Louie Clyde Maynard
Louie Clyde Maynard, 78, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Canada, Kentucky, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004.
He was born Oct. 27, 1925, in Mingo County, a son of the late Sam and Martha Jane Maynard Summers.
In addition to his parents, Louie was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Marie Maynard; second wife, Bertha Mae Maynard and a son, Junior Maynard.
He was a retired employee of N&W Railroad and a member of the Lonesome Dove Old Regular Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Danny Maynard and Randy Maynard, both of Columbus and Louis Maynard of Sidney, Ky; five daughters, Patricia Sanders, Linda Sue Gilbert, Wanda Faye May, Sheila Phipps and Vickie Arledge, all of Columbus and Brenda Jordan of Panama City, Fla.; 25 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at the Lonesome Dove Old Regular Baptist Church with Raymond Smith, Gabe Lowe and Lacy Walters officiating.
Burial will follow in the Maynard cemetery at Canada.
Visitation will be after 5:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at the church.

Hattie M. Harrell
Hattie M. Harrell, 100, of Belleville, Mich., formerly of Pike County, Kentucky, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 18, 1903, in Simmons, W.Va., a daughter of the late Richard and Lillian (Tickel) Bennett.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of close to 68 years, William Harrell, who passed away Dec. 10, 1990; one son, James Franklin Harrell; grandson, Tandy Lowe; three sisters and one brother.
She was a member of Sharondale Church of Christ in Belfry.
Mrs. Harrell had been attending the Belleville Freewill Baptist Church since making her home with her son, John, the past six years.
Survivors include four daughters, Madalyne Langdon of Martinsburg, Connie (Joe) Bazzilla of Holden, Carol Sue (Lonnie) Pyles of Huntington, and Mary (Larry) Given of Hatfield, Kentucky; two sons, Bill D. (Kaye) Harrell of Muncie, Ind., and John G. (Roxie) Harrell of Belleville, Mich.; one sister, Elizabeth Franke of Jacksonville, Fla.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at the Belleville Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will also be held from noon until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry. Burial will follow in the Lowe Family cemetery at Hatfield, Kentucky

Barbara Gaye Mullins, 51, of Pikeville, Kentucky, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2004.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11, Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home on Hambley Boulevard in Pikeville with Keith Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young cemetery, Pikeville, Kentucky
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Monday, Feb. 2, and Tuesday, Feb. 3., at the funeral home.
Carrie Hays Blackburn
Carrie Hays Blackburn, 99, of South Williamson, Kentucky, died Friday, January 30, 2004 in the Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Kentucky
She was born Dec. 1, 1904 in Frenchburg, Kentucky, a daughter of the late E.B. Hays and Sarah E. Hays.
A homemaker and member of the Church of Christ faith, Carrie made her home in South Williamson with Jack and Flossie Blackburn. She was the last surviving member of her family.
She was also preceded in death by husband Julius C. Blackburn.
Survivors include two nephews, Ronnie Hays and Paul Hays of Frenchburg, Kentucky
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004 at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Chester Ray Varney officiating.
Burial will follow at Blackburn cemetery, Meta, Kentucky
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel, with special services at 7 p.m.
Lillan 'June' Barrett Fletcher
Lillian "June" Barrett Fletcher, 78, of McCarr, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord Friday, December 5, 2003, at Williamson Memorial Hospital, Williamson, W. Va.
Born September 8, 1925, in Draffin, Kentucky, to the late Haynes Barrett and Maggie Hill Barrett, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Fletcher was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Fletcher; son, Darrell Douglas Fletcher; two brothers, John Charles and Earl Barrett; a sister, Mildred Barrett Elswick; and a great grandson, Corey Dale Brinegar.
Surviving are her two sons, Thurman (Betty) Fletcher of Glendale Heights, Ill. and Larry (Irene) Fletcher of Lake Villa, Ill.; three daughters, Brenda (Joe) Tomsovic of Williamson, W. Va., Linda Kay Fletcher of McCarr, Kentucky and Pamela (Rick) Adkins of McCarr, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Laura (Bob) Brinegar of Wisconsin, Carol Will of Illinois, Rhonda Fletcher of Glendale Heights, Ill., Theresa (Tim) Epling of Williamson, W. Va., Thomas Lee (Stacey) Fletcher of Aurora, Ill., Gene Fletcher of Lake Villa, Ill., Chan Adkins of McCarr, Kentucky and Sabrina (Erik) Thompson of Paintsville, Kentucky; 11 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 8, 2003, 11 a.m., at Rogers Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Butler of Matewan Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Billy Dotson cemetery, Phelps, Kentucky Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Eugene Kellion and Charles "Hawkeye" Dixon.

Violet W. Taylor
Violet W. Taylor, 79, of Pikeville, Kentucky, died Thursday, December 4, 2003, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
She was born at Pikeville, Kentucky, August 1, 1924, a daughter of Briece and Roma Mullins Wagner.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Charlie W. Wagner of Lexington, Kentucky
She is survived by her husband, Clyde Taylor, Jr.; two brothers, Garland L. Wagner of Westland, Mich. and Raymond Wagner, Mount Dora, Fla.; and one sister, Ruby B. Small of Somerset, Kentucky; and one step-son, Robert M. Taylor of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Taylor will be Saturday, December 6, 2003, and Sunday, December 7, 2003, from 6 - 10 p.m. in the chapel of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home, Hambley Blvd., Pikeville, Kentucky Funeral services will be held Monday, December 8, 2003, at 11 a.m., also in the funeral home chapel with Johnny King, minister officiating. Lonnie Gene Swiney, 37, of Elkhorn City, Kentucky, died on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2003, at the Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, Kentucky
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Bailey Funeral Home in Elkhorn City. Burial will follow in the Swiney cemetery in Breaks, Va.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rhoda Dotson
Rhoda Sanson Dotson, 67, of Stopover, Kentucky, died on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at the Good Shepherd Community Nursing Center.
She was born on May 2, 1936, in Majestic, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Floyd and Ethel Blankenship Sanson. She was a retired school teacher and a retired staff member of the Pike County Solid Waste Depart-ment. She was a member of the Stopover Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Bean.
Mrs. Dotson is survived by her husband, Andy Dotson; son, Andy Darin (Jeanie) Dotson of Phelps, Kentucky; son and grandson, James Andy (Amanda) Dotson of Kimper, Kentucky; daughters, Rhonda (Dave) Bartley of Pikeville, Kentucky, Cassondra (Roscoe) Prater of Stopover, and Wand Lester of Phelps; brothers, Emerson Melvin Sanson of Stanton, Kentucky, and David Tracy Sanson of Bellville, Ill.; grandchildren, Andrea, Tabitha, Felicia, Mikey, Autumn and Nolan; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Kaylee, and Caleb.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at the Stopover Church of God with the Revs. Harold Layne and Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Blankenship cemetery at Stopover.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5, at the church with special services at 7 p.m. nightly.

Billy Bordwine
Billy Joe Bordwine, 51, of Peyton Creek, Pikeville, Kentucky, died on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
He was born on Nov. 4, 1952, in Virginia, to Virgie Osborne Bordwine and the late George Bordwine. He was a general contractor and a member of the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Bordwine is survived by his wife, Elouise Williamson Bordwine; son, Jason (Mary) Bordwine of Saltville, Va.; stepsons, Duane (Linda) Smith of Varney, Kentucky, and Derrick (Amy) Smith of Virgie, Kentucky; brothers, David (Kathy) Bordwine of Meadowville, Va., Allen Bordwine, Virginia Beach, Va., Mark (Susan) Bordwine of Alabama; grandchildren, Bradley Bordwine, Tiffany Smith and Tasha Nicole Smith; and special grandchild, Little Sam.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Williamson Family cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5, at the church with services at 7 p.m. nightly.

Tula Howard
Tula Howard, 62, of Pikeville, Kentucky, died Saturday, November 29, 2003, in Warner Robbins, Ga.
Tula was born October 10, 1941 in Pike County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late John Bevins and Myra Slone Bevins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Teddy Howard.
She is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Shannon) Little of Marrowbone, Kentucky and Teresa (Robert) Harlow of Warner Robbins Air Force Base, Ga.; four brothers, Charles Buddy Bevins, Smitty Bevins and John Douglas Bevins of Millard, Kentucky and James Bevins of Virgie, Kentucky; three sisters, Glenda Fitzsimmons of Duke Center, Pa., Sharon Kaye Bevins and Sherry Bevins of Millard, Kentucky She is also survived by four grandchildren, Sawna (Taz) Mullins, Tiffany Worrix and Chad Chaney of Millard, Kentucky and Brandi Harlow of Robbins Air Force Base, Ga.; and four great grandchildren, Cherish Worrix, Cameron Worrix, Keian Worrix, and Austin Mullins.

Shirley Jequetta Riley, 61, of Pikeville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2003, at her residence in Harless Creek, Pikeville, Kentucky
She was born March 28, 1942, in Pike County, to the late Clyde Conway and Helen Hylton Conway.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2003, 2 p.m. ., at Old Fashion Freewill Baptist Church, Elkhorn City, Kentucky, with Richard Gibson and Pete Newsome officiating. Burial will follow at the Riley Family cemetery, Harless Creek, Kentucky
Visitation will be held at Old Fashion Freewill Baptist Church, Elkhorn City, Monday beginning at 5 p.m. for family and 6 p.m. for friends. There will be a nightly service Monday and Tuesday.
Dovie Robinett
Dovie Ferrell Robinett, 82, of Emerson Street, Bucyrus, Ohio, formerly of Stopover, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2003, at her home.
She was born June 19, 1921, in Pikeville, Kentucky, to the late L. K. Ferrell and Dollie Steele Ferrell. She was a homemaker and mother. She attended Lincoln Avenue Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Robinett; her great granddaughter, Amanda Dolin; great great grandson, Dylan Stuckman; sisters, Cora Hopson and Florence Robinett; half sister, May Ferrell; brothers, Mel, Pat, John, Charlie, Raffe, Earl and Lee Ferrell; and daughter-in-law, Diane Robinett.
Surviving are her sons, Earl and wife Carra Robinett of Bucyrus, Ohio; Arlin Robinett of Crestline, Ohio and Anthony Robinett of Bucyrus, Ohio; daughters-in-law who continues to be part of her family, Martha Chapman and Shelva J. Blankenship; sister, Bertha Sanson of Pike County, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2003, 10:30 a., . at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Evangelist Rick Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
