Mark Thomas Miller, 49, Glasgow, died Thursday, January 8, 2004, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital . A son of the late Mary Ruth Davis and Earl Thomas Miller, he was owner of Mark Miller Marine in Glasgow and a member of Plum Springs Baptist Church in Bowling Green.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy; one son, Dustin Jones and his fiancée, Stephanie Morrison of Glasgow; one daughter, Andrea Brooks and her husband, Shaun, of Glasgow; one granddaughter, Makayla Brooks; three sisters, Kathy Orange of Bowling Green, Mary Beth Brown of Huntsville, AL, and Judith Bullington of Franklin, KY; his father and mother-in-law, Jessie and Barbara Pickett of Glasgow; three uncles, Harvey Davis of Missouri, Neil Miller and Jerry Miller of Louisville; five aunts, Anne Mimms of Bowling Green, Marietta Cooksey, Shirley Stratton and Ethel Eversole of Louisville and Ann Arnold of Owensboro; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Barren River Animal Welfare Association (BRAWA) or the American Heart Association.
Joseph Anthony "Jaybird" Logsdon
October 10, 1959 - August 19, 2006
Joseph Anthony “Jaybird” Logsdon, 46, Glasgow, died Saturday, August 19, 2006, at the University of Louisville Hospital. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Joseph Andrew and Hattie Pearl Gulley Logsdon. He was a driver for Joe Booth Ready-Mix Concrete Products.
Survivors include one son, Joseph Brandon “Bubba” Logsdon of Glasgow; two brothers, Andy Logsdon and wife, Anna Carol, of Horse Cave, and Herbert “Roe” Logsdon and wife, Carol Jean, of Hiseville; four sisters, Louise “Sissy” Duvall and husband, Earl, of Glasgow, Sara Hornback and husband, Steve, of Munfordville, Ann Smith of Glasgow, formerly of Lexington, and Martha “Dorothy” Thomas and husband, Doug, of Glasgow; one aunt, Jessie Gulley of Indianapolis; 22 nieces and nephews, Joe Duvall, Lori Duvall, Mark Garmon, Jenny Thomas, Kim Harper, Ty Garmon, Heather Garrett, Ashley Garmon, Adam Logsdon, Micah Thompson, Jason Smith, Eric Smith, Holly Thomas, Gavin Smith, Dakota Garmon, Landon Garmon, Destiny Garrett, Paisley Garrett, Joseph England, Lacey Smith, Zachary Harper and Caleb Harper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Jo Logsdon.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the family to help defray expenses.
Bercie King Moon

Bercie King Moon, 86, Mayfield Mill Road, Glasgow, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital.
Born January 25, 1919, in Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Sarah Ella King and widow of the late John H. Moon. She was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Glasgow.
Survivors include a daughter, Sheila E. Moon of Glasgow; two sisters, Eula E. Perkins of Etoile and Lucy Oliver of Burkesville; two brothers, Jessie King and Leon King of Burkesville; two grandchildren, Casey Dewayne Moon of Tennessee and Christina Moon Muse of Glasgow; a great-grandson, Dakota Moon; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Kilby W. Moon; two sisters, Jewell Groce Flowers and Grace Jennings; two brothers, Paul King and Howard King.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2005, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Charles E. Johnson
August 24, 1915 - October 1, 2002
Charles E. Johnson, 87, Glenview Drive, Glasgow, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Harry E. Johnson and Florence Edmunds Johnson and a member of the Church of Christ. He was a dairy farmer and was involved in the livestock trucking business for many years. He was a veteran of WW II.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ella Lewis Culver Johnson; two sons, Danny L. Johnson and Rickey Johnson, and his wife, Teresa, of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Alex Johnson, Danny L. Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Ann, Quentin Johnson and his wife, Kristen, and Holly Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Bryant Johnson, Kelsey Madison Johnson, Ashtyn Grace Hope Johnson and Jadyn Maree Dale Johnson; two brothers, Harry E. Johnson and his wife, Eva, and William R. Johnson; three nieces, Linda Johnson, Annette Johnson Howard and her husband, Tommy, and Faye Johnson. A sister, Pauline Johnson, preceded him in death.

Flora Pierce Neal
August 18, 1913 - January 16, 2002
Flora Cathryn Pierce Neal, 88, Park Avenue, Glasgow, died Wednesday, January 16, at the NHC Health Care Center. A native of Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Lucy Hubbard Pierce, a homemaker and a member of the Big Meadow Baptist Church.
Survivors include four children, Clayton Neal and his wife, Betty Carol of Edmonton, Juanita Smith and her husband, Jackie of Glasgow, Thomas Neal and his wife, Stella of Louisville, and Lois Edwards of Horse Cave; one sister, Cleo Goode of Indiana; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie George Neal, a son, Orval Ray Neal, four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Big Meadow Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
Blanche S. Mayfield
September 3, 1911 - February 15, 2003
Blanche Simmons Mayfield, 91, Glasgow, died Saturday, February 15, 2003, at the Barren County Health Care Center. A daughter of the late Morris and Emma Baldock Simmons, she was a retired seamstress at Ky. Pants Co. and the widow of the late Hardy Mayfield.
Survivors include one brother, Thomas Simmons and his wife, Martha, of Shrewsbury, PA; three nephews, Ted Simmons of Glasgow, Allen Simmons and David Simmons, both of Shrewsbury; one niece, Brenda Simmons White of Lexington; several great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Memorial Graveside Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2003, at the Glasgow Municipal cemetery.
William "Sewell" Matthews
October 2, 1931 - September 25, 2003
William “Sewell” Matthews, 71, Louisville, died Thursday, September 25, 2003, at his home. A native of Temple Hill, KY, he farmed until going to work for Ford Motor Co. in 1968. He retired from Ford after 25 years of service at the Kentucky Truck Plant. He was a member of the Temple Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Jewell Matthews, his mother, Cordlene Crow Matthews, and a brother, Arnold Matthews.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Geneva Clotyel Matthews; one son, Willard R. Matthews and his wife, Melinda; one daughter, Nancy M. Shean and her husband, Geoffrey; three grandchildren, William Randall and Harrison Tate Matthews and Eden Alexandra Shean; four brothers, James, Stanley, Lonnie and Rondall Matthews; four sisters, Elsie Shoopman, Reba Ward, Mary Nell Driver and Lera Noble; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2003, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow with burial in the Poplar Log cemetery at Temple Hill. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Aline Jewell Nichols Jones
December 28, 1922 - March 15, 2005
Aline Jewell Nichols Jones, 82, Glasgow, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at the University of Louisville Hospital. A native of Warren County, she was a daughter of the late Lillian E. Carter and Luther E. Nichols.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Evans and husband, Jim, of Columbia, and Janet Reece of Glasgow; one son, Donnie Scoggins and wife, Bev, of Park City; one sister, Lera Payne of Glasgow; two brothers, Cleo Nichols of Martinsville, IN, and Alton Nichols of Franklin, KY; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Marvin Jones and James Bailey; a daughter, Sheila Carpenter; a brother, Marshall Nichols; and three sisters, Edna Boles, Helen Hannah and Ruth Settles.

Rex E. Pitcock
November 15, 1941 - July 14, 2008
Rex E. Pitcock, 66, of Glasgow, died Monday, July 14, 2008 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Tompie Botts Pitcock and Pauline Dockery Pitcock. He was retired from SKF and a veteran of the 623rd National Guard Reserve.
He is survived by his wife: Gloria Jean Kerney Pitcock; one son: Alan Pitcock “Belinda” of Glasgow; three daughters: Karen Tudor “Roger” of Summer Shade, Leigh Ann Pitcock of Glasgow and Andrea Pitcock “Kenneth Glass” of Glasgow; eleven grandchildren: Wesley Pitcock "Molly Pickett", Cyndal Gulley "Corey", Aaron Pitcock, Weston Pitcock, Justin Tudor, Stephanie Tudor, Logan Pitcock, Hallie Glass, Kenneth Glass III, Matthew Glass and Natalie Glass; one great-grandchildren: Chloe Pitcock; four brother-in-laws: Jerry Kerney “Margie”, Gary Kerney “Bonnie”, Darrell Kerney and Hugh Wilderson; two sister-in-laws: Patty Lane “J.C.” and Fannie Basil “Gene”; several nieces and nephews; a special friend Tina Spears and family.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Betty Wilkerson.
Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Kinslow cemetery. Visitation will be after 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Etta Pickett
August 18, 1926 - February 21, 2006
Etta Ree Pickett, 79, Hiseville, died Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at the Glenview Health Care Center. A native of Metcalfe County, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Fannie Lee Stephenson Moore. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son, Buddy Pickett of Smiths Grove; two daughters, Brenda Joyce Mills of Hiseville, and Sharon Morrison and her husband, Junior, of Griderville; four grandchildren, Jennifer Pickett, Cindy Bushong, Tommy Mills and Aaron Morrison; three great-grandchildren, Cassie Robertson, Cody Bushong and Noah Hawes; one sister, Dossie Parker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wesley Pickett, and one sister, Bertha Allbright.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Pickett cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mattie Holman Norris
April 20, 1918 - September 18, 2008
Mattie Holman Norris, 90, of Glasgow formerly of Cumberland County, died Thursday, September 18, 2008 at NHC. She was the wife of the late Roy Grand Norris and the daughter of the late James Columbus Holman and Perthena "Fean" Ellen Riddle Holman.
She is survived by one son: Billy Gene Norris and his wife Reva of Mammoth Cave; two daughters: Linda Cutliff and her husband David of Glasgow and Lena England and her husband Kenneth of Austin; seven grandchildren: Robert, Rita, Roy, Billy, Donna, Shannon and Brian; ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral will be 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
