Rhonda King
Rhonda Faye King, 42, of Sidney, Kentucky, died on Friday, Jan. 9, 2003, at her residence.
She was born on July 18, 1961, in Williamson, a daughter of the James Harold and Phyllis J. Blackburn of Sidney. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God Acts 20:28.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, James R. Blackburn.
Mrs. King is survived by her husband, Michael Anthony King of Sidney; three sons, Michael R. (Dorine) King of Phelps, Kentucky, David A. King and fiancee Crystal Smith of Sidney, and Kenneth L. (Amanda) King, who is stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps in Japan; one brother, William L. Blackburn of Hardy, Kentucky; one sister, Teresa Dean of Williamson; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at the Church of God Acts 20:28 with Paul Ray Davis officiating. Entombment will be in the Mountain View Mausoleum in Huddy, Kentucky
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, and Sunday, Jan. 11, at the Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, Kentucky, and after 5 p.m., Monday, Jan. 12, at the church. Special services will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home chapel and 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Bertha Hockenberry will officiate.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
Martha Belcher Griffey
Martha Belcher Griffey, 75, of Lexington, Kentucky, and formerly of Phelps, Kentucky, died Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky
Born April 26, 1928 at Jamboree, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Mary Tolliver Belcher.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo Griffey, and a host of brothers and sisters.
A homemaker, she was of the Pentecostal Faith.
She is survived by a son, Cleveland Griffey of Lexington, Kentucky; two daughters, Bonnie Kellione of Lexington, Kentucky and Gladys Mullins of Asheboro, N.C.; two brothers, Thomas Belcher of Jamboree, Kentucky and Jerry Belcher of Morrow, Ohio; two sisters, Vada Sullivan of Pikeville, Kentucky and Betty Thompson of Arizona; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2004 at the Phelps Funeral Services' Chapel with Revs. Mark Kellione, Doug Kellione and Keith Mullins officiating.
Burial will follow at the Family cemetery at Grassy of Jamboree, Kentucky
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will begin Thursday, January 1, 2004 at 6 p.m. at the chapel with services nightly at 7 p.m.

Jimmy D. Blackburn
Jimmy Dean Blackburn, 65, of Hardy, Kentucky, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital, Pikeville, Kentucky
Born April 20, 1938, in Pike County, Kentucky, he was a son of Virginia Childers Blackburn of Hardy and the late Lacy Blackburn.
Jimmy was a disabled fleet worker for Goodyear Inc. and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Belfry Freewill Baptist Church, Belfry, Kentucky, and attended the Hardy Church of Christ, Hardy.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Baker Blackburn; two sons, Michael (Beth) Cron of Monsey, N.Y., and Jason Blackburn of Hardy; three daughters, Stephanie Cron of Sloatsburg, N.Y., Leigh Ann Wells (Chuck Ray) of Williamson and Terry (Paul) Mills of Hardy; three brothers, Robert (Edie) Blackburn of Chapmanville, W.Va., Larry (Debbie) Blackburn of Hardy and Eddie (Vickie) Blackburn of Huddy, Kentucky; one sister, Phyllis (Ronnie) Mosher of Wellington, Ohio; two grandsons, Matthew Mills and John Thomas Mills of Hardy; four nieces, Judy (David) Nunez, Lisa (Donnie) Bliss and Rhonda (Andrew) Lara, all of Wellington, and Brandy (Scott) Brown of Hardy; and three nephews, Chris Blackburn of Hardy and Bart and Bobby Blackburn, both of Huddy.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 at the Rogers Funeral Home Chapel, Belfry, Kentucky, with Ed Lockard officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Lockard, Jonathan Lockard, Scott Brown, Chris Blackburn, Bart Blackburn and Bobby Blackburn.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at the funeral home chapel. Belfry Chapter #141 DAV will conduct graveside services.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rogers Funeral Home.
Joseph Walters
Joseph L. Walters, 79, of Island Creek, Pikeville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2003 in his residence.
Born September 8, 1924, in Pike County, Kentucky, to the late Lacy and Dixie Francis Walters, he was a retired coal miner. Mr. Walters was a member of Island Creek Holiness Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Roger Walters; and three brothers, Newt, Dover and Troy Walters; a daughter, Jerrie Webb; and one sister, Mary Smith.
Surviving are his wife, Lizzie Christine Walters of Island Creek, Pikeville, Kentucky; sons, Glen Walters of Brushy, Varney, Kentucky and Joseph Montgomery Walters, who is serving in the Navy in Iceland; step-sons, Freddy Robinson of Cowpen, Pikeville, Kentucky and Milford Boyd of Floyd County, Kentucky; daughters, Joann Brenner of Florida, Donna Galecki of Michigan and Linda Foster of Michigan; step-daughters, Connie Holloway of Pikeville, Kentucky, Sabrina Robinson of Pikeville, Kentucky, Patricia Johnson of Floyd County, Kentucky and Melissa Boyd of Hurricane Creek, Pikeville, Kentucky; brother, L.C. Walters of Sidney, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 4, 2004, 1 p.m., at Full Gospel Christian Church with Guy Wright, Frank Salisbury, Bud Crum and Doug Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith cemetery, Sidney, Kentucky
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Carrie Hays Blackburn
Carrie Hays Blackburn, 99, of South Williamson, Kentucky, died Friday, January 30, 2004 in the Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Kentucky
She was born Dec. 1, 1904 in Frenchburg, Kentucky, a daughter of the late E.B. Hays and Sarah E. Hays.
A homemaker and member of the Church of Christ faith, Carrie made her home in South Williamson with Jack and Flossie Blackburn. She was the last surviving member of her family.
She was also preceded in death by husband Julius C. Blackburn.
Survivors include two nephews, Ronnie Hays and Paul Hays of Frenchburg, Kentucky
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004 at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Chester Ray Varney officiating.
Burial will follow at Blackburn cemetery, Meta, Kentucky
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel, with special services at 7 p.m.
Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, Kentucky, is in charge.
Lucille Robinson
Lucille May Robinson, 65, of Pikeville, Kentucky, died Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
She was born in Pike County August 25, 1938, the daughter of the late Floyd A. May and Mary Cavins King May. She was a homemaker and a member of Island Creek Holiness Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Tommy McCown, Russell McCown and George McCown.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Richard Robinson of Millers Creek Road, Pikeville, Kentucky; two sons, Sherman Luther May of Millers Creek, Pikeville, Kentucky and James Robert Robinson of Creston, Ohio; three daughters, Mary J. Little Jones of Pikeville, Kentucky, Joanette Robinson of Mullins of Cleveland, Ohio and Lenora Robinson Crank of Pikeville, Kentucky; two sisters, Barbara Jean Jursek of Sheffield Lake, Ohio and Hope Blackburn Fields of Pikeville, Kentucky; ten grandchildren, Dale Lee Edmonds, Gina Cantrell, Shane Mullins, Justin May, Rita Robinson, Alex Mullins, Chris May, Brittany Robinson, Jordan Robinson and Autumn Crank; and one great grandson, Jason A. Edmonds.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2004, 12 noon, at House of Prayer, East Shelbiana Road, Pikeville, Kentucky, with Coy Wright, Frank Salisbury and Billy Compton officiating and burial will follow in the King Family cemetery on Millers Creek Road, Pikeville, Kentucky
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 1, 2004 and Friday, January 2, 2004, at the House of Prayer, East Shelbiana Road, Pikeville, Kentucky, after 5 p.m. with nightly services at 7 p.m. on both evenings.

Dorthy Ward
Dorthy Marie Ward, 59, of Tomahawk, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2003, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
Born June 14, 1944, in Lark County, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Augustus Eugene Baker and Virginia Wandle of Ohio. She was of the Southern Baptist faith.
Surviving are her husband, Oakey Ward of Tomahawk, Kentucky; sons, James Eugene Ward of Columbus, Ohio, Timothy Ward of Inez, Kentucky, Jeffery Allen Ward of Florida and Clayton Curtis Ward of Columbus, Ohio; brothers and sisters, Larry Baker of Ohio, Carl Baker of Ohio, Bob Baker of Ohio and Sue Dalting of Ohio; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 2, 2004, at noon, at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Ward Family cemetery, Milo, Kentucky
Visitation will be held Wednesday and Thursday after 6 p.m. at the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home.

Frank Calvin Farley
Frank Calvin Farley, 60, of Belfry, Kentucky, formerly of Chattaroy, W. Va., passed away Thursday, January 29, 2004, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
Born February 12, 1943, in Mingo County, W. Va. to the late Barney Farley and Sadie Canterbury Farley Scott, he was a retired carman from Norfolk-Southern Railroad. Mr. Farley attended Chattaroy Church of God, was a member of the Carmen's Union, former officer for the Williamson Police Department and was a U.S. Army veteran having served as an MP in the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife, Genevia Carol Justice Farley of Belfry, Kentucky; sons, Frank Steven (Leolie) Konopka of San Jose, Cal., Frank Steven (Rebecca) Farley of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; and Cameron Patton (Michelle) Farley of Chattaroy, W. Va.; daughter, Drema (Gary) Dotson of Phelps, Kentucky; brothers, Ira Lewis "RL" Farley of Hardy, Kentucky and BL Farley of Chattaroy, W. Va.; sisters, Helen Dingus of Rawl, W. Va. and Goldie Davis of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 1, 2004, 1 p.m., at Hatfield Funeral Chapel with Pastor Greg Whitlow officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher, W. Va. Belfry DAV Chapter 141 will perform military rites and family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, Kentucky, has assisted the family with arrangements.
Gladys Rhodes Lopez
Gladys Rhodes Lopez, 90, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Kimper, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2004, at Regency Nursing Home in Chicago, Ill.
Born July 23, 1913, in Pike County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Shannon and Mary Justice Chapman, in this life she was a sales associate at Montgomery Wards, and a member of the Freewill Baptist church.
She is survived by her husband Tony Lopez; four sons, Elfonse (Lucille) Rhodes, Tommy Rhodes, Bill (Arizona) Rhodes, Warren (Rita) Rhodes; one sister, Mary (Mark) Walsh; 17 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her first husband, Ballard Rhodes.
Gladys will be sadly missed by her friends and family.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 2, 2004, at 11 a.m., at Community Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the May Family cemetery Kimper.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home.
