Ina Gay Elswick Ray, 69, of Wheeling, Ill., formerly of Pike County, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 28, 2003, at Arlington Heights, Ill.

Born February 24, 1934, in Pike County, Kentucky, to the late Clarence Elswick and Emma Blackburn Elswick Williamson, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Bells of Joy United Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd B. and Lewis Elswick and one sister, Goldine Ray.

Surviving are her husband, Lawrence Ray of Wheeling, Ill.; three sons, Billy (Gardeline) Ray of Portage, Ind., Kevin Ray and Michelle Abott of Chicago, Ill. and Brian (Jill) of Kimper, Kentucky; three daughters, Sherry (Gregory) Stavros of Wheeling, Ill., Jeannie Scalzitti of Chicago, Ill. and Kathy Johnson and Russell Whitaker of Canada, Kentucky; three brothers, Lawrence Elswick of Canada, Kentucky, Bill Elswick of Elyria, Ohio and Sonny Elswick of Kimper, Kentucky; one sister, Emogene West of Pikeville, Kentucky; four grandsons; two granddaughters; one step grandson; and two great grandsons.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 4, 2003, 11 a.m., at Rogers Funeral Home with Mike Elswick officiating. Burial will follow in the Elswick cemetery, Canada, Kentucky Her grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home with special services at 7 p.m. Tuesday with Mike Elswick and 7 p.m. Wednesday with Dennis Smith.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of R. E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Kentucky

Evelyn Jacobs Cook
Evelyn Jacobs Cook, 62, of Ashcamp, Kentucky died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003 at Pikeville Methodist Hospital in Pikeville, Kentucky

Funeral services will be conducted at 12-noon Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 at the Poorbottom Freewill Baptist Church at Lookout, Kentucky Burial will follow at the Cook cemetery, Marion's Branch, Ashcamp, Kentucky

Visitation will be at the church starting at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Teresa Carol Francis
Teresa Carol Francis, 36, of Forest Hills, Kentucky, died on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at her residence.

She was born on Nov. 2, 1966, in Mingo County, the daughter of the late Doug and Sadie Ray Francis.

She is survived by Garrett Thompson of Forest Hills; one brother, Dougie Francis of Stone, Kentucky; and one uncle Cecil Francis of Meta, Kentucky

Funeral services will be at noon, Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at the Rogers Funeral Home at Belfry, Kentucky with the Rev. Carl Hess officiating. Burial will follow in the Thompson cemetery in Forest Hills.

Visitation will after 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 10, at the funeral home.

Stella Mae Lambert
Stella Mae Lambert, 90, of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Grundy, Va., died on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, in a Lexington hospital.

She was born on May 14, 1913, in Paynesville, W.Va., the daughter of the late James H. and Mary Lester Horn. She attended Concord College, taught school and worked in the post office. She was a member of the Grundy Baptist Church for 57 years. She was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, I.M. Lambert; one grandson, Richard Kent Matoon Allara; five sisters, Linnie and Sarah Kennedy, Lora Etta Horn, Ella Davis and Ida Joyce; three brothers, Alva, Ballard and Miles Horn.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Robert Allara of Lexington; one granddaughter, Kim (Mitch) Thomas of Lexington; one grandson, R.K. (Cassie) Allara of Charleston, W.Va.; one great-grandson, Michael Thomas of Lexington; and one brother, Emory (Edith) Horn of Hurley, Va.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at the Grundy Baptist Church with the Rev. Hal Scott officiatingk. Burial will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park in Big Rock, Va.

Pallbearers will be R.K. Allara, Mitch Thomas, J.D. Kennedy, Mack Ratliff, Van Leslie Davis, Richard Horn, David Cecil and Trey Adkins.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 10, at the Virginia Funeral Home in Grundy. The body will be move to the church on Saturday prior to the service.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Virginia Funeral Home in Grundy.

Jimmy Doo Little
Jimmy Doo Little, 59, of Pikeville, Kentucky, formerly of Mossey Bottom, passed away Monday, October 6, 2003, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital.

He was born March 5, 1944, to Millard Little and Hattie Johnson Little.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 9, 2003, at noon, at Justice Funeral Home with Rev. E.W. Damron officiating. Burial will follow at Noah Mullins cemetery, North Mayo Trail, Pikeville, Kentucky

Visitation will be held Wednesday with family meeting from 3-5 p.m. and public visitation 5-9 p.m.

Ivel Hackney Keisman
Ivel Hackney Keisman, 84, of Elkhorn City, Kentucky, passed away Monday, October 6, 2003, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2003, 2 p.m., at Bailey Funeral Home with burial following in the Elkhorn City cemetery, Elkhorn City, Kentucky

Visitation will be held at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Inc.

Tommy Oscar 'Grandpa' Mullins
Tommy Oscar "Grandpa" Mullins, 68, of Ashcamp, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2003, at Ashcamp, Kentucky

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 9, 2003, 11 a.m., at Bailey Funeral Home with burial following at the Sanders cemetery, Sycamore, Kentucky

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Wednesday evening at Bailey Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Inc.

Blanch Maynard
Blanch Maynard, 78, of Elk Creek passed away on Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, in South Williamson, Kentucky, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born Oct. 4, 1924, at Dingess, she was the daughter of the late Boyd Sr. and Ethel Grubb Baisden. She was a homemaker and member of the America United Baptist Church of Delbarton.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Noah Maynard; two sons, Gary and Danny Maynard; brothers, Ira, Freddie, Kyle, Jay, Earl, Earnest, Willis and Namen Baisden; sisters, Dora Conley and Carrie Baisden; and grandson, Shawn Maynard.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna Lovern and husband Don of Grand Blanc, Mich.; daughter-in-law, Brenda Maynard of Flint, Mich.; brothers, Boyd Baisden Jr. and wife Alfreda of Sandyville, W.Va.; sisters, Mae Mullins and Margaret Adair, both of Florida;, Mrs. Frank (Effie) Carey of Elk Creek, and Betty Varney of Ona, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Angela Lovern, Greg and Heather Lovern, and Shannon McKinley; great-grandchildren, Whitney and Paige Brasher, Rebecca Maynard, and Kayleigh and Shawn McKinley.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at the Chafin Funeral Home in Delbarton with the Elder Eddie Layne and the Rev. Dan Browning officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Monday with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m.

Mildred Goldene Alley
Mildred Goldene Alley, 73, of McCarr, Kentucky died October 3, 2003 at the residence of her daughter, Denise New.

Born June 2, 1930 in Pike County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John and Fannie Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Goble "Pete" Alley.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, David Alley and Gary Alley, a granddaughter, Keri Lynn Smith, a sister, Lorraine Smith, and a brother, Jimmy Rosevelt Smith.

A former school teacher for the Pike County Board of Education, she was a member of the Blackberry Senior Citizens and the Blackberry Sew Happy Quilters.

She is survived by three daughters, Denise (David) New, McCarr, Kentucky, Kathy (Doug) Staggs, Ransom, Kentucky and Karen (Jackie) Smith, Ransom, Kentucky; a sister, Joyce Whitt, Ransom, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Jessica Staggs, Douglas Staggs, Matthew and Mark Alley, Kyla (Craig) Raisor and Lisa Smith; also, two special friends, Willie Riddle and Dollie Hatfield.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at Rogers Funeral Home with Minister Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Alley cemetery at McCarr, Kentucky

Pallbearers will be Billy Prater, Barry Ratliff, Jamie Trout, David Cook, Jr., Shelly Hensley and Delynn Meek. Honorary pallbearers will be Trent Riddle, Eddie Blackburn, Paul Farley, Clinton Layne, Rick Browning, James Varney and David Gooslin.

Special services were planned for Sunday evening with Mike Stanley and will be held Monday evening at 7 p.m. with Mike Smith.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rogers Funeral Home.

Delmer Williamson
Delmer Williamson, 89, of Canada, Kentucky died October 4, 2003 at his residence.

Born September 22, 1914 at Sidney, Kentucky, he was the son of the late George Williamson and Alabama May Williamson.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Williamson; three brothers, Carl, Walter and John B. Williamson; three sisters, Gracie Cook, Lassie Ball and Anna Williamson.

A retired coal miner, he was a member of the UMWA. A Kentucky Colonel, he was a longtime member of the Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his second wife, Goldie Blackburn Williamson; a son, John L. (June) Williamson, Canada, Kentucky; seven stepchildren, Dennis Thacker, Highland Heights, Kentucky, Phyllis (John) Smith, Canada, Kentucky, Jacqueline Jude, Melbourne, Fla., Christine (Don) Perry of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brenda (Max) Newberry, Norman, Okla., Betty Gallimore, Canada, Kentucky, Janet (Jim) Trout, Pikeville, Kentucky, and Ruby Cook, Canada, Kentucky; two brothers, George Williamson, Jr, Wyandotte, Mich., and Elijah Williamson, Canada, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Nicky Williamson, John L. Williamson, II, Jeanne Maynard and Ryan Kelly Williamson; eight great-grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at Rogers Funeral Home with Randall Thornsbury and others officiating. Burial will follow at the Williamson Family cemetery at Canada, Kentucky

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be Luther Smith, Larry Varney, Bill Williamson, Jack Thacker, Ed Thacker and Elmer Thacker.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with special services at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

Carl B. Maynard
Carl B. Maynard, 77, of Phelps, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 5, 2003.

Born March 20, 1926 in Pike County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Dave and Virginia Dotson Maynard.

He was also preceded in death by an infant son, James Edward Maynard, an infant daughter, Lois Maynard, brothers, Bryson, Sid, Leonard and Bill Maynard, and sisters Vera, Mary and Stella.

He was a member of the Gooslin Pentecostal Church of God and Local Union # 1511.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary Barker Maynard of Phelps, Kentucky, a son, Larry (Delores) Maynard Sr. of Phelps, Kentucky; a daughter, Joyce (James) Layne of Church Hill, Tenn.: four grandchildren, Larry (Anita) Maynard, Jr., Steve (Crystal) Maynard, Cheston (Christie) Layne and Carla Layne; five great-grandchildren: Adrianna Layne, Trent Maynard, Addison Maynard, Baby Layne and Tyler Nelson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at the Gooslin Bottom Pentecostal Church of God with ministers Benny Freeman, Ron Chapman and Alex Fields, Jr. officiating.

Entombment will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Huddy, Kentucky

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. on Monday, October, 6, 2003, at the church with services nightly at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the Gooslin Bottom Pentecostal Church of God.

Arrangements are under the direction of the R.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Phelps, Kentucky

Irene Prater Dotson
Irene Prater Dotson, 60 years of age, a resident of Woodman, Kentucky, passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at her residence.

She was born May 29, 1943 at Woodman, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Troy and Lexie Blankenship Prater. She was raised by her grandmother Annamay Prater who also preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Terry Dotson; infant son, Alfred Cote Jr.; and nephew, Tommy Prater.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Tabernacle House of Prayer.

She was the loving mother of three children, Clara Coleman of Woodman, Paul (Connie) Cote of Majestic, Kentucky, and Rhonda (Doug) Blankenship of Phelps, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Joseph, and James (Tammy) Coleman, Annamay, Troy and Amanda Cote, and Joshua Stump; three great grandchildren, Jessica, Selina and Travis Wolford; and sister, Christine (Leroy) Prater of Rawl, W. Va.; four special nieces and two special nephews; special long time friend, Lizzie Blankenship of Woodman, Kentucky; special friends, Kathy and Leah Prater, Barbara Daniels, Greg and Melissa Clark and children.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 13, 1 p.m., at the Faith Tabernacle House of Prayer with Rev. Charles Meek officiating. Burial followed in the Family cemetery at Devon, W.Va.

Visitation was held after 6 p.m. on Saturday at the church with services nightly at 7 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of the R.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home, Phelps, Kentucky
