Emma Lowe
Emma Alma Maynard Lowe, 84, of Narrows Branch, Hardy, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 23, 2004, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital, Pikeville, Kentucky
Born May 3, 1919, in Gulnare, Kentucky, to the late Earl Maynard and Bertha Lowe Maynard, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Lowe was a member of Narrows Branch Old Regular Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Amos Lowe of Hardy, Kentucky; sons, Kenneth (Pat) Lowe of Huddy, Kentucky, Amos J. (Lynn) Lowe of Hardy, Kentucky and Paul David (Trina) Lowe of Pinsonfork, Kentucky; daughters, Hazel Bonta of Belfry, Kentucky, Regina (Roger) Stepp of Paint Lick, Kentucky, Vivian (Larry) Thacker of Hardy, Kentucky, and Lillian (Michael) Workman of Wilsondale, W. Va.; sisters, Delcie Justice of Harold, Kentucky, Trixie Maynard of Ocala, Fla. and Lola Molnar of Lexington, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 27, 2004, 11 a.m., at Rogers Funeral Home with Bobby Scott and Richard Staton officiating. Burial will follow at the Hanners Family cemetery, Gulnare, Kentucky
Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Chuck Bonta, Justin Lowe, Roger Dean Stepp, Kevin Stepp, Larry Joe Thacker, Matthew Thacker, Jacob Workman and Jason Workman.
Honorary pallbearers are David M. Varney, Dr. Adkins, Dr. Oon, Tommy Bentley, Donnie Farley, Harold Farley, Derek Farley, Jack Nichols, Thomas Varney and Clifford Johnson.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home with special services both nights at 7 p.m. with Old Regular Baptist ministers.

Wanda Smith, 65, of Debord, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at her residence.
She was born May 6, 1938, in Martin County, Kentucky, to the late Jilson Delong and Minnie Goble Delong.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 6, 2004, 1 p.m., at Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Wednesday and all day Thursday at the funeral home.

Imogene H. Crumley, 79, of Elkhorn City, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Mt. View Health Care of Elkhorn City.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, 11 a.m., at Bailey Funeral Home with burial following at Elkhorn City cemetery, Elkhorn City, Kentucky
Visitation will be held at the chapel after 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Neil Blackburn
Byron Neil Blackburn, 46, of Coburn Road, Huddy, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2004, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital, at 7:15 p.m., following a lingering illness.
"Big Neil" as he was affectionately known by a multitude of his friends, was born on December 17, 1957, to the late Woodrow "Woody" and Merle Smith Blackburn. Neil was employed for 15 years by the Pike County Board of Education as a custodian and bus driver at Belfry High School where his favorite duty was driving the football team on their away trips.
In addition to his parents, Neil was preceded in death by his close friend and sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth (Libby) Blackburn; one infant sister, Mary Ellen; and one 17-month-old brother, Darrell.
Neil is survived by his wife of 17 years, Debbie (Hatfield) Blackburn of Huddy, Kentucky; his daughter, Ashley DeNeil Blackburn of Huddy, Kentucky Also surviving are brothers, Jimmy Ray Blackburn of Chattaroy, W. Va. and special friend Geraldine Hagy of Fairview, W. Va.; Larry and Marji "Bunny" Blackburn of Pinsonfork, Kentucky and Gary and Pebble Blackburn of Huddy, Kentucky He is survived by his mother and father-in-law, Eugene and Lou Anna Hatfield of Hardy, Kentucky, brothers-in-law, Miles Randel and Blanche "Tiny" Hatfield of Narrows Branch, Kentucky, and Wilson "Dale" and Janeine Hatfield of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and sister-in-law, Iva Jean and Fred "Butch" Runyon of Forest Hills, Kentucky He also had a host of nieces and nephews, J.R. and Shirley Blackburn of Pikeville, Kentucky, Sam and Donnette Blackburn of Chattaroy, W. Va., Chris and Angie Blackburn of Concord, N.C., Tiffany and Keith Lowe of Belfry, Kentucky, Theresa and Lee Roberts of New Albany, MS, Miles Jr. and Weston Hatfield of Narrows Branch, Kentucky and Taylor Brooke Runyon of Forest Hills, Kentucky; great nieces, Mandy, Katie, Brianna and Alexis Gracie Blackburn, Hope Blackburn, Brayleigh and Mackenzie Lowe and Mallory Roberts; special aunt and uncle, Roscoe and Joy Blackburn of Huddy, Kentucky
Visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday after 6 p.m. at Rogers Funeral Home with special services at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rogers Funeral Home with Bob Werntz officiating.
Pallbearers will be William "Bill" Bevins, Steve Mickey, Todd Cassell, Anthony Tackett, Butch Runyon, J.R. Blackburn, Sam Blackburn, Miles Hatfield, Jr., Weston Hatfield and Robert Pete Moon. Honorary pallbearers are Rodney Varney, Paul Dotson, Miles Hatfield and Wilson Dale Hatfield.

Spencer C. Mullins
Spencer C. Mullins, 42, of River Rouge, Mich., formerly of Pikeville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2004, in River Rouge, Mich.
He was born in Pike County, Kentucky on October 9, 1961, a son to the late Hazel M. Silver and Ellis O. Mullins.
Survivors include his stepfather, Joseph Silver and a stepmother, Judy Mullins. He is the brother of Steve Mullins, Ellis Dywane (Robin) Mullins, Tammy Mullins, Jon Miller, Jimmy Beaudrie, Elizabeth Rippey and Michelle Beavers. He is preceded in death by his brother, Lester DeLong. He is the nephew of Jerry Meade and Mildred Beam. And a host of relatives and friends who will miss him.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside burial will be at Ratliff cemetery, Shelbiana, Kentucky

Earl Jones
Earl Jones, 76, of Russell, Kentucky, formerly of Phelps, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 31, 2004, in the loving care of his family at the Kings Daughter Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky
Born July 4, 1927, to the late Holland Jones and Flora Riddle Jones, he was a retired coal miner having worked for Chisholm Mines and along with his wife, Florence, and their two sons, Earl Jones Jr. and Tommy Jones, they founded the Jones Oil Company. A long time minister affiliated with the Church of God, he was a former pastor of the Burnwell Church of God and the Jamboree Church of God and currently served as a member and associate pastor of the Faith Christian Church at Phelps, Kentucky
Surviving are his wife, Florence Ferrell Jones of Russell, Kentucky, united in marriage May 13, 1947; sons, Earl Jones Jr. (Linda) of Phelps, Kentucky and Tommy Jones (Tammy) of Pikeville, Kentucky; daughter, Teresa Wright Jarrell (Jaime) of Russell, Kentucky; brother, Elmer Jones (Lois) of Lexington, Kentucky; sisters, Magdaline Daugherty (Earl) of Morehead, Kentucky and Norma Jean Mann (Glenn) of Stone Mountain, Ga.; five grandchildren, Michael Jones, Linnea Utely (Brian), Patrick Jones (ginger), Cassee Jones, and Tommy Rush Jones; two great grandchildren, Sydney Wright and Patrick Hunter Jones.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2004, 1 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church located on Cedar Creek Road at Pikeville, Kentucky with Revs. Peppi Francis, DeWitt Furrow and others officiating. Entombment will follow at Annie E. Young cemetery, at Pikeville, Kentucky Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at 5 p.m., at the Jamboree Church of God with a service at 7 p.m.. The body will then be moved to the First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, February 4, 2004, with visitation beginning at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Earl Jones t the church of the donor's choice or to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will begin Tuesday Feb. 3, at 5:00 p.m., at the Jamboree Church of God, with services nightly, at 7:00 p.m. The body will then lie in state on Thursday, Feb. 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church prior to the final funeral service
