Alta Juanita Smith

Alta Juanita Smith, 60, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at the NHC Health Care Center. She is the daughter of Louise Riley Patterson and the late Samuel Roller. She was a member of the Coral Hill Church of God.
Besides her mother she is survived by her husband: Marshall Logan Smith; three children: Richard Edward Smith, Marsha Gaye DeTalente and Cathy Lynn Page; two brothers: Samuel Roller, Jr. and Arnold Ziegler; four sisters: Barbara Ferguson, Theodosia Holmes, India Stewart and LaTonya Patterson; seven grandchildren: Candis Tony, Anthony Knowland, Joshua Powell, Jessie Powell, Whitney DeTalente, Christy Biggerstaff and Amanda Turner; five great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10:00 A.M. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with Bro. Leon Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 2: 00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Nola Sneed
March 1, 1932 - June 10, 2006
Nola Keltner Sneed, 74, Glasgow, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at the Glenview Health Care Center. A native of Adair County, she was a daughter of the late Carter and Vester Moss Keltner and the widow of the late William Glenn Sneed. She was a homemaker and had been attending the Shiloh Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Lemuel Wayne Sneed and his wife, Lavonda, of Glasgow; one granddaughter, Casey Miranda Sneed of Glasgow; two sisters, Mildred Sneed and Flora Blakley both of Louisville; one brother, George Henry Keltner of Columbia; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Union #2 cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Autumn Francis Snyder
Autumn Francis Snyder age 88 of Lynn Court, Glasgow died Wednesday at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Alexander Francis and Anna Collins Neville and the wife of the late Conard James Snyder She was a homemaker and attended the Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by one Daughter: Shirley Davis of Glasgow. Two Grandchildren: Elisabeth Davis of Cincinnati and Daniel Davis of Midway. One Great Grandson: Anthony Pruitt of Cincinnati and One Great Great Grandson: Gavin Leahy.
Funeral will be 10:00 AM Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Walnut Ridge cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:00 PM Friday.
Edith Tracy
August 07, 1926 - April 26, 2003
Edith Elizabeth Tracy age 76 of the Austin Community died Saturday, April 26, 2003 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Ben and Fannie Huskisson Gillenwaters. A hairdresser for many years in Austin, KY and a member of the Peter’s Creek Church of Christ.
She is survived by three Daughters: Charlotte Berry and her husband Charles of Austin. Marsha Hanson and her husband Steve of Glasgow. Julie Birge of Glasgow. One Son: Joe Tracy and his wife Rhonda of Murray. Eleven Grandchildren: Micah Scobee and her husband Michael, Jason and Amanda Berry. Heather, Kyle and Keela Tracy. Erin Simpson. Stephanie and Holli Hanson. Brandi and Briana Birge. One brother: B Gillenwaters and his wife Donna of Louisville, KY. One sister Gerte Watkins and her husband Dewey of Glasgow. Also several nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Woodie Tracy and her son-in-law Tony G. Birge.
Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Union #1 cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home after 2:00 P.M. Monday.
Joan D. Talley
February 7, 1939 - July 2, 2001
Joan D. Talley, 62, Merry Oaks, died Monday morning at her residence. A native of St. Louis, Mo., she was a daughter of the late Durphy and Elna Staab Burke. She was a homemaker, a member of the New Vision Baptist Church and a member of Bury the Hatchet Intertribal Council of Native Americans. Her native name was Red Wing.
Survivors include her husband, Sam; two daughters, Sandy Corder of Missouri and Jamie Francis of Bon Ayr; five sons, Sam Talley, Jr. of Bon Ayr, Frank Talley of Kansas, Rev. Charles Talley of Bon Ayr, Brian Talley of Rocky Hill and Shawn Talley of Merry Oaks; six grandchildren, Ashley Talley, Angel Francis, Samantha Francis, Joshua Talley, Christopher Talley and Casey Talley; one brother, Frank Burke of Missouri; one sister, Katherine Hogan of Illinois; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Richwood cemetery in Corning, Arkansas. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pearl B. Sowers
September 26, 1906 - July 15, 2002
Pearl Brown Sowers, 95, Glasgow, died Monday at the Glenview Health Care Center. She was the widow of the late Chess Sowers and a homemaker.
Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Neal cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
H. B. Spillman
October 9, 1911 - December 31, 2004
Henry Buford “H.B.” Spillman, 93, Griderville, died Friday, December 31, 2004, at his residence. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late J.L. and Jewell Maggard Spillman. He was a retired farmer and had worked with the local ASCS office and at Farmer’s Tobacco Warehouse for many years. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church, where he had served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent and was Song Leader for 54 years.
Survivors include his wife, Maymie; three children, Minnie Jewell Pearsall and her husband, Max, of Elizabethtown, James Avery Spillman and his wife, Sue, of Louisville, and Harry Wayne Spillman and his wife, Debra, of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Tom Pearsall, Charles Pearsall and wife, Danna, Gary Spillman and wife, Mayumi, and William Spillman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Samuel Spillman.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Willie Mae Vanzant
January 4, 1905 - April 2, 2001
Willie Mae Vanzant, 96, Griderville, died Monday at the NHC Health Care Center. A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Ela and Annie Everett Parrish and the widow of the late Gary Leon Vanzant. She was a homemaker and a member of the Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include four nephews, James B. Parrish of Florida, Jack Parrish of West Virginia, Mack Parrish of Michigan and Bob Parrish of Louisville; five cousins, Edwin Parrish, Annie Curd, Laura Curd, Mildred Bunch and Roger Saunders; four great nephews; seven great nieces; several great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jess Parrish and Roy Parrish.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Sherman Saltsman
December 8, 1920 - October 27, 2006
Sherman Lewis Saltsman, 85 of Glasgow died Saturday, October, 27, 2006 at the Glenview Health Care Facility. He was the son of the late William Saltsman and Flora Harp Saltsman. He was a retired logger and sawmill operator, a veteran of WWII and a member of the Big Meadow Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Beulah Saltsman; two sons: Jimmy Saltsman and his wife Linda and Lewis Saltsman and his wife Carmen both of Glasgow; nine grandchildren: Timmy Saltsman, Kim Wilson, Tammy Shives, Louie Saltsman, Neelie Saltsman, Samantha Compton, Tony Saltsman, Scottie Saltsman and Brianna Saltsman; five brothers: George Saltsman, Herman Saltsman, Roscoe Saltsman, Hayden Saltsman and William Saltsman; five sisters: Callie Jeffries, Stella Gooden, Dorine Reece, Linnie Fields and Mona Pierce; ten great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Roy Saltsman and Coy Saltsman; one sister: Sylvia Saltsman.
Funeral will be 2:00 P. M. Monday at the Big Meadow Baptist Church with Bro. Junior Shirley officiating. Burial will be in the Big Meadow cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home and after 10:00 A. M. Monday at the Big Meadow Baptist Church. Alternate expressions of sympathy may be made to the Big Meadow cemetery Fund.
Annabel Keys Staples
July 16, 1914 - October 1, 2001
Annabel Dugard Keys Staples, 87, of Glasgow died Monday, October 01, 2001 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. She was a retired seamstress at Handmacher and a member of the First Church of God.
She is survived by her daughter: Jean and her husband E. J. Claywell of Glasgow; Two sons: Joe D. Keys and his wife Jane of Glasgow and Joe E. Keys and his friend Debbie of Louisville. One brother: Elzie Dugard and his wife Bessie of Bowling Green; Seven grandchildren: Sandra Vernon, Joey Keys, JoAnna Lauer, John Marion Keys, Timmy Keys, Scotty Keys and Clifton McCandless; Eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband: Herman Keys; two sons: Herman and James D. “Cobb” Key; one daugher: Jeanette McCandless. Also two grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Deane Lavon Tooley
March 24, 1919 - June 5, 2008
Deane Lavon Tooley, 89, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, in Monrovia, California. A native of Monroe County, she was the daughter of the late Lan Daw and Dona Brown High. She grew up on the family farm in the Forkton Community of Monroe County, graduated as Valedictorian of her class at Tompkinsville High School then she and her husband, Harley, also a Monroe County native, moved to Southern California in 1958.
Deane is survived by 5 children, Jerry Tooley of Arizona, Sharon Smith of Parumph, NV, Harley Tooley of Ontario, CA, Patti Shiber of Monrovia and Eddie Tooley of Glendale, CA; two sisters-in-law, Pauline High and Neva Nell High both of Tompkinsville; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Tooley; two sons, Larry Tooley and Terry Tooley; six brothers, Arvo High, Earl High, Oral High, Oval High, Morris High and Dave High; three grandchildren.
A celebration of Deane’s life will take place 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at the Forest Lawn Glendale’s Little Church of the Flowers. Burial will be in the Forest Lawn Glendale cemetery, Glendale, California.
