BREMEN -- Mildred Hopgood, 85, of Bremen died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville. The Muhlenberg County native was a homemaker and member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen. Her husband, John Hopgood, died in 1987.
Survivors include two sons, Carl Ray Hopgood of Central City and John Wayne Hopgood of Bremen; two daughters, Barbara Settle of Bremen and Nadia Key of Central City; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Juanita McGinnis Hudson
Juanita McGinnis Hudson, 75 of Bowling Green died at 3:30 AM Friday, July 25, 2003 at her home.
Funeral arrangements, which are under the direction of Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, Inc., are incomplete.
Dora Belle Thomasson

CALHOUN -- Dora Belle Thomasson, 88, of Calhoun died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. The Calhoun native retired as a postal employee from United States Postal Service's Calhoun office after many years and was a member of Calhoun Christian Church. Her husband, A.B. Thomasson, died Sept. 27, 1954.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. W.T. Hull of Calhoun; and a niece.
Graveside services are at 2 p.m. today at Calhoun cemetery in McLean County. Visitation is from 1 to 1:45 p.m. today at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Calhoun Christian Church, c/o the Rev. Drex Stuart, P.O. Box 67, Calhoun, KY 42327.
June Karns Slifer
June Karns Slifer, age 93, of Bowling Green, Ky., died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Bowling Green, Ky. Slifer was a Homemaker and was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church where she was an active member of the L.L.L. Seniors Group, The Broadway Quilters, and the Faithful Servants Sunday School Class
She was a daughter of the late Christopher Karns and the late Sarah (Hatler) Karns and wife of the late Harry Martin Slifer.
She is survived by her Two Daughters, Karen Slifer Wolfe and her husband Dr. James Wolfe of Bowling Green, Ky. Carla Slifer Fulton and her husband John Fulton of Hot Springs Village, Ark.
Five grandchildren, Six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Anita Kay Ramsey
Anita Kay Ramsey, age 42, of Garland, Texas, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at her residence in Garland, Texas Ms. Ramsey was employed by Gerber Scientific Company as a Software Development Manager, and was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Western Kentucky University.
She is survived by her Parents Robert P. and Willanna Patterson Ramsey of Bowling Green; Maternal Grandmother, Flora Duff of Bowling Green; an Uncle Erle Duff of Pima, Arizona; and a Great Aunt, Lucille Miller of Bowling Green.
Arrangements are being handled by Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, 901 Fairview Avenue, Bowling Green, Ky., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, July 27, 2003. Funeral service will be at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Monday, July 28, 2003 , Rev. Richard W. Bridges officiating. Interment will be at Fairview cemetery in Bowling Green, Ky.
Ethel Mae Jennings

KUTTAWA -- Ethel Mae Jennings, 90, of Bremen died Monday, July 9, 2001, at Hilltop Nursing Home in Kuttawa after a short illness. The Muhlenberg County native was an active member of East Union Missionary Baptist Church and retired as head cook of Bremen schools. She was preceded in death by her husband, Opal Garld Jennings, in 1982; and a daughter, Gladys Newman Bowles, in 1991.
Survivors include a son, Garld Jennings of Ball Ground, Ga.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry Paul Jarvis of Powderly; a sister, Flora Case of Bremen; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lottie Engler McGown
Lottie McGown, age 90, of Bowling Green, died at 9:30 pm, Monday, October 13, 2003 at a Bowling Green nursing home. The Logan County native was a retired school teacher, having taught in the Logan, and Jefferson County school systems. She was a graduate of Western Kentucky State Teachers College and Catherine Spaulding College she was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Virgil and Stella Mayben Engler and wife of the late Paul McGown.
Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 16, 2003 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home

LOUISVILLE -- Pamela D. Hatchett Heard, 30, of Louisville died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at her home. The Louisville native was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Louisville.
Survivors include her husband, Stephen Heard; a daughter, Kesha Hatchett Heard of Louisville; her parents, Delbert Hatchett of Owensboro and Willie P. Hatchett of Louisville; two brothers, Tommy L. Armstrong of Germany and Ronald Hatchett of Louisville; and seven sisters, Angela Hatchett and Stephanie D. Hatchett, both of Louisville, Angela M. Hatchett and Carolyn Y. Hatchett, both of St. Louis, Michele P. Miller of Cincinnati, Debbie Drane of Cloverport and Veronica E. McBride of Owensboro.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Louisville. Burial will be in Louisville. Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at G.C. Williams Funeral Home in Louisville. Young's Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Nathalie "Lee" Stauss
Nathalie "Lee" Stauss, age 76, of Bowling Green, Ky., died Monday, June 28, 2004, at Britthaven Nursing Home in Bowling Green, Ky. Mrs. Stauss was a homemaker, and sales associate with Sears. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. .
She was the daughter of the late Leon Mallberg and the late Bertha (Pehoski) Mallberg.
She is survived by her husband William Stauss;

Elva Mae Gardner

GREENVILLE -- Elva Mae Gardner, 93, of Greenville died there Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Maple Manor Nursing Home after several weeks' illness. The Huntsville native retired from Kentucky Children's Home in Louisville and was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville, Young At Heart Club and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two nieces.
Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Methodist Church cemetery in Huntsville. Visitation is after 6 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Alexander Hilfer
Alexander Hilfer, age 79, of Bowling Green, Ky., formerly of Naugatuck resident, died 4:17 am, Sunday, June 27, 2004, at The Medical Center @ BG in Bowling Green, Ky. He was the husband of Helene Russin Hilfer. Mr. Hilfer was born in Pogranitche, Poland, March 18, 1922, a son of the late Joseph and Margaret Sturmer Hilfer and immigrated from Germany to Naugatuck in 1955. He lived in Naugatuck for 48 years, moving to Bowling Green last August. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Naugatuck, Conn.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Russin Hilfer of Bowling Green. Other survivors include two sons, Karl-Heniz Hilfer of Holland and Bernhard Hilfer of the Keys, FL; one daughter Rose Giovanette of Bowling Green, Ky; one sister, Margaret Treu of Naugatuck; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, at 10:00 am at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial in the Grove cemetery. William Irvin Brown

CENTERTOWN -- William Irvin Brown, 86, of Centertown died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Ohio County native retired as a farmer and school bus driver from the Ohio County Board of Education. He was a deacon and member of West Point Baptist Church in Matanzas.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Ashby Brown; and a daughter, Rebecca Berryman of Centertown.
Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Centertown. Burial will be in Centertown cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Agnes C. Meeks
Agnes Cecilia Hummell Meeks, age 92, of Morehead, Ky., formerly of Bowling Green, died at 10:24 am Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Ky. The Warren County native was a homemaker and a Presbyterian.
Most of her adult life was spent on a farm in Butler County, and in Warren County on cemetery Road and later years in Morehead, KY under the care of her daughter, Sharon Jackson, Linda Brewer, Kelli Caldwell, The Betty Warren Home and Melissa Malpica.
She was the wife of the late Raleigh Meeks and daughter of the late William H. Hummell, Sr. and Emma F. Bittner Hummell
She is survived by her Three Children; Daughter-Sharon Jackson of Morehead, KY.
Two Sons, Dr. Ronald Meeks of Cincinnatti, OH and Neil Meeks of St. Louis, MO Ten grandchildren; Renee Bognar, Lisa Wright, David Meeks, Denise Shaiper, Cynthia Tsatsos, Brian Moore, Gina Lyons, Casey Moore, Chad Jackson, and Amy Jackson.
Ten great-grandchildren also survive

REYNOLDS STATION -- Linda Elaine Phillips, 55, of Reynolds Station died Sunday, July 15, 2001, at her home. The Ohio County native worked at Hillcrest Health Care and was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Helen Phillips of Reynolds Station.
Services are at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville. Burial will be in Cates cemetery in Whitesville. Visitation is after noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
Jimmy Ray Meeks

Jimmy Ray Meeks, 75, of Smiths Grove died, October 15, 2011 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. He was a retired farmer and a member of Martinsville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucian Meeks and Esther Wheat Meeks; his wife, Novice Meeks; two brothers, Donald and J.W. Meeks and a sister, Charlene Gentry. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 17, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, Inc. with burial in Bowling Green Gardens. Flora May Davis

ISLAND -- Flora May Davis, 89, of Island died there Saturday, May 26, 2001. The Island native was a homemaker, a member of Buttonsberry Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting, singing and spending time with family. Her husband, John William Davis, died July 11, 1966.
Survivors include a son, Johnny Eugene Davis of Ionia, Mich.; five daughters, Jewell Boyken of Island, Carol Smith of Bremen, Dorothy Stevens of Atlanta, Mich., Linda Coffman of Crofton and Donna Howard of Winterville, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery in Livermore. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Sara Kerr Cornwell
(May 3, 1917 - November 20, 2011)
Sara Kerr Cornwell, 94, died Nov. 20, 2011 at her home with her family around her. Retired from Western Ky. University, she was the last of the seven daughters of the late George B. and Nora M. Kerr. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, Lloyd K. Cornwell and a grandson, Brian Christopher Hobbs. The Bowling Green native was a life- long member of Kerr Memorial United Methodist Church (now Faith United Methodist Church) whose founding pastor was her grandfather, the Rev. Daniel F. Kerr. Over her many years at Kerr Memorial, she served as organist, member of the choir and in various other capacities. She was a member of The Bowling Green Garden Club and The Southern Ky. Fiber Guild where her love of weaving thrived. Sara was a devoted wife, loving mother and a magnificent cook. The door was always open to family or friends to sample her home-made cuisine. Her patience and kindness drew in everyone who met her. She cherished time spent with her family and that love was passed on to her daughters.
She is survived by three daughters, Martha Ann Seward of Louisville, Ky., Sister Linda Harrington of Crozet, Va., Cynthia Hobbs(husband John); 5 grandchildren-Debbie Cook(husband Bill), Tom Seward, Laurel Harrington, Meghan Chandler(husband William), Alison Rouse(husband Brian) and 5 great-grandchildren. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to Faith United Methodist Church or The St. Vincent DePaul Society. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM on Wednesday Nov. 23 with Funeral services following at 11AM - both at Faith United Methodist Church-600 Veterans Memorial Lane, Bowling Green, Ky. 42101 Burial will be at Fairview cemetery.
