Mr. William T. “Inky” Dickerson, 79, of Madisonville, KY died at 7:41 A.M. Tuesday, Monday, March 7, 2006 at the Regional Medical Center.
Born October 10, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan he was the son of the late Arthur Dickerson and HazelHailey Dickerson Wines. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Jayne Dickerson in 1962 and one granddaughter, Lisa Anne Dickerson in 1970.
He was a retired welder for Peabody Coal Co Vogue Mines and a member of the Hanson Baptist Church. He was a WW II US Army veteran having served with the 82nd Airborne in Fort Bragg, NC. He was an Honorary Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his wife, June Dickerson of Madisonville; one daughter, Brenda Alice Blankenship of Madisonville; three sons, William Alan Dickerson, Joseph Morton Dickerson and Samuel James Dickerson, all of Madisonville; two brothers, Morton H. Dickerson and James E. Dickerson, both of Madisonville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 10, 2006 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Branson and Pastor Tony Spikes officiating. Burial will follow in the East Lawn cemetery in Hanson, KY. Pallbearers will be Kyle Dickerson, William A. Mefford, Charles Gatlin, Jason Mefford, Charles Young and David Melton. Honorary pallbearers will be Ferrell Blankenship and Jeff Thomison.
Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the services at the funeral home.

Mr. Kevin Baldwin, 33, of Madisonville, Ky died at 12:53 A.M. Sunday, March 5, 2006 at the Nortons Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
Born February 27, 1973 in Muhlenberg County, KY he was the son of the late Dale Truman Baldwin who died November 11, 1998. He wasl also preceded in death by one brother, Steve Baldwin.
He is survived by his mother, Faye Baldwin of Madisonville; one sister, Susie Baldwin of Madisonville; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Harry Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastlawn cemetery in Hanson, KY.
Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M on Monday and on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Barney Q. Hopkins

Mr. Barney Q. Hopkins, 87, of Madisonville, KY, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, at 10:25 P.M., at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY.
Born September 25, 1918, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, he was the son of the late Barney Quinten Hopkins Sr. and Sarah Amanda Kirkendoll Hopkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Roy E. Hopkins on March 4, 1994, and by a grandson, Randy Craig Howerton on October 29, 2005.
Mr. Hopkins was an avid outdoorsman and Boy Scout as a youth, earning the rank of Eagle Scout in 1933. He graduated from Carlsbad High School and East New Mexico University, with a degree in Social Science, and was employed as a professional Boy Scout Executive just prior to World War II. In May of 1942, Mr. Hopkins volunteered for the Army (and parachute training), completed basic training at Camp Roberts, California, and airborne school at Fort Benning. He was promoted to Corporal and served in Co D, 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, and rose in rank rapidly to Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, and First Sergeant. His regiment was trained and deployed to Northern Ireland and later Nottingham, England, in preparation for Operation Overload. First Sergeant Hopkins made a combat jump into Normandy on June 6, 1944, and participated in the initial assault, and follow-on operations in Amfreville and surrounding areas. He participated in the crossing of the Merderet River and was awarded a battlefield commission for his actions in those campaigns. Later assigned to the 177th Airborne, Lt. Hopkins also participated in the Battle of the Bulge, and the crossing of the Rhine River. Promoted twice, Cpt. Hopkins finished the war and his service in the Army in 1949.
Mr. Hopkins awards and decorations include the parachute badge (with three combat stars), the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the World War II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with arrowhead, the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart (with one oak leaf cluster signifying a second award), the Silver Star, and our nations second highest award for heroism in combat at great personal risk of life, the Distinguished Service Cross.
During the ensuing years, Mr. Hopkins continued in a leadership capacity as a Scoutmaster, serving 3 years in New Mexico in Troop 32, and 28 years in Madisonville, KY, in Troop 11. He has worked as an independent insurance salesman for the past 45 years. He and his wife reside in Madisonville, KY.
Mr. Hopkins was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville, taught the Arthur Fox Sunday School Class for many years, was a Deacon Emeritus and former treasurer of the church, had served on the Property Committee and assisted in obtaining several pieces of property for the church.
He is survived by his wife, Rena Cavanah Hopkins of Madisonville; two daughters, Sharon Frances Howerton and Michelle Berryhill, both of Roswell, NM; a sister, Mozelle Miller of Plano, TX; three grandchildren, Connie Clark, Susan Vaughns, and Donald Wayer Becker; three great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 9, 2006, at 11:00 A.M., at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Joe Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 8, 2006, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and from 8:00 A.M. until 9:00 A.M. on Thursday at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home. Visitation on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the service time at the church.
Pallbearers will be David Spain, Kevin McClearn, Scott Deahl, Allen Brown, Mark McCoy, Robin Brown, Lee Harris, Alan Dockery and Ed Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be former Eagle Scouts of Troop 11 obtained under Mr. Hopkins.
Memorials may take the form of donations to Boy Scout Troop 11 at the First Baptist Church or the Western Kentucky Veterans Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Mr. Floyd Fuson

Mr. Floyd Fuson, 90, of Madisonville, KY died at 8:20 A.M. Friday, March 3, 2006 at the Senior Citizens Nursing Home.
Born March 27, 1915 in Pineville, Ky he was the son of the late John Authur Fuson and Ruthie Mason Fuson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Grace Partin Fuson on August 8, 2000, one daughter, Alene Honeycutt, one granddaughter, Stacey Blanchard; two sisters, Dessie Gibson and Annie Miracle and four brothers, Elmer Fuson, Verlon Fuson, Paris Fuson and Herbert Fuson.
He was a retired coal miner having worked at Island Creek Providence 1 mines and was a member of the U.M.W.A. He attended Johnson Island Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters; Doris Pryor of Providence, KY and Sue Pryor of Manitou, KY; one sister, Della Mason of Monroe, MI; one brother, Roy Fuson of Providence, KY; eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 6, 2006 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Oakley Home cemetery in Manitou. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, George Pryor, Kelly Pryor, David Daugherty, Brian Daugherty, Barry Honeycutt and Floyd Ross Honeycutt.
Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday and on Monday after 9:00 A.M. at the funeral home

Mr. Elvis A. Weir, 84, of Taylor, Michigan and formerly of Madisonville, died at 8:56 A.M. March 2, 2006 at the Oakwood Hospital Heritage Center in Taylor.
Born November 13, 1921 in Madisonville, KY he was the son of the late Manley Payten Weir and Annie Cary Weir. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Weir.
He was a retired hotel manager and owner and a member of the Baptist faith. He was also a member of the Architectural University Masonic Lodge # 569 F&AM; of Dearborn Heights, MI.
He is survived by two sons, James Weir and Bobby Weir, both of Dearborn Heights; one daughter, Hilda Bienz of Escondido, CA; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Finley officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows cemetery.

Mrs. Nora Ethel Tapp

Mrs. Nora Ethel Tapp, 93, of Madisonville, KY, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at 11:30 A.M., at Senior Citizens Nursing Home in Madisonville.
Born February 4, 1913, in Hopkins County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Albert Pressley Nichols and Nancy Theodore Harris Nichols. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Earl Tapp; two sisters, Mary King and Maggie VanHooser; and a brother, W. T. Nichols.
She was a member of the Grapevine Baptist Church and was employed by F & F Cafe for several years.
Mrs. Tapp is survived by a daughter, Shelby J. Daniel of Evansville, IN; a son, William C. “Billy” Tapp of Madisonville; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 4, 2006, at 2:00 P.M., at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. J. D. Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Grapevine cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 4, from 12:00 P.M. until the service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Scott Tapp, Dougie Daniel, Davis Daniel, Billy Tapp, Bobby Tapp and Ivan Tapp.

Mr. Clayton Jones

Mr. Clayton Jones, 47, of Madisonville, KY, died Tuesday, February 28, 2006, in Fulton, KY.
Born August 5, 1958, in Oneida, TN, he was the son of the late Doyle Jones. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother.
He was a pharmacist at CVS Pharmacy in Murray, KY; a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the E. W. Turner Masonic Lodge in Earlington, KY.
Mr. Jones is survived by his mother, Emma Jones of Lexington, KY; a daughter, Emma Sharon Jones of Madisonville; four sons, Judson Jones and Isaac Jones, both of Lexington, Crafton Jones and Charles Jones, both of Madisonville; two sisters, Kathy Coyer and Lori Martin, both of Lexington; and a brother, Mark Jones of Richmond, KY.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Henry "Hick" Riddle

Mr. Henry “Hick” Riddle, 80, of Madisonville, KY, died at 10:30 A.M. Sunday, February 26, 2006, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born March 28, 1925 in Webster Co., KY, he was the son of the Finis Riddle and Ollie King Riddle. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Patty Riddle in 1951.
Mr. Riddle was a member of Madisonville First Baptist Church. He retired from Colonial Mines after 41 years and was a member of the UMWA. He was a 50 year member of Madisonville Masonic Lodge # 143 F & AM and the Scottish Rite. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of VFW Post # 5480.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Wanda L. Franz Riddle; one daughter, Lucy McDowell Dean of Frankfort, KY; one son, Keith Riddle of Madisonville; one brother, Emerson Riddle of Madisonville; three grandchildren, Patrick McDowell of Chicago, IL, Ryan McDowell of Collinsville, IL and Glenn Riddle of Madisonville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Patrick McDowell, Ryan McDowell, Glenn Riddle, Charles Bakos, Tommy Riddle and Jay Dean.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 9:30 A.M. Wednesday.
Masonic services will be 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post # 5480, American Legion Post # 6 and American Legion Post # 2.

Mr. James “J.W.” Hale, 72, of Madisonville, KY died at 9:25 P.M. Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at his home.
Born February 18, 1934 in Hopkins County, KY he was the son of the late James Henry Hale and Myrtle Huddleston Reed.
He worked in the Maintenance department in several nursing homes and was of the Baptist faith. He loved to fish and bowl.
He is survived by his wife, Elowise Hale of Madisonville; one daughter, Teresa Shaw of New Albany, IN ; one son, Mark Hale of Dawson Springs, KY’ two stepdaughters, Sharon Ashby of Nebo, KY and Debbie Qualls of Evansville, IN; two stepsons, Boyd Neal of Nebo and Terry Spence of Hanson, KY; one sister, Faye Turner of Pearl, MS and Billy Hale of Louisville, KY; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several step grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Eric McDunnell Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY. Pallbearers will be Boyd Neal, Mark Neal, Josh Neal, Mike Ashby, Shawn Ashby, Matt Ashby, Charles Huddleston and Clyde Turner.
