Flora Mae Edmunds

September 16, 1919 - March 8, 2005

Flora Mae Edmunds, 85, Beckton, died Tuesday, March 08, 2005, at the Glasgow State Nursing Facility. The Barren County native was a daughter of the late Leonard and Maude Emerson Edmunds, a homemaker and a member of the Beckton Church of Christ.

Survivors include two brothers, Thomas Edmunds and wife, Ruth, and John Edmunds and wife, Naomi, all of Beckton; one sister, Mildred Buckingham and husband, Cecil, of Warren County; two sisters- in- law, Virginia Edmunds and Margaret Edmunds of Glasgow; one brother- in- law, Erbie Garrett of Hodgenville; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betsy Garrett and Byrd Ackerson and husband, Ishmael; and four brothers, Walter Edmunds, Charles Edmunds, Judson Edmunds and Henry Donald Edmunds.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Hal Franklin Hoover

December 27, 1940 - June 2, 2001

Hal Franklin Hoover, 60, of Glasgow died Friday, June 2, 2001 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was the son of Tula Matthews Peterson and the late Gene Franklin Hoover. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his mother Tula Matthews Peterson of Glasgow.

Funeral service will be 10:30 A. M. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Friends may call from 5- 9 P. M. Sunday at the funeral home.

J. C. Hatcher

09/21/1913 - 01/10/2001

J.C. Hatcher, 87, Joan Drive, Glasgow, died suddenly Wednesday at his residence. Mr. Hatcher, born September 21, 1913 in the Hiseville Community of Barren County, was the son of Jesse L. Hatcher and Dorothy Cook Hatcher. As a teenager, he helped his father, who was an undertaker in Hiseville until 1929 at which time the family moved to Glasgow. After moving to Glasgow, Mr. Hatcher and his father worked for F. P. Williams Furniture and Undertaker until 1943, at which time they purchased the undertaking business from Mr. Williams and opened the Hatcher Funeral Home. Mr. Hatcher received his funeral director license in 1945. He continued in the funeral business with his parents and his sister, Madeline Hatcher Saddler and her husband, Harry G. Saddler, all of whom have preceded him in death. J.C. served as president of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, Inc., he was a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church and the Allen Lodge #24 F. & A.M. He and his wife, Tressie, had just recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on December 23.

Survivors include his wife, Tressie Ree Britt Hatcher; one son, Joseph Carroll Hatcher and his wife, Rosemary of Louisville; three grandsons, Jim Hatcher and his wife, Julie, Bob Hatcher and his wife, Bridget, and Chris Hatcher and his wife, Tamara; five grandchildren, Craig, Rachel, Hannah, Ryan and Haylee.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

John W. Hodges

September 2, 1919 - January 11, 2004

John W. Hodges, 84, of Colfax, IN, formerly of Glasgow died Sunday, January 11, 2004 at his residence. He was the son of the late John Ora and Lola Birge Hodges. He was a member of the American Legion and the DAV. He was a US Army Veteran having served 1941- 1945 during WWII.

He is survived by his wife Gladys Alyne Perkins Hodges; two sons: John Russell Hodges of Darlington, IN and Wesley Hodges of Rossville, IN; six daughters: Judy Hodges of Lafayette, IN, Lucy Cape of Columbia, KY, Lera Pritchard of Attica, IN, Brenda Imes of Cincinnati, OH, Pam Whiteman of Frankfort, IN and Deborah Ashlock of Frankfort, IN; eleven grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren; one brother: James H. Hodges of Glasgow. preceded in death by three children, one grandchild seven brothers and four sisters.

Funeral will be 10:00 A. M. Thursday, January 15, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Branden Gene Huff

September 5, 1986 - January 19, 2009

Branden Gene Huff, 22, Glasgow, died Monday, January 19, 2009, at the Logan Memorial Hospital. He was a self- employed landscaper and a member of the Slick Rock Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Tiffany Huff; his father, Louie Gene Huff Clark and step- father, Barry Clark; his mother, Tammy Hampton; one sister, Takeisha Lynn Arvizu Omega Georga and her husband, Paul Arvizu; two step- children, Lillianna Whitlow and Christian Wood; one half- sister, Kimberly Mathews; one half brother, Timmy Hudgens; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Wanda Hudgins; several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rufus and Nellie Huff.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2009, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Russell M. Drake, Jr.

April 23, 1964 - May 15, 2004

Memorial Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004, at the Good Springs cemetery in Mammoth Cave. Military Honors will be provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV.

Russell M. “Rusty” Drake, Jr., 40, Berry Store Road, Glasgow, died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at his residence. A native of Winchester, Virginia, he was a son of Mary Lee Baker Jones of Winchester and the late Russell M. Drake. He was fleet manager and park mechanic at Mammoth Cave National Park . He was an avid Boy Scout Leader, serving as Assistant Scout Master of Troop 605, a member of the Handyman’s Club, a Gulf War Veteran and a member of the Temple Hill Baptist Church .

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Jean Drake; one son, Alexander Glen Drake at home; his mother, Mary Lee Jones of Virginia; two brothers, Dennis Horn of Virginia and Michael Drake of Florida; one sister, Kellie Drake of Kansas; his step- mother, Edna Drake of Belfry, KY.; several nieces and nephews.

Rusty donated his body to Science Care of Phoenix, AZ. Memorial Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2004, at the Mammoth Cave National Park Amphitheater under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Boy Scout Troop 605 or to the National Park Service Employee Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.

Annie Willis Elmore

February 2, 1931 - January 11, 2007

Annie Willis Elmore, 75 of Lucas died Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late William Jeff Elmore and Laura Lottie Woodcock Elmore. She was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

She is survived by three nieces: Annetta Cook of Lucas, Lauraetta Norris of Lucas and Laura Nunn of Louisville; three nephews: Charles and Len Norris of Lucas and William Chandler of Bowling Green; one great niece: Melissa Roach of Lucas; four great nephews: Ryan Nunn, David, Tim and Casey Elmore of Louisville. A host of friends from Louisville, KY.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one brother: Hulan Elmore, two sisters: Mary Elizabeth Norris and Euna Chandler; one nephew: James Allen Elmore; and a special friend Stan Turner.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Mt. Olivet cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00 A. M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Leon Hanson

October 1, 1924 - July 29, 2003

Leon Hanson, 78, Hiseville, died Tuesday at the University of Louisville Hospital. A son of the late Ethel Elizabeth Cutliff and Arthur Earl Hanson, he was a retired farmer, a member of the Hiseville Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Before moving to the Hiseville area, he was an active farmer on land which is now a part of Mammoth Cave National Park.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy; one son, Steve Hanson and his wife, Marsha, of Glasgow; one daughter, Debbie Smith and her husband, Jerry, of Louisville; five grandchildren, Stephanie Hanson, Holli Hanson, Erin Simpson, Chris Lile and wife, Bridgette, and Brian Smith; two great- grandchildren, Hannah Lile and Andrew Lile; one brother, Dick Hanson of Cave City; three sisters, Angie Gibbons of Shepherdsville, Doretha Bensenhaver and husband, Charles, of Louisville, Alberta Lafferty of Glasgow; a sister- in- law, Ruth Martin Gray and husband, Kenneth, of Glasgow; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, including Charles Lewis Hanson, Olin Hanson and Frances Hanson; and one sister- in- law, Runell Broady and husband, Bronston.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Locust Grove cemetery at Mammoth Cave. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Betty Lynn Houchens

March 26, 1934 - October 1, 2006

Betty Ann Lynn Houchens, 72, Glasgow, died Sunday, October 01, 2006, at her residence. She was a Licensed Land Surveyor, the second lady ever to be licensed as such in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She had worked for more than 50 years at Pride Engineering in Glasgow and was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Jeff Houchens of Glasgow; one sister, Evelyn Smith of Bowling Green; three nieces, Nikki Clements of Wisconsin, Sherry Taylor of Bowling Green and Susan Vickers of Florida; several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Houchens; her mother, Brauner Ryan; and a sister, Emogene Alexander.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Cecil officiating. Burial will be in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Janie Edwards

November 28, 1923 - February 14, 2007

Janie Edwards, 83 of Hiseville died Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Mack Center and Effie Hale Center and a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church.

She is survived by five children: Alex Edwards and Wife Virginia of Hiseville, Jim Edwards of Hiseville, Richard Edwards and wife Ann of Somerset, KY, Bill Edwards and wife Peggy of Mt. Washington and Judy Riordan of Glasgow; two stepchildren: Madeline DeSalvo of New Jersey and Kenny Edwards of IN; nineteen grandchildren: Frankie, Sarah, Mark, Lynn, Stephen, Mike, Donna, Chris, Cheri, Missy, Roger, Bryan, Matt, Carol Ann, Rhonda, Becky, Larry, Ashley and Jonathan; forty four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Edwards; four sons: Raymond, Roger, Larry and Tom; one daughter: Jane Ellen Edwards; one granddaughter: Tammy Edwards three stepchildren: Irene Morrison, James Edwards and Agnes March.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Rock Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Russell Hatcher officiating. Visitation will be after 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home and after 9:00 A. M. Saturday at the Rock Springs Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Edwards Family cemetery.

Judy Carol Emmitt

September 2, 1957 - October 28, 2001

Judy Carol Emmitt, 44, Tompkinsville Road, Glasgow, died Sunday at her residence. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of Hazel Parker Robinson of Glasgow and the late Carroll Finley Parker. She was a homemaker.

Other survivors include her husband, Jackie Emmitt; four children, Kent Parker, Joseph Parker, Kate Emmitt and Andy Emmitt all of Glasgow; one grandchild, Haley Francis Parker; one sister, Cindy Smith of Glasgow; one brother, John Davis of Glasgow; three step- children, John, Daryl and Jamie Emmitt all of Glasgow; an aunt, Bertha Trulock of Pekin, Ill.; an uncle, Robert Jolly of Hiseville; a special friend, Leo Harvey; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Union # 2 cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
