Mr. Rudolph D. Owen Sr., 77, of Madisonville, KY, died Monday, July 17, 2006, at 12:15 P.M., at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

Born May 4, 1929, in Hopkins County, KY, he was the son of the late Robert Dale Owen and Daisy Elizabeth Friend Owen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Madisonville and retired after 33 years with Goldenrod Dairy. He had also worked at the Tobacco Patch. He was a member of the Madisonville Masonic Lodge #143 F&AM.;

Mr. Owen is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rita Pidcock Owen of Madisonville; two daughters, Rise’ Owen Holt of Madisonville and Robbie Owen Clements of Frankfort, KY ; two sons, Rudy Owen Jr. of New Albany, IN, and Randy Owen of Richardson, TX; a brother, Donald Wayne Owen of Broadview, IL; ten grandchildren, three great granddaughters and one great grandson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Weyman McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andy Owen, Kirby Owen, Rudy Owen IV, Richard Clark, Ben Clark, Matthew Clements, Rudy Owen Jr. and Kaitlyn Herring. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rudolph David Owen III, Leslee Herring, Catherine Clements, Madeline Clements and Owen Clements.

Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday and on Wednesday from 12 Noon until the service at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 P.M. on Tuesday by the Madisonville Masonic Lodge #143 F&AM.;

Memorials may take the form of donations to the First United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Mr. Jerold R. Nelson

Mr. Jerold R. Nelson, 68, of Evansville, IN and formerly of Hanson, KY died at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, July 15, 2006 at his home.

Born April 23, 1938 in Hanson, KY he was the son of the late Charlie A. Nelson and Marie Myers Nelson. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Andrew Wayne Nelson on September 12, 2004.

He retired in 2000 after 37 years as a tool and die maker for Whirlpool Corporation and was a US Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Nora Howard of Evansville;one son, Daniel R. Nelson of Evansville; 5 sisters, Elnora Eades of Mooresville, IN, Margie Childers of Evansville, Louise Marshall of St. Peters, MO, Christine Sanford of Evansville and Elaine Cullen of Bloomfield, IN; 4 brothers, Elmo Nelson of Hanson, Alvin Nelson of Manitou, Timmons Nelson of Hanson and Edward Nelson of Clayton, IN; four grandchildren, Ethan Howard, Jeri Linn Parks, Danielle Marie Nelson and Mari Nicole Nelson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hanson cemetery in Hanson, KY.

Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday and on Wednesday after 8:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Mr. Henry G. "H. G." Watkins Jr.

Mr. H. G. Watkins,Jr., 85, of Madisonville, KY, died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY.

Born February 21, 1921, in Muhlenberg County, KY, he was the son of the late Henry G. and Floy Coffman Watkins.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II from 1942-1945. He retired from BellSouth in Madisonville after 41 years of service. He was an avid golfer, baseball and basketball player and enjoyed gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Louise Watkins, son Grady Watkins, and sisters Edna Mae Lyons of Clarksville, IN, Faye Stevens of Livermore, KY, and Louise Wallace of Central City, KY.

He is survived by three daughters, Ann Oldham of Madisonville, Rosemary Brown of Bowling Green, KY, and Janice Watkins of Florida; a brother, Bob Watkins of Central City; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Hughlan Richey officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 6 and VFW Post 5480.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 11, 2006, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and from 12 noon until the service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Wallace, Gary Oldham, Bobby Glenn Stevens, Eric Oldham, Dean Watkins and Joey Skaggs.

Mrs. Nora Reda Berry Adcock
Died: 07/08/2006
Interment: Odd Fellows cemetery

Nora Reda Berry Adcock of Madisonville, KY, passed away at the Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home on Saturday, July 8, 2006. She was fondly known to her friends as “Tootsie”.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, George B. Adcock and three children, Reda Hanes of Mobile, AL, Dr. Ken Adcock and wife Michelle, of Maitland, FL and Berry Adcock and wife Kimberly of Madisonville, as well as three grandchildren, Alexander S. Hanes IV and Amy (Eric) Hanes Daniels of Mobile and Lindsey (Jarrett) Adcock Crowe of Newburgh, IN, and great granddaughter Emma Crowe as well as other relatives.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Madisonville for seventy-two years. She was also active in the Community Concert Series and an avid golfer, gardener and bridge player until her health failed.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Madisonville on Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at 12 noon. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the service time on Tuesday. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Mahr Cancer Center, 900 Hospital Drive, Madisonville, KY 42431.

Thomas Dixon, Jr., 67

Thomas “Tom” Dixon Jr., 67, of Cadiz, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at 11:17 p.m. at Trigg County Hospital.

A retired Tennessee Valley Authority employee and member of Canton Baptist Church, he was a son of the late Thomas Loyd Dixon Sr. and Belvie Ricks Dixon Cunningham.

Survivors include his wife, Jaunice Woods Dixon; two sons, Terry Dixon and Shane Dixon, both of Cadiz; two daughters, Wendy Finley and Diane Francis, both of Cadiz; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Ray Dixon of Toledo, Ohio.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 29, at 2 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz.

The Rev. Paul Cannon and the Rev. Irvin Darnall officiated the service.

Burial followed in Lawrence cemetery in Trigg County.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Canton Baptist Church Building Fund, 423 Boyds Landing Rd., Cadiz, Ky. 42211.

Emma Gloria Glass Ray, 81

Emma Gloria Glass Ray, 81, of Evansville, Ind., died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at Angel River Health & Rehabilitation.

A devoted Christian and member of Christian Fellowship Church, member of the All-City Bible Class, licensed realtor who worked for Emge Realty for many years, and member of an Evansville, Ind., garden club, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Ruth Dearing Glass.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, James Ray; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda and John Hower of Lebanon, Pa., and Lisa and Don Sellers of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; five grandchildren, Rachel Hower Haken of Baltimore, Md., Reuben Hower of Minneapolis, Minn., Elisabeth Hower of Lebanon, Pa., Kristoffer Sellers of Evansville, Ind., and Taylor Sellers of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; two sisters, Mary K. Myer and Jane Hobby, both of Evansville, Ind.; a brother, Edward Glass of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at Alexander East Chapel in Evansville, Ind. The Rev. David Niednagel officiated the service for Mrs. Ray.

Burial followed in Park Lawn cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Christian Fellowship Church.

Leslie Ann Noel, 61

Leslie Ann Noel, 61, of Princeton, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at 5:50 a.m. at Caldwell County Hospital, following a long illness.

A member of New Light Baptist Church in Cadiz and retired Wal-Mart management, she was born July 12, 1943, a daughter of the late Leslie Taylor McCoy and Angeline Fralick McCoy.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Louise Sutton.

Survivors include three sons, Greg Noel, Tony Noel and Chris Noel, all of Caldwell County; a daughter, Tammy Buckner of Hopkinsville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronnie McCoy of Caldwell County; a sister, Sara Jane Kirk of Valparaiso, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.

The Rev. Terry Mitcheson officiated, assisted by the Rev. Clarence Cooper.

Burial followed in Cedar Hill cemetery.

John Scott, 66

John Scott, 66, of Cadiz, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at 12:19 a.m. at the Veterans Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., following an illness.

A retiree from the CSX Railroad, member of the Baptist faith, American Legion and a Navy veteran, he was born Feb. 12, 1938, in Logan County, the son of the late John H. and Genie Richey Scott.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Wayne Scott of Eddyville, and Andrew Ryan Scott of Birmingham, Ala.; a daughter and son-in law, Lisa and Bobby Cunningham of Cadiz; three grandchildren; a brother, Charles Scott of Brookeville, Ohio; and two sisters, Jean Ballard of Franklin and Martha Eddings of Elkton.

Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, Oct. 5, at the Kentucky Veterans cemetery-West in Hopkinsville.

The Rev. John Mitchell officiated the service.

King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz was in charge of arrangements.

Myrtle Ezell, 75

Myrtle Ezell, 75, of Cadiz, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at 12:40 p.m. at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, following a long illness.

A member of the baptist faith and homemaker, she was born June 21, 1929, at Glendale, a daughter of the late John H. and Lillie Maybelle Givan.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Roy W. Givan; and a sister, Hattie Totman.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Ezell; three daughters, Paulette Mitchell of Princeton, Marie Maggard of Chassowwiky, Fla., and Debbie Capitano of Tampa, Fla.; three sons, David Ezell, Richard Ezell, both of Tampa, Fla., and Tommy George III of Texas; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, John L. Givan of Elizabethtown; and four sisters, Mary Lou Givan of Elizabethtown, Freda Moore of Cadiz, Martha Puckett and Virginia Ray, both of Louisville.

A memorial service for Mrs. Ezell will be held at a later date.

Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ledlie McKinney DIxon, 107

Mrs. Ledlie McKinney DIxon, 107, of Cerulean, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at 6:45 a.m. at Princeton Health Care Manor of natural causes.

A homemaker and member of Cave Spring Baptist Church of Cerulean where she was president of the BTU, she was born Nov. 11, 1896, in Cerulean, a daughter of the late Lewis and Lue Wood McKinney.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaiah Dixon; and six children.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lee Wilson of Cerulean; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several great-great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. at Cave Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. R.B. Pullens officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville is in charge of arrangements.

Glenda Sue Miller, 60

Glenda Sue Miller, 60, of Dawson Springs, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at 1:30 a.m. at her home.

A homemaker and member of Midway Pentecostal Church, she was born July 3, 1944, in Kentucky, a daughter of the late Vadis Miller and Gay Nell Thomason Callison.

She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, James Callison.

Survivors include a brother, Phillip Miller of Dawson Springs.

Graveside services were conducted Friday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. at Rosedale cemetery in Dawson Springs with the Rev. Willard Walls officiating.

Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs was in charge of arrangements.
