Mr. Floyd J. Olson, age 63 of Franklin, died Tuesday, March 25th, 2008, at the Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Friday at 3pm with Bro. Butch Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. A native of Manitowac, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Wesley E. Olson and Earlene Burnette Boren. He was retired from the Kendall Company in Franklin. Survivors include his wife - Donna Woods Olson of Franklin; step father - Jimmy Boren of Portland, Tn.; 3 sons - Junior Olson of Bowling Green, Scottie & Jeff Olson both of Franklin; 2 daughters - Melissa Wemyss and Teresa Medley both of Franklin; 1 brother - Tony Olson of Bowling Green; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 11am Thursday and after 6am Friday at Crafton Funeral Home.
Mr. Michael Nathan Craft, age 65 of Franklin, died Friday, March 21st, 2008 at his residence. Cremation was chosen. There will be no service. Crafton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Clarence Estel Craft and Hazel Mae Uhls Craft. Mr. Craft was an employee of the WAKY Sign Company in Bowling Green and was an Army Veteran. Survivors include his brother - Stevan Craft of Lexington, KY; 2 sisters - Linda Craft of Lexington, Ky and Kathy Loy of Chattanooga, TN. and several nieces and nephews. There will be visitation from 10am until 2pm on Saturday, March 29th, at Crafton Funeral Home.
Mr. James D. Chaddock, age 82 of Madison, Tennessee, died Saturday, March 15th, 2008, at the Alive Hospice Skyline Campus in Madison. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1pm in Greenlawn cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Simpson County Honor Guard. A native of Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late William H. Chaddock and Louella Beasley Chaddock. He was raised in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. He worked at Frank Davis Buick (formerly Shackleford Buick) for 25 years prior to retirement. He was a U. S. Marine World War II veteran serving in China Campaign. He was a member of the VFW. Mr. Chaddock was preceded in death by his wife - Margaret I. McReynolds Chaddock and a brother - Robert A. Chaddock. Survivors include his daughter - Betty Caudill Kinney and husband Robert of Hendersonville, TN.; 2 grandchildren - Leanne M. Kinney of Brentwood, TN. and Robert Bryan Kinney and wife Shirley of Tampa, Florida; 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 11am to 12:45pm Thursday at Crafton Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN. 37203.
Mrs. Kim Iris May Gonsman, age 53 of Franklin, died Sunday, March 9th, 2008 at her residence. Cremation was chosen. There were no services. A native of Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Paul Lee May and Anne Drawbraugh May. She was an employee of Walmart in Franklin. Survivors include her husband - Michael Gonsman of Franklin; 3 daughters - Doreen Corcia of Palm Bay, Florida, Robin Jackson of Clarksville, TN and Krystal Gonsman of Franklin; 1 granddaughter - Cheyenne Isanski of Clarksville, Tenn. Donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetic Association and the New Beginning Therapeutic Riding Program of Woodburn, Kentucky. Crafton Funeral Home was in charge.
Mr. Jesse Theodore “Ted” Roberts, age 70 of Franklin died Saturday, March 8th, 2008 at his residence. Crafton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Cremation was chosen. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late Theodore Jesse Roberts and Helen Grace Chaterson Robertson. He was a cemetery property salesman and a member of Gundog Federation and was a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include his wife - Helen Marie Webb Roberts of Franklin; 1 son - Jesse Elliott of Florida; 2 daughters - Lynn Shapura of Illinois and Melody Roberts of Somerset, Kentucky; 3 step children - Curtis Marlin, Tammy Frensley and Laurie Bandy; 1 brother - Kenneth Roberts of Franklin; 1 half brother - Tim Shultz of Ft. Thomas, Ky.; 11 grandchildren. Also survived by his mother in law - Clarice Webb of Franklin. Visitation will be from 5pm to 6pm Sunday at Crafton Funeral Home.
Mr. Grover Steven Thompson, age 50 of Franklin, died Wednesday, March 5th, 2008, at his residence. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Saturday at 11am with burial to follow in Maple Hill cemetery in Portland. Bro. Eddie Toney will officiate. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Grover Thompson and Mary Helen Wright Thompson of Franklin. He was an employee of the Auburn Hosiery Mill in Auburn, Kentucky. In addition to his mother, he is survived by an aunt - Magalene Forshee and husband Dewey of Franklin; long time companion - Pam Canler of Auburn; 3 uncles - Alfred, Danny & Sammy Wright all of White House, Tenn.. He was preceded in death by grandparents - Mr. & Mrs. Vivian Thompson and Mr. & Mrs. Leonard Wright. Visitation will begin at 3pm Friday and after 6am Saturday at Crafton Funeral Home.
Mr. Carmon Wilson Travis, age 86 of Indianapolis, died Sunday, June 23rd, 2008 at an Indianapolis hospital. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Friday at 3pm in Greenlawn cemetery. A native of Allen County, he was the son of the late Milton Travis and Vana Wilson Travis. Mr. Travis was retired from Western Electric and was a World War II Marine veteran. Survivors include 4 daughters - Carman DeAnne Allen and Patricia Gayle Goodrich both of Mooresville, Indiana, Quinetta K. Avery and A. Tracy Jenkins both of Lebanon, Indiana; 7 grandchildren - Preston Dorfemeyer, Robyn Adkins, Lacy Monday, Melissa Ashpaugh, Brandon Beausoleil, Trish Marie Wells and Jimmy Wells; 11 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Thursday and after 6am Friday at Crafton Funeral Home.
Mr. Horton B. Holcomb, age 86 of Franklin, died Wednesday, June 18th, 2008 at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Friday at 2pm with Bro. Ronnie Delk officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens where military rites will be conducted by the Simpson Count Honor Guard. A native of Petersburg, Michigan, he was the son of the late Bruce Mason Holcomb and Charlotte Belle Hoskins Holcomb. He was a tool & die maker and a World War II Army Veteran. Mr. Holcomb was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 36 year member of the Simpson Benevolent Lodge #177 and past master, 36 year member of Graham Chapter #88 Royal Arch and past high priest, 36 year member of E. K. Lamb Council #103 and past illustrious master, 36 year member Franklin Commandery #44 and past commander, 36 year member Rizpha Shrine Temple, past member of Ruth Electa Chapter #17 order of Eastern Star, member KYCH and a Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by a son - Bruce Allen Holcomb. Survivors include his wife - Gertha Allen Holcomb of Franklin; 2 daughters - Nancy Hudson and Betty Sanford of Franklin; 1 son - Mason Holcomb of Franklin; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 4pm Thursday and after 6am Friday at Crafton Funeral Home. A Masonic Service will be held Thursday at 7pm at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
Mrs. Irma Carroll Keeton, age 93 of Franklin, died Tuesday, June 17th, 2008, at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Bowling Green. Cremation was chosen. There will be a memorial service at a later date. A native of Ashland, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Harry L. Carroll and Kathleen Newell Carroll. She worked as a secretary. Mrs. Keeton was preceded in death by her husband - Francis O. Keeton, a brother - Jack N. Carroll and a son in law - Patrick Riley. Survivors include 1 daughter - Carolyn Riley of Franklin; 1 son - Jack S. Keeton of Savannah, Ga.; and 1 grandson - Brad S. Keeton of Louisville.
Mr. Johnny Earl Evans, age 52 of Franklin, died Monday, June 16th, 2008, at his residence. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Thursday at 11am with Bro. Danny Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Morris Evans and Frances Caudill Evans Alexander who survives in Bowling Green. He was a truck driver, a 1974 graduate of Franklin Simpson High School and a member of Woodburn Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by 2 brothers - Mark Evans and wife Lisa of Plano, Kentucky and Jack Evans and wife Debbie of Auburn, Ky.; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 pm Wednesday and after 6am Thursday at Crafton Funeral Home.
A former Franklin resident, Mrs. Frances Juanita Brown Bennett, age 80 of Portland, died Friday, June 13, 2008 at the Portland Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Sunday at 3pm. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Fonte Brown and Frances Chauvin Brown. She was a member of Round Pond Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband - Everett Brasco Benentt, Sr. and a sister - Anna Mae Raby. Survivors include 3 sons - Everett Brasco Bennett, Jr. and wife Judy of Clarksville, TN., Jeffrey Suel Bennett and wife Teresa of Portland and Joseph Mark Bennett and wife Julia of Portland; 1 brother - Roy Suel Brown of Franklin; 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Kenneth Herndon, age 87 of Franklin, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at the Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home in Franklin where services will be held Saturday at 10am with Mr. William Turner and Mr. James Fiveash officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Charles John Herndon and Mary Grace Moody Herndon. Mr. Herndon was a retired farmer, a member of Locust Grove Church of Christ and a graduate of Middleton High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters - Marianna Herndon Dobbs and Helen Moore Herndon and 1 brother - Charles Thomas Herndon. Survivors include his wife - Dorothy Hughes Herndon of Franklin; 5 children - Peggy Humphries of Alexandria, Virginia, Dean Herndon, Phyllis Mimms and Jimmy Herndon all of Franklin and Lynn Bond of Adairville; 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Friday and after 6am Saturday at Crafton Funeral Home. Mrs. Margie Louise Wolfe Covington, age 88 of Franklin, died Sunday, June 8th, 2008, at the Medical Center in Franklin. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late Francis Edward Wolfe and Margaret J. Yokley Wolfe. She was retired from Tennessee Shirt Works. She was a member of Salmon General Baptist Church. Mrs. Covington was preceded in death by her husband - Marion Covington and a daughter - Margaret Ann Martin. Survivors include 2 daughters - Betty Katherine Gregory and husband Doug of Franklin and Joyce Embry and husband Lee of Franklin; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 to8pm Tuesday and after 6am Wednesday at Crafton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Margaret Delores Flippin, age 68 of Franklin, died Sunday, morning, June 1st, 2008, at her residence. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11a.m. at the Shady Rest cemetery. A native of Mitchellville, Tenn., she was the daughter of the Late Dave Lively and the late Alberta Roberts. She was retired from Berry Plastics and a member of Elevated Missionary Baptist Church. She was married
to Bobby Flippin which survives of Franklin. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Tabitha Briggs. Other survivors include: 2 Sons- Marcus Flippin of Mississippi and Courtney Flippin of Franklin, 1 Daughter- Nadine Neblett of Franklin, Step-daughter- Tracy Wickware of Franklin, 2 Half Sisters- Wanda and Janie Lively both of Indianapolis, 8 Grandchildren. The wake will be 6.m. till 8p.m. on Tuesday at Crafton Funeral Home.
