cave.

Faye Evelyn Richards Woodcock, age 69 of Sweeden, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2007 at her residence. She was born January 4, 1938 in Edmonson County to the late Ernest Richards and Grace Webb Richards. She was a beautician, a school bus driver for the Edmonson County Schools and a member of Fairview United Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Franklin Woodcock of Sweeden; three daughters, Kimberlee Gipson and husband Steve of Chalybeate, Regina Fridy and husband Pete of Chalybeate and Tonya Compton and husband Steven of Mt. Washington, KY; one brother, Roy Richards of Brownsville; two sisters, Joyce Cureton and Linda Russell of Smiths Grove, KY; seven grandchildren, Christy Darding, Shannon Gipson, Haley Gipson, Zachary Compton, Nicholas Compton, Johnathan Compton and Garrett Compton; two step grandchildren, Tommy Fridy and Brandy Griffith; three great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Bennie Richards and one sister Gaye McDougal. Services are being officiated by Bro. Malcom Doyle and Bro. Donald Webb with burial in the Fairview Church cemetery.

She was the daughter of the late Clarence DeArmond and the late Stella (Tunstil) DeArmond.
She was the wife of the late Corbett "Jack" Day.
