Garfield "Toddy" Adkins, 83, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed away Friday, January 9, 2004, at his residence.
He was the son of the late Sam Adkins and Mary Hamilton Adkins.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 12, 2004, at noon, at Justice Funeral Home, Pikeville, Kentucky Burial will follow at Island Creek, Kentucky
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m.
Allie (Stacy) Gilliam
Allie (Stacy) Gilliam, 76, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of McAndrews, Kentucky, died on Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at the Blake Hospital in Bradenton.
She was born Oct. 3, 1927, in Merrimac, W.Va., a daughter of the late Joseph and Maxie McCoy Thompson. she was a homemaker and a member of the Bradenton First Baptist Church where she worked in the Sunday School Department and did missions work.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Homer Stacy; one son, Thomas Earl McCoy, and one brother, Harold Thompson.
She is survived by her husband Williams J. Gilliam.
Other survivors include a son, Homer Samuel (Alice) Stacy of Belfry, Kentucky; one step-son, Chester Gilliam of Lovell, Wyo.; one daughter-in-law, Jane Clark McCoy; two stepdaughters, Geneva Rathrock of Rome, Ohio and Betty Compton of Circleville, Ohio; one sister, Marvella (Lewis) Thompson Craycraft of Bradenton; three grandchildren, Thomas Randal McCoy of Knoxville, Tenn., Allyson Renae Stacy of Lexington, Kentucky and Dani Carol McCoy of Chapmanville, W.Va.; several step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Tyson.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at the Shannon Funeral Home in Bradenton. Burial will be in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Kentucky on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, with special graveside services at 2:30 p.m. with Mark Helton officiating.
Visitation will be at the Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, Kentucky on Wednesday, Jan. 21, from noon until 2:30 p.m.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Shannon Funeral Home and Rogers Funeral Home.

Frances Lynn Oney Case, 49, of Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of Elkhorn City, Kentucky
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 11, 2004, 2 p.m., at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Wilson cemetery.

Glen Roberts
Glen Edward Roberts, 54, of Burnwell, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2004, at his home.
Born February 18, 1949, in Mingo County, W. Va., to the late Carlos Scott and Alva Jean Roberts, he was a former employee of N & W Railroad. Mr. Roberts was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam.
Surviving are his sister, Teresa (Greg) Bevins of Burnwell, Kentucky; two uncles, Eddie Bevins of Napoleon, Ohio and Leon Bevins of Defiance, Ohio; three aunts, Gail Mann and Mabel Roberts, both of Martin County, Kentucky and Antoinette (Toni) Roberts of Burnwell, Kentucky; nieces and nephews, Michael and Angela Taylor, Shawn and Kimerly Christian, Kent and Mary Bevins and Greta Bevins.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 11, 2004, 10:30 a.m., at Rogers Funeral Home with Chris Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in McCoy cemetery, Burnwell, Kentucky Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Winston Adkins, 81, of Pikeville, Kentucky (Robinson Creek), died Monday, January 26, 2004.
He was born February 16, 1922, to the late Elisha and Delphia Hobson Adkins.

Michael Blankenship
Michael Paul Blankenship, 28, of Buskirk, Kentucky, died on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Kentucky
He was born on July 1, 1975, in Williamson, a son of Curtis Blankenship of Huntington, W.Va., and the late Magalene Lambert Blankenship. He made his home with his maternal grandmother, Gladys Lambert of Buskirk. He was a member of the House of Prayer in Jesus Name in McCarr, Kentucky
In addition to his father and grandmother, he is survived by four brothers, Curtis (Stephanie) Blankenship and Sanford Blankenship, both of Matewan, and Steven (Angie) Blankenship and Shawn Blankenship, both of Buskirk; one niece, Brooklyn Paige; two nephews, Todd and Cody Blankenship; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at the Faith Mission Church in McCarr with the Revs. Robert Gooslin, John Paige and Harold Dotson officiating. Burial will follow in the Alley cemetery in McCarr.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m., Monday, Jan. 19, at the church with special services beginning at 7 p.m. nightly.

Mary Alice Abshire, 75, of McVeigh, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky
Born Jan. 12, 1928, in Belfry, Kentucky, to the late Harvey Chapman and Arminda Stanley Chapman, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Abshire was a member of McAndrews Wesleyan Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Abshire; three brothers, Bill, Richard and Glen Harvey Chapman; and one sister, Martha Chapman.
Surviving are her two daughters, Drema (Leland) Cool of McVeigh, Kentucky and Donna (Johnny) Walters of McVeigh, Kentucky; six brothers, Noah (Helen) Chapman of Anderson, Ind., Truman (Jackie) Chapman of Huddy, Kentucky, Bobby (Violet) Chapman of McVeigh, Kentucky, James R. Chapman of McVeigh, Kentucky, Danny L. (Gail) Chapman of McVeigh, Kentucky and Quincey Chapman of McVeigh, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Dawn Marie Bowling, Tonya Justice, Deshia Holliday, Sabrina Pinson, Jason Cool, Shanda Cool and Trystannei Pinson-Cool; and five great grandchildren.

Alta Daniels
Alta Cisco Daniels, 77, of Majestic, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2004, at her home.
Born August 4, 1926, in Meador, W.Va., to the late Dock Lee Cisco and Isabel Ferrell Cisco, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Daniels was a member of the Majestic Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ruddo Daniels; six brothers; and four sisters.
Surviving are her sons, Dock Lee Daniels (Betty) of Majestic, Kentucky, John Robert Daniels (Michelle) of Majestic, Kentucky, Perry Daniels (Peggy) of Vulcan, W.Va., Albert Daniels (Phyllis) of McCarr, Kentucky and Johnny Lee Daniels of Majestic, Kentucky; sisters, Lina Mahon of Beech Creek, W.Va., Goldie Hill of Beech Creek, W.Va., Okey Edward of Iaeger, W.Va. and Cora Mabes of Pedro, Ohio; special friends, Barbara Daniels, Deanna Coleman, Mona Daniels and Patti Scott; 17 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 11, 2004, 1 p.m., at Majestic Church of Christ with Rev. Tennis Daniels and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Daniels cemetery at Woodman, Kentucky Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will begin Friday, January 9, 2004, at 6 p.m., at the church, with services nightly at 7 p.m.

Floyd Estepp
Floyd "John" Estepp, 67, of Stoutsville, Ohio, passed away January 26, 2004 at his residence.
He was born February 7, 1936 in Pike County, Kentucky and was the son of the late Henry and Hessie (Bradley) Estepp.
He is survived by his wife, Helen A. (Hayes) Estepp; one son, John Michael Estepp; two daughters, Helen L. (Everett) Frayer and Anita (Dennis) Picklesimer; ten grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; three sisters, Georgia Hodge, Rosie (Bill) Reeder and Noretta (Jerry) Lowe.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Taylor Funeral Home, 111 W. Main St., Amanda, Ohio 43102 with Pastor Keith Deel officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery in Stoutsville. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 1-3 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Katherine Preece
Katherine Allen Preece, age 81, went home to be with the Lord, January 26, 2004, after a long struggle with respiratory failure.
Born April 20, 1922 at Majestic, Kentucky, to the late E.C. and Stella Maynard Wolford, she was preceded in death by husbands, Lige Allen and Daniel Preece; sister, Shirley Mounts; and brother, Charles Wolford.
Surviving are her son, Lige (Mae) Allen Jr.; daughters, Jenny Barger and Patty Shannon; brother, Cain (Beatrice) Wolford Jr.; sisters, Lucille Phillips, Ruby (Harrison) Muncy, and Pearl (Jim) Foley; ten grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, very dear friends and family.
Friends may call at the O.R. Woodyard Co. Chapel, 1346 S. High St., Columbus, Ohio, Thursday, 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. where service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. Pastor Ellias Harmon will officiate with interment at Obetz cemetery.

John Burgett Jr.
John Burgett Jr. of Lick Branch, Hatfield, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 26, 2004, at Appalachian Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility.
He was the son of the late John Burgett Sr. and Fanny Taylor Burgett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Timothy and Gary Burgett; three sisters; and one brother.
Mr. Burgett was a former coal miner and a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of the Philadelphia United Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Burgett; sons, Bill, David, John, Rick and Rocky Burgett; brother, Bill Burgett; 11 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
There will be no visitation or services per the request of the deceased.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, Kentucky, has assisted the family with arrangements.
