Myrtle Lee Coffey
January 28, 1907 - August 27, 2002
Myrtle Lee Coffey, 95, North Morgan Street, Glasgow, died Tuesday, August 27, 2002, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A daughter of the late Oren and Lora Broady, she was a retired seamstress at Kentucky Pants Co.
Survivors include one grandson, Barry R. Coffey and his wife, Tammy, of Glasgow; two great-grandchildren, Stephanie Coffey and Andrew Coffey of Glasgow; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Coffey Pickett of Glasgow; three step-grandchildren, Kathy Miller and Beth Reid of Glasgow and Gina Young of Mt. Juliet, TN; two nephews, Stanley Polson and his wife, Dorris, of Glasgow, Howard Polson and his wife, Peggie, of Scottsville; five step-great grandchildren; 8 great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, G. R. Coffey; a sister, Annie Polson; and a nephew, Wayne Polson.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2002, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Marjorie Hammer Coleman
November 22, 1912 - March 1, 2002
Marjorie Hammer Coleman, 89, Crestview Drive, Paducah, and formerly of Glasgow, died Friday, March 1, 2002, at the Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah. She was the daughter of the late Wesley and Lucy Downing Hammer. She and her late husband, Clay Reid Coleman, owned and operated the Coleman Dairy in Glasgow for many years and also worked for the Tobacco Market in Glasgow, Georgia and North Carolina. She was a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church for 80 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorathy Simmons and her husband, Bobby, of Paducah; One Granddaughter, Nancy Simmons Ragland and her husband, Rick, of Paducah; two great-grandchildren, Wesley Clay Ragland and Rea Ann Ragland both of Paducah.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 4, 2002, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 11:00 A. M. Monday.
Christine Colliver
October 17, 1918 - July 3, 2004
Christine Barlow Colliver, 85, Goodnight, died Saturday, July 03, 2004, at the NHC Health Care Center. A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Ethel Roberts and Harmon Howard Barlow, Sr. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and had served in various positions. She was an extension agent for home economics, a home economist, a teacher and a homemaker. She was a member of the Jefferson Homemakers Club, the Gideons International Auxiliary and the Salem Baptist Church .
Survivors include two sons, John Howard Colliver and his wife, Lois, of Louisville, and Donald Gayle Colliver and his wife, Becky, of Nicholasville; four grandchildren, Todd Colliver of Louisville, Sara Colliver of Nashville, Jeremy Colliver and his wife, Laura, of Morehead, and Jason Colliver of Nicholasville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jewell Colliver and one brother, Harmon Barlow.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Jewell B. Colliver

Jewell B. Colliver, 79, Salem Church Road, Cave City, died Monday, February 19, 2001, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Bath County, he was the son of the late John B. Colliver and Mary L. Anderson Colliver. After his graduation from the University of Kentucky, he served with the Signal Corps of the United States Army in the Pacific Theater during WW II.
In 1946, Mr. Colliver married
Christine Barlow of Cave City. He began his teaching career in the Barren County School System that same year and taught Vocational Agriculture for 39 years. Many honors have been bestowed upon Jewell Colliver for his personal and professional excellence.
Mr. Colliver was a member of Salem Baptist Church, where he served for 17 years as Sunday School Superintendent and presently as Deacon and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was past director of the Park City State Bank and was a present director of South Central Bank.
He helped organize and served as chairman of the Joint City-County Planning Commission of Barren County for 24 years. He had been a member of the Conservation District Board for 48 years, during which he served both in the capacity of Vice Chairman and Chairman. He was a former President of the Kentucky Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association, a member of the Park City Lions Club for 50 years and a member of Gideons International.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Barlow Colliver; two sons, John H. Colliver and his wife, Lois of Louisville, and Donald G. Colliver and his wife, Rebecca of Nicholasville; four grandchildren, Todd and Sara Colliver of Louisville, Jeremy and Jason Colliver of Nicholasville; two sisters, Beulah Jones and her husband, Frank, and Elizabeth Rice and her husband, Ed all of Owingsville, Ky.; one brother, Burl Colliver of Lynchburg, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Kenneth Ray Colter
March 2, 1933 - December 3, 2004
Kenneth Ray Colter, 71, of Glasgow, died Friday, December 03, 2004 at this residence. He was the son of the late Jessie Thomas Colter and Renie Capps Colter and a heavy equipment operator for the City of Glasgow.
He is survived by his wife Betty Moran Colter; Three sons: Timothy G. Colter of Glasgow, Ricky Colter and his wife Jana of Cincinnati, Ohio and Jeffery Neil Colter of Glasgow; one daughter: Marita Fields McKinney and her husband Paul S. of Glasgow; one brother: Cecil Colter of Glasgow; three sisters: Jessee Elizabeth Boles of Bowling Green, Molly Martin of Indianapolis, Indiana and Ruby Crawford of Orgen; six grandchildren: Chris Fields, Matt Fields, Heather McKinney, Kelly McKinney, Hunter McKinney and EB McKinney.
He was preceded in death by one brother William Thomas Colter.
Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 12 noon on Sunday at the funeral home.
Joan Compton
February 10, 1941 - April 12, 2006
Joan Lohden Compton, 65, Cave City, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at the NHC Health Care Center. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Mary Lee Staples Groce and Morris Lohden. She was a homemaker, an avid craftsperson and cook and a member of the Coral Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Marcia Johnson and husband, Ronnie, and Connie Brummett and husband, Jerry, all of Glasgow, Patricia (Cricket) Bingham and husband, Marty, of Cave City; five grandchildren, Amanda Bartley and husband, Nathan, Chris Oakes and wife, Shandi, Tabatha Onsar and husband, Sean, and Kimberly Mitchell and husband, Josh, all of Glasgow, Dana Clark and husband, Timmy, of Cave City; two great-grandchildren, Gavin Bartley and Carson Oakes both of Glasgow; one sister, Nelda Wooten and husband, Sammy, of Sonora; one brother, Wayne Lohden and wife, Jessica, of Glasgow.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Junior Compton.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Ruth Compton
February 15, 1927 - May 19, 2006
Amanda Ruth Compton, 79, Glasgow, died Friday, May 19, 2006, at the NHC Health Care Center. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Grace Word and Benjamin Ray Smith. She was a former employee of Handmacher Fashions and retired from Tyson Bearing in Glasgow. She was a member of the Temple Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Billy Compton of Glasgow; two grandsons, Adam Compton and wife, Nicole, and Benjamin Compton of Bowling Green; three great-grandchildren, Anni Compton, Aiden Compton and Presley Compton; three sisters, Marie Jenkins of Indianapolis, Ann Bunch and husband, Buford, and Joyce Coulter and husband, Junior, of Glasgow; three brothers, John David Smith and wife, Ruby Nell, of Glasgow, Robert Smith and wife, Etta Mae, and Lennie Ray Smith and wife, Dicie, of Indiana; a sister-in-law, Betty Jo Smith of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John William Compton, Sr.; one brother, George B. Smith; one sister, Margaret Helen Smith; one sister-in-law, Mildred Smith; and one brother-in-law, Thomas Howard Jenkins.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
John R. "Jay" Coomer
April 4, 1929 - April 24, 2005
John R. “Jay” Coomer, 76, Cave City, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at the Hart County Health Care Center. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Charlie R. and Hazel F. Edwards Coomer, a retired employee of General Motors and a member of the Allen Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lynn; one step-son, Steve Swanner of Cave City; four nephews, Doug Coomer of Florence, Keith Coomer and Kevin Coomer of Knob Lick and Jim Coomer of Bowling Green; one niece, Beth Oyler of Bowling Green; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Coomer of Cave City and Barbara Coomer of Knob Lick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Coomer, Terrill Coomer and Wendell Coomer.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Jeffries cemetery. Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Webb W. "Sonny" Coop
March 31, 1938 - April 8, 2007
Webb W. “Sonny” Coop, 69, Park City, died Sunday, April 8, 2007. A son of the late Letha Stinson and Add Coop, Sr., he was a self employed merchant and an avid songwriter.
Survivors include three daughters, Cilla Faye Lee of Byrdstown, TN., Fonnita Montano and Donnita Rushton both of Anderson, IN.; four grandchildren, Ahsani Montano, Jaleon Munger, Victor Rushton and James Southard; two brothers, Buddy Coop and Add Coop, Jr. both of Toledo, OH.; two sisters, Myrtle Moore of Bon Ayr, and Dorothy Baum of Toledo; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild, John Southard and one sister, Priscilla Groll.
The family chose cremation. There will be no public visitation or services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
A. G. Cox
December 26, 1933 - February 15, 2006
Allen “A.G.” Cox, 72, Glasgow, died Wednesday, February 15, 2006, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Leonard and Lucille Pedigo Cox. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and United States Army veteran, having served in Germany.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; six daughters, Elaine Manion and husband, Benny, Lana Hatcher and husband, Lannie, Teri Robertson, Tresia Sexton and husband, Garry, and Angela Foster and husband, Brent, all of Glasgow, Melissa Bowman and husband, James, of Cookeville, TN; one son, Allen Cox, Jr. of Glasgow; one brother, Philip Cox and wife, Betty, of Glasgow; one sister, Nelda Albany, of Glasgow; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Natalie A. Cox.
Graveside services will be held 12:30 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2006, at the Neal’s Chapel cemetery under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. There will be no public visitation.
Magdolyne Cox
October 27, 1923 - February 5, 2004
Magdolyne Cox, 80, Central Avenue, Glasgow, died Thursday, February 05, 2004, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital . A daughter of the late Euna and Nelia Froedge Young, she was a retired teacher with Metcalfe County Schools and a member of the Winfrey Chapel Methodist Church .
Survivors include one brother, Donald Young and his wife, Ann, of Edmonton ; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Cox; three sisters, Mattie Word, Myrtle Brown and Mary Kirgan; and two brothers, Jack Young and Nelson Young.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Neals Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
