Hardin "KY" Burford
1920 - 2002
Hardin "Ky" Burford, 80, died Monday at home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born in Barren County, KY, he was a quality control inspector with Magnavox Corporation for 38 years and retired in 1988. He was past commandore and member of the American Legion Post #499, a member of the V.F.W. # 857 and Eagles #3512.
Survivors include his son, Daniel L. Burford of Fort Wayne; one brother, Alwin Burford of Bowling Green, KY; two sisters, Seva Burford and Anna Burford, both of Murfeesboro, TN; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV, will be in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday and after 10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Greater Fort Wayne Unit, 2420 N. Chuck Burris
April 17, 1924 - February 17, 2005
Charles Elva “Chuck” Burris II, 80, long time resident of Glasgow, died Thursday, February 17, 2005, at VA Medical Center in Cincinnati. A native of Campbell County, he was a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, a Dale Carnegie instructor, a member of TPA and Glasgow Rotary Club. He was a veteran of WWII, having served with the submarine service of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Lou Burris; one son, Jeff Burris and his wife, Janet; two daughters, Cathleen Ruscher and her husband, Mike, and Barbara Buemi-Webster and her husband, Alan; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Molly Lou Burris.
The body will be cremated. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2005, at the Faith United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. The family will greet friends after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Faith United Methodist Church, the Alzheimer’s Association, or a favorite charity.
Nada Madgelene “Madge” Bush
March 8, 1936 - May 15, 2006
Nada Madgelene “Madge” Bush, 70, of Glasgow died Monday, May 15, 2006 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Gerlie Brooks and Rhoda Ellen Vincent Brooks.
She is survived by eight children: Mary Ashley and her husband Ray of Hardyville, Rita Horton and her husband James of Hardyville, Ruthie Moore and her husband Melvin of Glasgow, Allen Bush and his wife Angela of Glasgow, Sherry Bush of Glasgow, Sharon Sturgeon of Cave City, Timmy Bush and his wife Tracy of Glasgow and Jeanette Bush of Glasgow; Twenty Two grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; five brothers: Leon Brooks of Battletown, Charles Brooks of Louisville, Coy Brooks of Vine Grove, Larry Brooks of Franklin and Gerald Brooks of Edmonton.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Roger Bush; one brother Wilmer Brooks and her granddaughter Crystal Higgs.
Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Northtown cemetery in Hart County. Visitation will be after 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Nancy B. Bush
September 8, 1934 - November 3, 2007
Nancy Bertram Bush, 73, Glasgow, died Saturday, November 3, 2007, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. She was born September 8, 1934 to Haskell and Mercedes Bertram. Mrs. Bush was a retired teacher of the Glasgow Independent School System. After her retirement, she was an active volunteer at the Museum of the Barrens and enjoyed many countless hours researching family history. A life-long member of the First Christian Church of Glasgow, she was actively involved in the church choir and was a member of the Golden Rule Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Reid Bush; five children, Sue (Joe) Muse, Mike (Karen) Bush, and Kay Bush all of Glasgow, Steve (Wendy) Bush of Rineyville, and Lesley (Todd) Cagle of Franklin; nine grandchildren, Brian Muse, Ashley (Derek) Moore, Drew Tuck, Seth Bush, Abby Tuck, Jacob Bush, Allyson Spears, Patrick Spears and Megan Spears; two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Lindsey Moore; one brother, Hack (Lillian) Bertram of Glasgow; three sisters-in-law, Mary Bush of Glasgow, Reba Bush of Franklin and Velma Bush of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at the First Christian Church with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Museum of the Barrens or the First Christian Church.
Richard Earl Bushong
November 18, 1932 - August 12, 2002
Richard Earl Bushong, 69, Glasgow, died Monday at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late John and Hagar Smith Bushong, a farmer and a member of the Coral Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nina Ruth; one son, Tim Bushong and his wife, Sarah, of Bowling Green; three daughters, Brenda Mills and her husband, Paul, of Glasgow, Sharon Forbis and her husband, Roger, of Cave City, and Teresa Woodcock and her husband, Roy, of Glasgow; five grandchildren, Keith Mills, Jeremy and Ashley Forbis, Nathan Woodcock and Taylor Bushong; two brothers, Raymond Bushong of Glasgow and John Depp Bushong of Summer Shade; five sisters, Evelyn Erwin of Indiana, Anna McDonald, Geneva Bushong and Linda Morgan all of Glasgow, Betty Reece of Horse Cave; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and James Bushong.

Bryan Butler
May 7, 1974 - January 3, 2006
Bryan Dexter Butler, 31, Glasgow, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006, in Woodbury, TN. A native of Albany, he was a factory worker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son, Cody Bryan Butler of Summer Shade; his fiancée, Karen White; his parents, Alvin “Dee” and Jean Butler of Glasgow; one sister, Jeannie Elizabeth Byrd and her husband, Nathan, of Knob Lick; two nephews, Dawson Byrd and George Byrd; one niece, Lucy Byrd; paternal grandmother, Lucille Butler of Portland, IN; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Mary Reum and his paternal grandfather, George Butler.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the Cartwright cemetery in Albany. Visitation will be after 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Darrell Wayne Butler, Sr.

Darrell Wayne Butler, Sr., 54, Bowling Green, died Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. A native of Warren County, he was a son of the late Roy and Edna Butler and a former construction worker.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; four sons, Russell Moore and Randy Moore of Bowling Green, Darrell Butler, Jr. of Frankfort, Stuart Butler of Ft. Hood, TX; three daughters, Lou Ann Moore of Bowling Green, Lisa Duvall of Mississippi, Katie Butler of Franklin; one brother, Terry Butler of Bowling green; three sisters, Pam Richmond and Carolyn Bunch of Bowling Green, Martha Groce of Edmonson County; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2008, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday at the Fairview cemetery in Bowling Green. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Marie J. Button, 80, Old Bowling Green Road, Glasgow, died Wednesday, February 04, 2004, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital . A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Yancey and Anna Jewell Button, a poultry producer for many years and a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church .
Survivors include several cousins, including Ida Frank Bratton of Louisville, and her caregivers, with whom she lived, John and Hallie Phillips.

Alvin Eugene Bybee

Alvin Eugene Bybee, 40, formerly of Glasgow, died Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at his residence in Indianapolis . He was a shipping/receiving clerk at Group Athletica in Indianapolis and a former employee of Lord’s in Bowling Green . He was a member of the Pleasant Oak Ridge Baptist Church .
Survivors include his parents, Thomas and Marjorie Wilson Bybee of Glasgow ; two daughters, Kandice Bybee of Glasgow and Shanlyn Bybee of Florida ; two brothers, Nathan Bybee and Larry Bybee of Glasgow ; three sisters, Dorothy Gilmore and Phyllis McNeil of Indianapolis and Sandra Lewis of Bowling Green ; one aunt, Velma Turner of Columbus, Ohio ; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2004 at the Pleasant Oak Ridge Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 5, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
Emma Bybee
July 14, 1921 - February 18, 2003
Emma Louise Wilson Bybee, 81, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at the Barren County Health Care Center. A native of Breckenridge County, she was a daughter of the late Granville and Lula Kessinger Wilson and widow of the late John C. Bybee
Emma was a 1940 graduate of Breckenridge County High School and obtained her B.S. degree from Western Kentucky University and a masters degree from the University of Wisconsin. She taught school in Breckenridge County from 1941-42; worked at the Naval Ordinance Plant in Evansville from 1942-43; and served as a WAVE in the United States Navy from 1944-1945. From 1951-1961, she was employed by the University of Kentucky where she was supervisor of Home Demonstration Agents for eastern Kentucky. From 1962-1991, she was employed by the Farmers Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation as a home economist. She retired in 1991.
Mrs. Bybee was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Glasgow, where she had also served on the board. She was a charter member and a past president of Altrusa International; a 4-H Club Director for Barren County; a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star; member of American Home Economic Association; a past president of Kentucky Home Economists in Business Association; member and a past president of Womens Electrical Roundtable; member of Kentucky Nutritional Council; member and a past officer in AARP; listed in Who’s Who of American Women; listed in The Personalities of the South; A Kentucky Colonel; and active in many other local organizations.
Survivors include one brother, Hubert Wilson of Hardinsburg, KY; eight nieces, Ruth Schickinger and Betty McCarty of Louisville, Jean Meriweather of Olaton, Anna Francis Stinnett and Helen Fentress of Hardinsburg, Wanda Reeves of Elizabethtown, Ruth Ann Doty of White Plains and Peggy White of Harned; three nephews, Teddy Allen Morris and Phillip H. Morris of Evansville, James G. Buhel of Leitchfield; several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Nennie Ball and Annamae Buhel of Hardinsburg and Lorena Morris of Evansville.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2003, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The public is invited to attend Eastern Star services at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the First United Methodist Church of Glasgow.

Mr. Thomas David Bybee son of Garnett and Bessie Short Bybee was born Oct. 26, 1914, he was called to rest on January 23, 2009 at the age of 94 years and 2 months. He was a farmer and Deacon and member of the Pleasant Union Baptist Church in Glasgow, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sons, Herman Armstrong, Nathaniel, Nathan and Alvin Bybee, 3 grandsons Chris Lewis, Myron Bybee, and Jason Lewis.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie Bybee of Glasgow, KY, One son Larry T. Bybee of Glasgow, 3 daughters Dorothy Gilmore and her husband James, Phyllis McNeil of Indianapolis, IN. and Sandra Lewis and her husband Charles of Bowling Green, Ky, One sister Velma Turner of Bowling Green, several grandchildren and great grand children, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Pleasant Union Baptist Church, with burial in the Pleasant Oak Ridge cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, January 30, 2009 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Letha Ernestine Byrd, 66, Glasgow, died Saturday at her residence. She was a daughter of Della Simpson Vincent of Glasgow and the late Ernest Vincent. She was a homemaker.
Other survivors include her husband, Johnny Byrd; two sons, Douglas Pennycuff and his wife, Cindy, and Ricky Pennycuff; two daughters, Lynn Lyons and Connie Byrd all of Glasgow; four brothers, Melvin Vincent and Wayne Vincent of Glasgow, Joe Vincent of Hiseville and Gary Vincent of Bowling Green; four sisters, Wanda Tyler of New York, Donna Clark of Bowling Green, Shirley Deckard of Glasgow and Diane Garmon of Knob Lick; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

William C. Byrd

William C. Byrd, 81, formerly of Hiseville, died Thursday at the Hickory Creek Health Care Center in Columbus, Indiana.
Survivors include a nephew, Dan Estep of Columbus.

William H. "Bill" Byrd
April 27, 1928 - July 16, 2004
William H. “Bill” Byrd, 76, Hiseville, died Friday, July 16, 2004, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital . He was a son of the late Jessie Florence Grider and Willard D. Byrd. Mr. Byrd helped establish and develop the Hiseville Fire Department and then served as their first fire chief. He was a deputy jailer for Barren County from 1972-1977, and then served as Chief of Police for the City of Cave City until his retirement. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Byrd and his wife, Sandy, of Hiseville, and Tim Byrd and his wife, Gina, of Green Valley; three grandchildren, Jonathon Byrd and his wife, Jennifer, of Green Valley, Justin Byrd of Hiseville and Taylor Byrd of Green Valley; one great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Byrd; one brother, Robert Byrd of Pascal; one sister, Betty Veluzat of Bowling Green; and special friend, Lillian Ashbrook of Russell Springs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Byrd and one brother, Buster Byrd.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
