JONES, Dee born: December 17 1901 died: September 15 1974; son of Liza and the late Keenis Jones; married
: Rosie HALL, May 10 1922; 3 girls: Mabel Shafer, Huntington, West Virginia; Marie McMillian (deceased), and Maudie Hughes of Camp Hill, Pa; 2 sons: Cecil of Colorado and Clennon of Virgie, Kentucky; he also leaves his 90 year old mother, 4 brothers and 5 sisters. Joined the Old Union Church of Old Regular Baptist, September 15 1957. On September 14 1974, he was in church and was lining a song and had a stroke and died the next morning. He always said, lining songs and singing was his gift from God.

McCOY, Lottie born 2/7/1882, died 3/14/1924, was the daughter of Marion and Rebecca McCoy. She married
Lee Stanley, 8/2/1906; they had 7 children, 6 still living. She joined the Old Regular Baptist Church ca 1900. Her father, husband, 7 children, 7 brothers, and 3 sisters were living at the time of her death. "She was afflicted for several years but bore her afflictions with patience. She moved to Elkhorn City, Kentucky and got burned out and came back to the old home and took very ill and died at the home of her brother, Emory McCoy. Written by Ira Mullins, Coeburn, Virginia.

ARBINGTON, Brice. E. born 4/10/1868, died 11/7/1928, was married
to Louisa Deel 4/12/1888. He was survived by his wife, 3 sons and 4 daughters, all married
except the youngest daughter. He joined the Old Regular Baptist Church 7/4/1897 and was baptized 4/19/1897. "This was before the divide and he remained a faithful member, and when the divide came he stood firm and lived in the faith until he died." He had a daughter named Louvenia Viers who owned a store. The writer states, "So put your trust in Him for He careth for you, and, Ida, remember He is a husband to the widow and a father to the orphan if we only trust Him..." This suggests that the wife's name was Ida although it is listed earlier as Louisa. The obituary does not further explain this mystery. The obituary was written by a close neighbor, M. V. Owens.

Willie Gibson 9/2/1907; they had 6 sons and 3 daughters. She was survived by her husband, 4 sons and 2 daughters. She joined the Pine Grove Church in 1916 and was baptized by Elder Tom Thacker. Her husband, Willie Gibson was an Old Regular Baptist minister. Written by J. M. Gibson.
GIBSON, James born 1/17/1841, died 7/6/1930, was married
first to Almeda Bartley. They had 8 daughters and 2 sons. He was survived by 4 daughters and 2 sons. He enlisted in the Civil War 8/9/1862 and was honorably discharged at the close of the war. He joined the Pine Grove Church of the Old Regular Baptist ca 1878. After the death of his first wife, Almeda Bartley Gibson, he married
Jane Jeffers who also joined the Pine Grove Old Regular Baptist Church in 1919. "They both lived faithful members of the Pine Grove Church until they decided to go to the United States Baptist Church. Then he and Sister Jane were given off in an arm from the Cowpen Church on the 1st Saturday in December 1924 and was organized with the arm that composed the Little Olive Church at Carmen, Kentucky, of which he lived a faithful member until the death angel called him away." KISER, Minnie R. born 8/30/1904, died 12/29/1930, was the daughter of Eugene and Sarah Kiser. She married
James R. Hilton in 1921; they had 5 children, all living, as were her parents and her husband. She joined the Old Regular Baptist church and was baptized by Elder Ira Mullins in July 1930, the same day as her sister, Lectie. She apparently had another sister named Bessie. Written by Reb. B. H. MULLINS, Elizabeth Hollyfield, born 9/1844, on Bold Camp Creek in Wise Co., Virginia., died 1935, was the daughter of David and Virginia Short Mullins. She married
Bartley Hollyfield, also of Bold Camp, in 1863. She joined the Old Regular Baptist church in her yough and was a member until her death. She was totally blind the last years of her life. She was the mother of 5 children; 2 died in infancy, 2 still living. Her son, Marlin A. Hollyfield died in Jan. 1916 at age 33. Her daughter, Mrs Nancy A. Mullins, was living in 1938. Her son, William Jefferson Hollyfield, age 74, was still living in 1938; he had been a member of the Old Regular Baptist church for many years. Her husband, also a member of the Old Regular Baptist church, died in 1912, at age 72. She lived with her son, Marlin, until his death, then lived most of the time with a granddaughter, Mrs. Arminta Hollyfield Potter. Written, Daniel Bartley Hollyfield, her grandson whom she had reared, along with his two sisters, Arminta and ??, after their mother's death when Daniel Bartley Hollyfield was 8 years old.
AMBURGEY, Cordelia born 1862, died 1/31/1938, joined the Old Regular Baptist church in 1896, at the Rebecca Church on Beaver. Apparently the Thornton Church was her home church. Written by daughter, Carrie Amburgey. [The obituary includes a long note written by Cordelia Amburgey 2 years before her death, in which she admonishes her children not to grieve for her and to meet her in heaven. No other family details].

Pollyann Everidge, who was still living, as was his brother, Seymore Amburgey of Bath, KY. He left the following inscription on the back of his songbook: "God forgave my sins, March 23, 1932 and I joined the Mayking Baptist Church, April 17, 1932 and was baptised (sic), May 22, 1932." HOPKINS, John born in Ashe Co., NC, on 12/27/1854, died 11/8/1924, was the son of W. R. and Rosa Phillips Hopkins. His parents moved to the Beaver section of Kentucky. In 1872, he married
Hannah Osborn. He and his wife joined the Joppa Church in June 1873. He entered the ministry in October 1873 and was ordained an Elder shortly thereafter. Rosa P. Hopkins died 11/8/1924; he married
Rebecca Turner, who passed away 1/25/1926. On 5/5/1626, he married
Ollie Osborn, who survived him along with sons, John, Melvin, Joseph and Solomon of Wise, Virginia. and daughters, Mrs. R. L. Baker of Keokee, Virginia, and Mrs. J. L. Newsome of Vergie, KY, 54 grandchildren, and 76 great grandchildren. Written by G. Bennet Adams.
NEW, Eli was born March 29 1897 and died March 5, 1972 His survivors include four sons, Edd, Ralph, Glenis and Russell and one step son Wallace Smith, four daughters Mae, Freda, Thelma, Eulajean and one stepdaughter Inis. One brother Willie and one sister Molly ---Mountain Association.
STAMPER, Dema passed away June 24 1972. She was married
to Newt Sebastina on January 17 1917. To this union were born two sons both proceed her in death. She was amember of the Old Canoe Fork Regular Baptist church of the Mountain Association.
MULLINS, Daniel was born November 21 1889. He married
Sylvania Gwinn. They had 13 children of which six of them passed away. Rev Daniel Mullins was always a Minister. He raised two son who are ministers. His father James Mullins was a minister. His uncle Elias Mullins was a minister. Daniel preached at Leatherwood, Ten mile Creek, Grapevine, Strong Branch Church, Sulphur Gap and other places. MURRELL, T. H. of Onedia, Kentucky his statement on August 6 1943 age 82 years old and lived at the mouth of Red Bird. I heard my grandfather talk about Daniel Duff being a wonderful preacher. I knew about Burning Springs Association. And I knew the father of Bro Burton. I have preached in the Burning springs Association. My father talked the Red Bird Associaton into splitting up. A man by the name of Robert Smith tore it up over Apposita Doctorine and a part of the church went with him to make up the Booneville Association and the other churches that followed Daniel Duff and Nathin Arrowood, and Moses Mays was considered the legal churches of the Red Bird Association and called themselves the Mountain Association.
JOHNSON, Charlie was born February 13 1903 and departed October 14 1971. He was the son of Mrs Maury Johnson. He was married
April 15 1923 to Lydia Combs and to this union was born 11 children. 3 boys and 8 girls. Three proceeded him in death. He leave to morn his sister Lydia Johnson.
