Thelma M. Wells Hawkins
August 28, 1917 - January 19, 2009
Thelma M. Wells Hawkins, 91, of Glasgow died Monday, January 19, 2009 at NHC Health Care Facility. She was the daughter of the late Don Wells and Pearl Humphrey Wells. She was a member of the Rolling Hills Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: Bobby Hawkins and his wife Careen of Palmyra, IN., Harold Hawkins of Glasgow, Helen Plumlee and her husband Carlos of Glasgow, Ralph Hawkins and his wife Cathy, Roger Hawkins of Glasgow and Becky Davidson and her husband Gary; ten grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; three great- great- grandchildren; four brothers: Henry Wells of IN, James Wells of Glasgow, Howard Wells of Glasgow and Ray Wells of Glasgow; one sister: Marie Petrie of IN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Hawkins; one son: Phillip Hawkins; one daughter: Annie Pearl Hawkins; one brother: Stanley Wells; one sister: Aline Elmore.
Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Rolling Hills Baptist Church with Bro. Wayne Wilson, Bro. Wayne Well and Bro. Joseph Wyatt officiating. Burial will be in the Bon Ayr cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
James Edward Driver
March 20, 1936 - December 27, 2002
James Edward Driver, 66, Joe Traylor Avenue, Glasgow, died Friday, December 27, 2002, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Born March 20, 1936 in Louisville, he was a son of the late Clem “Bereck” Driver and Frances “Icy” Bush Driver. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Pleasant Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Norma Jean Young Driver; one son, Robert Leon Driver and his wife, Joyce, of Glasgow; eight daughters, Brenda Wood and husband, Ricky, of Glasgow, Marie Paul and husband, Mickey, of Hart County, Judy Woods and husband, William, of Glasgow, Rocky Rice and husband, Howard, of Hart County, Doris Martin and husband, Charles, of Glasgow, Deloris Short of Glasgow, Beverly Sue Nuckols of Glasgow, Ann Doakes and husband, Kenneth, of Glasgow; four brothers, Otis Driver of Cave City, Junior Driver of Hiseville, Johnny Driver of Louisville and Eddie Driver of Hart County; three sisters, Louise Franklin of Hodgenville, Edna Curry of Horse Cave and Mattie Austin of Smiths Grove; five sisters- in- law, Christine Young, Christine Driver, Georgia Mae Driver, Pattie Driver and Essey Driver; three brothers- in- law, Paul Young, Ollie Franklin and Leo Austin; 29 grandchildren; 9 great- grandchildren; 5 step- grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Haskins; two sons, James Driver, Jr. and R.J. Driver; three brothers, Rosco Wilson, William Driver and Morgan Driver.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Pleasant Union Baptist Church with burial in the Pleasant Union cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:00 p.m. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
Roger Duke
July 21, 1935 - January 19, 2009
Roger Duke, 73, Edmonton, died Monday, January 19, 2009, at the NHC Health Care Center. A native of Metcalfe County, he was a son of the late Roberta Runyon and John Fred Duke and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include one brother, Charles Nelson Duke and his wife, Marie, of Louisville; one sister, Maxine Croft and her husband, George, of Glasgow; one nephew, Dean Duke; three nieces, Patty Rawlings, Brenda Cook and Linda McCoy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Katherine Duke and two brothers, Ralph Duke and Harold Duke.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2009, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Kathleen Allen Hunter
August 5, 1953 - October 26, 2001
Kathleen Allen Hunter, 48, Cave City, died Friday at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Dayton, Ohio, she was a daughter of Ruth Caulley Allen of Horse Cave and the late Richard Allen. She was a clerk in the business office of the T. J. Samson Community Hospital with 27 years of service.
Other than her mother, survivors include her husband, Garry Hunter of Cave City; one sister, Debbie Lewis and her husband, Billy of Horse Cave; one nephew, Adam Rogers; her father- in- law, Veachel Hunter of Cave City; and numerous cousins and close friends.
Private funeral services will be held. Friends may call from 3- 9 p.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
Wesley David Garmon
October 5, 1950 - June 28, 2005
Wesley David Garmon, 54, Austin, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Willie Jo Byrd Garmon. He was a farmer, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his wife, Lora J. Garmon; two sons, Stacey D. Garmon and Charlie Lee Garmon both of Austin; six brothers, Maxie Garmon, Beaver (B.J.) Garmon, Gary Garmon, Dennis Garmon, Ronnie Garmon and Michael Garmon all of Hiseville; three sisters, Margie Russell of Russell Springs, Carol Jean Logsdon of Hiseville and Peggy Moore of Columbia; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Richard Garmon; one brother, Billy Garmon; and one sister, Brenda Jo Garmon.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2005, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Big Meadow cemetery. Peggy Hanson
June 14, 1928 - May 25, 2004
Peggy June Hanson, 75, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green . A daughter of the late C. B. and Eunice Sisco, she was a member of the Hiseville Baptist Church .
Survivors include a son, Steve Hanson and his wife Marsha of Glasgow, and a daughter, Debbie Smith and her husband Jerry of Louisville; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Hanson, Holli Hanson, Erin Cloyd, Chris Lile and wife Bridgette and Brian Smith; great- grandchildren, Hannah Lile and Andrew Lile; a sister, Ruth Martin Gray and her husband Kenneth of Glasgow; an aunt, Nell Ferguson of Edmonton.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Hanson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Locust Grove cemetery . Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Beulah Kelsey Furlong
October 16, 1915 - April 27, 2008
Beulah Kelsey Furlong, 92, of Glasgow, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Glenview Health Care Center. Mrs. Furlong was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late Myrton and Dartha Hughes Kelsey. She was the widow of the late Woodard Furlong. She was a homemaker, foster parent and worked in the Foster Grandparent Program. She was a member of the Samson Street Church of God.
She is survived by one daughter: Burdene Williams, three sons: David Brown (Pam) of Glasgow, Chester Stiles of Glasgow and Ernest Turner of Texas; eight grandchildren, Barry Eaton (Beverly), Baretta Shirley (Eutre), Jackie Cash (Greg), Joni Poynter (Choppy), ricky Eaton, Kim Dobbs, Matthew Stiles and Tiffany Stiles. She is also survived by several great and great- great grandchildren, a nephew and several nieces.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter Vera Eaton, three sons: Leroy Stiles, J. B. Turner, Bill Brown and a son- in- law Delbert Williams. Also two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Kinslow officiating. Burial will be in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 2:00 P.M. Frankie Jewell “Bank” Huff, 42, Grandview Avenue, Glasgow, died Wednesday at her residence. She was a daughter of the late Eunice Eva Edna Dailey and Hershel Wright and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Rufus Earl Huff; two sons, Rufus E. Huff, Jr. and Taylor Huff both of Glasgow; two daughters, Denna Mae Huff and Linda Cheyenne Dunn of Glasgow; a brother, Hershel Jr. Wright of Glasgow; five sisters, Reba Jessie, Sarah Clark and Judy Young of Glasgow, Barbara Abston of Edmonton and Penny Counts of Florida; eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William Joe Huff; 1 grandchild and two sisters, Margie Dean Bridges and Diane Thomas

Maxie H. Hodges
February 25, 1931 - May 7, 2003
Maxie H. Hodges, 72, Summer Shade, died Wednesday at the T. J. Community Hospital. A native of Metcalfe County, he was a son of the late John Ora and Lola Mae Birge Hodges. He was a retired Platoon Sergeant with the United States Army, after 30 years of service, and a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah L. Howerter or Glasgow and Lisa of South Carolina; six grandchildren, including Michelle Johnson of Glasgow; one great- grandson, Joshua Johnson of Glasgow; two brothers, James H. Hodges of Glasgow and John W. Hodges of Indiana; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the White cemetery in Monroe County. Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will provide military honors. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Oleta F. Dunford

Oleta Fern Dunford, 85, Glasgow, died Monday, July 09, 2007, at her residence. A native of Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Estella Weatherly Dirickson and a homemaker.
Survivors include five sons, Arthur Lee Dunford, Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Alabama, Charles David Dunford and wife, Linda, of Michigan, Oscar John Dunford and wife, Carolyn, of Greensburg, Robert Douglas Dunford and wife, Donna, of Michigan, and Timothy Alan Dunford and wife, Sherrie, of Glasgow; 14 grandchildren, David, Laurie, Charles, Timothy, Krista, Jenny, Marie, Amanda, Johnnie, Krystle, Stephanie, Arthur III, Oscar and Alex; two sisters, Mary Sells and Freda Bowley of Indiana; 20 great- grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lee Dunford, Sr.

Joe Grant Hardin
August 16, 1943 - May 21, 2004
Joe Grant Hardin, 60, Old Munfordville Road, Cave City, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville . A native of Barren County, he was the son of Nora Alice Wheeler Hardin of Glasgow and the late Rupert Alton Hardin. He was a retired electrician at Ford Motor Co. in Louisville, a member of the United Auto Workers, a member of Local 369 of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and a member of the East Main Methodist Church .
Along with his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sharon; one daughter, Teresa Biller of Louisville; one son, Joe Hardin of Louisville; two grandchildren, Lacey Biller and John Thomas Biller; one brother, Larry W. Hardin of Nobob; four sisters, Betty Claywell of Nobob, Patty Schroerlucke of Louisville, Judy Workman of Louisville and Connie Hart of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Miranda Hardin and one sister, Jerry Sue Hardin.
