Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview cemetery.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM Tuesday, July 2, 2002 and 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at the funeral home.

Douglas, Howard, 80
J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Broadway Chapel

The Warren county Ky. was a son of the late Harry G. Douglas, & Nora Bell Jeffries Douglas. He was preceded in death by a son, Howard Douglas Jr. who died in 1953. Mr Douglas was a member of the Ray's Branch United Methodist Church, and served his country in the Army during WW ll in the 104th Timberwolf Division Company C of the 329 Engineering Bn. Having served in the Rhineland and Central Europe.

He formerly owned and operated Howard's Sheetmetal Shop in Bowling Green, and later became a member of sheetmetal local #110 in Louisville. He was also a self employed farmer, having owned a farm in Warren county.

Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Miller Douglas of Bowling Green, a daughter, Patricia Jones of Bowlong Green, and two brothers, Harry Julian Douglas of Frankton, IN., and Kimbley Douglas of Windfall IN.

Three sisters, Dorothy Marie Anderson, of Bowling Green, Ruby Inez Riddle of Shelbyville, and Daphney Ray Phillips of Monterey, Tennessee.

Mr Douglas also leaves behind 3 Grandchildren, and 4 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday & from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Broadway Chapel. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Broadway Chapel .

Clark, Doris,
J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane Chapel

The Warren county native was a daughter of the late Asher Young, and Willadean Miller Young. She was preceded in death by a brother, Asher L. Young.

Mrs. Clark was a member of the Richardsville Church of Christ, and was an office clerk for the Bowling Green Livestock Market, and the Farmers Market of Glasgow KY. She was also a secretary of the Warren County Homemakers Association, and a Board Member & Treasurer of the Green River Union cemetery, also she was a Member of the Board of directors for the Warren County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include her husband, Jemmie W. Clark of Bowling Green. A son, Alan W. Clark of Bowling Green. Two daughters, Dana L. Simpson Felicia A. White both of Bowling Green. A brother, Billy R. Young of Bowling Green, and 5 sisters, Nonnie K. Raymer, of Lake Helen Florida. Carmen Y. Beals, Emma D. Young, Linda D. Steele, and Barbara J. Chaffin, all of Bowling Green.

Mrs. Clark leaves behind nine Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren & several nieces & nephews.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Lovers Lane Chapel. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lovers Lane Chapel.

Brother Oneal Nash will be the officiating clergy.

Kirby, J.C., 76
J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane Chapel

The Warren county native was a son of the late Carlisle W. Kirby, and Blooma Dell Kirby. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bowling Green. He served his country in WW ll, serving on a B- 17 Airplane as its gunner in the Army Air Corp. Mr Kirby co-founded the Kirby Goodrum Funeral Home in 1962, along with Carlene Goodrum.

In 1963 Mr Kirby purchased Mr Goodrum's interest in the funeral home, now making it the J.C. Kirby Funeral Home.

He was the Coroner of Warren county for twenty eight years, in addition to being the Coroner and operating an a funeral home he also operated an ambulance service

Mr Kirby was a former member of the V F W and the American Legion He was a member of the F O P (Fraternal Order of Police). He is the only person to receive that associations "outstanding" member award two years consecutively. He was instrumental in creating the Warren County School Retardation Center. In addition he served on the Ky. State Mental Retardation Board and was awarded the Colonel Aide De Camp Award.

In 1986 he sold his funeral home to his son, Kevin, who owns, and operates it today.

Mr. Kirby was a member of the K. F. D. B. A. (Ky Funeral Directors Burial Assn.)the N. F. D. A. (National Funeral Directors Assn) and was on the board of directors of the Planters Insurance Company.

In addition, Mr Kirby was a renowned poet having authored two books "I Am Two From Kentucky" and "Retrospect"

He spent a large portion of his time working with wood and made several pieces of furniture since his retirement

Survivors include his wife LaVerne Gentry Kirby of Bowling Green two daughters Jo Carla Kirby Vrumley of Austin Texas and Jana M Forshee Kirby of Bowling Green

Four sons John "Steve" Kirby of Lexington Mark C. Kirby of Russellville Kevin R. Kirby and Timmy D. Kirby both of Bowling Green. A brother Robert R. Kirby of Bowling Green and three sisters Nell Peperis Mary Virginia Payne and Irene Jones all of Bowling Green.

In addition, he leaves seven Grandchildren one Great Grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the BROADWAY CHAPEL. Funeral Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the LOVERS LANE CHAPEL.

Brother Richard P. Oldham, and Reverend Richard W. Bridges will be the officiating clergy.

Basil C. Hatcher - (1929 - 2010)

Basil C. Hatcher, 80, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 23, 2010 at his home. The Hart County native was the son of the late Earl and Mayme Poynter Hatcher. He was a member and deacon of Servant Valley United Baptist Church, a veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from the Hart County Creamery.

Survivors include his wife, Cleva Buckingham Hatcher, Cave City; two children, Tommy Hatcher and his wife Debbie, Glasgow, Creel Hatcher and his wife Robin, Cave City; a grandson, Stephen Hatcher, Glasgow; five brothers, Merrold Hatcher, Stanley Hatcher, Isaac Hatcher and his wife Helen, David Hatcher and his wife Barbra, Paul Hatcher and his wife Dorado; two sisters, Frances Sturgeon and Margie Wilson, all of Cave City. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Hatcher and Harold Hatcher.

Funeral services with Rev. Danny Dickson and Rev. Jerry Vaughn will be at 2 PM, Sunday, April 25th at Servant Valley United Baptist Church with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, will be on Saturday from 2 to 9 PM and from 9 AM Sunday until 1:30 PM.

Charles Buddy Logsdon - (1934 - 2010)

Charles Buddy Logsdon, 75, Cave City, passed away at his home on Monday, March 8, 2010, after waging a one year battle with pancreatic cancer. The Hart County native was the son of the late Frank and Violet Mae England Logsdon.

Buddy retired from Frito-Lay in 1989 after 31 years of service. He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957. He was a member of the Cave City Church of Christ where he served as an elder since 2005.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jerry Doyle Logsdon, Cave City; a son Charles Thomas (Lisa) Logsdon of Noblesville, IN; a daughter, Trena (Donnie) Burchett of Glasgow; four grandsons, Ben Wilhoite, Jeremy Wilhoite, Charlie Logsdon, Jake Logsdon; a great grandson, Skylar Wilhoite; a great granddaughter, Kaleigh Wilhoite; two brothers, Bob (Barbara) Logsdon, Cave City, Kenneth (Kate) Logsdon, Dallas, TX and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Logsdon and an infant brother.

Funeral services with Bro. Wayne Hatcher and Bro. Don Smyth officiating will be at 1 PM, Friday, March 12 at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 10 AM Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to Potter Children’s Home, 2350 Nashville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42101.

Lester Cline - (1921 - 2010)

Mr. Lester Cline, 88, Cave City, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Caverna Memorial Hospital, Horse Cave. The Hart County native was the son of the late Riley and Annie Sturgeon Cline, a farmer and member of Cave City Church of Christ.

Survivors include two brothers, Thomas (Elsie) Cline and Vester Cline, both of Cave City; a sister, Irene Hogan, Louisville and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services with Rev. Wayne Hatcher officiating will be at 2 PM Thursday, April 22 at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Shady Grove cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 2 PM Wednesday.

Rollie "Shelby" Jones, Jr. - (1928 - 2010)

Rollie "Shelby" Jones, Jr., 81, Glasgow, died Saturday April 17, 2010 at Greenview Hospital, Bowling Green. The Pike County native was the son of the late Rollie Jones, Sr. And Mildred Copen Jones. He was a veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was a retired air space engineer.

Survivors include his wife, Bedie Groce Jones, Glasgow; a son, Jeffrey Jones and a daughter Allyson Boligad, both of California.

Visitation at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, will be from 4 to 6 PM Saturday. There will be no funeral services. Mr. Jones chose cremation.

Evelyn Sims Green - (1947 - 2009)

Evelyn Sims Green, 61, Cave City, died Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at her sister’s home in Upton. The Hart County native was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Bradley Sims and the widow of Tommy Green. She was a member of Our Lady of Caves Catholic Church and was employed at the Watermill Restaurant.

Survivors include two sisters, Barbara (Donnie) Hatfield, Upton, Doris Reynolds, Munfordville; five brothers, Richard Sims and Kenneth Sims, both of Munfordville, Louis (Dottie) Sims, Horse Cave, James (Jeanette) Sims, Canmer and Charles Sims, Cave City and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William Carlos Sims and a sister, Carol Lee Sims.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Friday, October 16th at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City with burial in Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 11AM Thursday. Rosary will be held Thursday at 5 PM.

Ronald Ellis Huffman - (1934 - 2010)

Ronald Ellis Huffman, 75, Tucson, Arizona passed away from surgical complications on January 22, 2010 at the University of Arizona Tucson Medical Center, with his wife Terry by his side.

Ron was born August 12, 1934 to James Clarence and Mary Ellen (Ferguson) Huffman of Cave City. He spent his childhood in Cave City, leaving in his mid-teens to move to Akron, Ohio with his mother and step-father Albert Bevars.

In 1954 Ron joined the United States Air Force and served eight years. He was with the 310th Fighter-Bomber Squadron of the 58th Fighter-Bomber Wing during the Korean Conflict. He also served in Spain where he crewed for Colonel Chuck Yeager and was privileged to once break the sound barrier in an F-100 with the Colonel. It was during this time, while stationed at George AFB in Victorville, CA that he fell in love with the desert.

Following his discharge from the Air Force, Ron returned to California and went to work for United Airlines in the San Francisco area. He worked for United for 25 years retiring to Sun City, AZ, then Honolulu, HI, and eventually to Tucson, AZ, where he had his dream house in the desert.

Traveling was a big part of Ronald's life, visiting cities and countries all over the world and making friends wherever he went. He was very active in the 58th Fighter Association. An avid hiker he often explored the desert and mountain trails with family and friends. Dancing, entertaining, laughing, and cooking were mainstays of his life. Ron truly never met a stranger; he was the life of every party; he was the best of friends; he was an incredible father; and above all the greatest husband.

Ron was preceded in death by his father James Clarence Huffman and mother Mary Ellen Ferguson Huffman Bevers. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Terry Huffman of Tucson, AZ; his daughter Laura Lee Wilson-Langman (Don) of Modesto, CA; a brother James T. Huffman (Nina) of Ohio; grandchildren Jennifer K. Rossi (Ron), Matthew J. Wilson, and Jeffrey R. Wilson (Melanie), all of California; four great-grandsons, RJ and Kyle Rossi, Camden Wilson and Bryce Wilson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

No matter where he went, where he lived, and who he met, Ron always let it be known he was a proud Kentuckian and that Cave City was his true home. He will return home to be laid to rest on May 8, 2010 at 11:30 AM in the Huffman Family area of the Cave City cemetery. The Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, is in charge of the graveside memorial service. There will be no visitation.

Virginia M. Hogan - (1917-2010)

Virginia M. Hogan, 92, of Coralville, Iowa passed away peacefully at Lantern Park Care Center in Iowa.

Virginia was born August 4, 1917 in Knoxville, MD, the daughter of James and Mary Bussard Moore. On November 20, 1946 Virginia married James W. Hogan in Chicago, IL.

Virginia and her husband had lived in Washington DC and various communities in Kentucky, Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri. Following her husband’s death in 1987 Virginia moved to Coralville where she lived for 22 years. She was a member of First Christian Church.

Virginia is survived by three children, James (Martha) Hogan of Allen, TX, Robert Hogan of Kirkland, WA and Patricia Brice of Coralville; four grandchildren, Kevin, Casey, Betsy and Samantha; great granddaughter Kathryn; three brothers, Morris, Tommy and Bill; three sisters Frances, Aileen and Eleanor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers James, Paul and Richard, one sister Josephine and her grandson Bryan.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at Lensing’s Oak Hill, Coralville, Iowa and at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel from 10 am Thursday until time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospital Foundation for Mercy Hospice, Iowa City Hospice or First Christian Church.

Elsie Marie Cline

Elsie Marie Cline, 81, Cave City, passed away Monday, July 19, 2010 at her home. The Hart County native was born May 20, 1929 to the late Gene and Lula Dennison Minor. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Cline, Cave City; four sons, Richard Cline (Brenda), Mitchell Cline (Rose Mary), Veachel Cline (Betty), Ronnie Cline (Nancy), all of Cave City; two daughters, Doris Ogden (Carl), Cave City, Teresa Lockett (Jeff) Hardyville; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Edward Minor.

Funeral services will be at 1 PM Wednesday, July 21st at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 2 PM Tuesday.

Berdine Isenberg Hogan

Berdine Isenberg Hogan, 88, Cave City, passed away Friday, July 23, 2010 at Caverna Memorial Hospital, Horse Cave. The Hart Country native was the daughter of the late Joe and Ettie Barnes Isenberg and the widow of Russell Hogan. She was a homemaker and member of Shady Grove Church of Christ.

Survivors include her nephews Roger and Sammy Doyle, Cave City. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Clauda Isenberg and Settie Doyle.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Monday, July 26th at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Shady Grove Church cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 10 AM Sunday.

Clarence Roosevelt Poynter

Clarence Roosevelt Poynter, 78, Cave City, passed away Friday, August 6, 2010, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital, Glasgow, KY. The Barren County native was the son of the late William Schuyler and Harriet Logsdon Poynter, a farmer and of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Judd Poynter; a daughter, Kathy Self and her husband, Dave; a son, Daryl Poynter and his wife Connie, all of Cave City; four grandchildren, Joey Poynter and his wife Ashley, Derek Self, all of Cave City, Krista Poynter, Cole Poynter, both of Horse Cave; a great-grandson, Weston Adams, Cave City; three sisters, Helen Byrd, Louisville, Ruby and her husband Randall Chapman, Cave City, Pat and her husband Stanley Rutherford, Tyler, TX; five brothers; Bill Poynter, Paul Richard Poynter and his wife JoAnn, Jerry Poynter, all of Cave City, J. V. Poynter, Horse Cave, Warren Poynter, Florida and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Clayton Poynter.

Funeral services with Rev. Junior Shirley officiating will be at 1PM Monday, August 9th at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 5 to 8 PM Saturday, 9 AM to 8 PM Sunday and after 9 AM Monday until time of services.

Annie Francis Chapman

Annie Francis Chapman, 69, Cave City, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at University of Louisville Hospital. The Barren County native was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Felcie Merideth Vincent and the widow of Wayne Chapman. She was a homemaker and member of the United Faith Ind. Church.

Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Lutterman (Danny), Cave City, Mary Elizabeth Cothern (Daryl), McKenze, TN, Judy Ann Peters, Columbus, IN, Kathy Lynn Atwell, Munfordville, Susan Marie Coomer, San Diego, CA, Sandra Kay Lesler, Columbus, IN, Regina Ann Hunt (Tim), Cave City; a brother, Lloyd Vincent, JR; sisters, Eva Mae Bryant and Wanda Gentry (Dale), both of Cave City; and fourteen grandchildren.

Funeral services with Brother Ernie Vincent officiating will be at 11 AM, Friday, August 13th at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the family cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 3PM Thursday.

Arnold L. Martin

Arnold L. Martin, 68, Glasgow, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the University of Louisville Hospital. The Hart Co. Native was the son of the late Carl and Nannie Hogan Martin. He retired from RBC Bearing Co., Glasgow and was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Bragg Martin, Glasgow; two daughters, Monica Martin (Jamie Garner), Portland, TN, Raissa Holmes (Larry Holmes), Atlanta, GA and a sister, Alma Stilts, Cave City. He was preceded in death by a son, Calvin Mitchell Martin.

Funeral services with Bro. Wayne Hatcher officiating will be at 3 PM Wednesday, August 18th at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 11 AM Tuesday.
